Vanilla Rooibos from Mountain Rose Herbs
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 12th, 2013
This tea is very sweet, so if you aren't a particular fan of sweet teas I wouldn't recommend it. That being said, I love this tea! It smells and tastes delicious. I drink it plain as it really needs no addition. It tastes, as advertised, like vanilla tea. It is especially good when I am having a craving for something d...

I've had this tea both on it's own and with the addition of milk an honey, and have liked it both ways. It smells good but not amazing, and tastes better than it smells. I like the fact that the tea can be brewed strongly without tasting bitter. It's a really good price for the quality of the tea.

This tea is very different from what I usually drink, but I enjoyed it immensely. It has a very unusual flavor which is strong but not overpowering and definitely delicious. The smell of the tea alone is very calming. In a way, it reminds me of the smell of books, and honestly it might be worth buying the tea just for ...

I'm normally not a fan of coconut-flavored teas, but the coconut in this blend is very subdued, and the dominant tones are rooibos and spice.
I notice that the ingredient list contains both sugar and artificial flavoring, both of which I'm not a huge fan of, but this blend is barely sweet, and it did not have much o...
White Ayurvedic Chai Tea from Teavana
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Blend73 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Mar. 11th, 2013
I bought this tea while it was on sale. It smells like heaven. It can get a tad bitter if brewed too strongly, but has a delicious flavor overall. That being said, at 10 dollars for two ounces of tea, it is a tad above my price range for normal tea drinking.

I love the taste and smell of this tea. I often drink it with milk and honey as a substitute for breakfast. It's more reasonably priced than many other Teavanna teas, but it is still above the price range that I would find preferable.

Along with Bell, the other traditional New Zealand tea and found in many households and places of work throughout the Land of the Long White Cloud. A blend which produces a standard British style brew which can be enjoyed anytime of the day. As is to be expected the loose leaf is markedly superior to the bags.

Good old PG Tips, an oldie but a goodie. There's nothing flowery and wishy-washy about this "builders brew". This is everything you would expect from a stereotypical British cuppa. Very quick brewing, good malty aroma and a pleasant flavour. Best brewed in a mug and enjoyed with the biscuit tin beside you.

This tea is pretty good. It has an interesting flavor. It's strong enough and not too bitter. I added cream and sugar.

This is an absolute shocker and I'm quite sure one of the reasons tea has never taken off in the States and on the continent. Probably the most widdly tasting tea widely available. You could get exactly the same effect by throwing the grass clippings from your lawnmower into a bucket of water.
If anyone offers you t...
English Breakfast from Twinings
Style: English Breakfast – Region: ?????50 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 9th, 2013
To be honest this really doesn't do a lot for me and sadly it's the usual offering in cafes and teashops here if you ask for an English Breakfast. Never brews up strong enough for my tastes, and it's a fairly insipid flavour. To be honest, It won't offend but it's not going to blow your socks off and wow you either. I ...

Firstly I make no apologies for my review of this tea as to be honest nostalgia and rose tinted glasses no doubt colour it. Being a Kiwi, Bell tea holds a special place in my memory, and it was the usual tea brewed up for breakfast, morning and afternoon teas, and whenever a cuppa was required. Saying that it really is...

Style: Scottish Breakfast – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 9th, 2013
There's nothing subtle about this. Taylor's Scottish Breakfast is a stonkingly big, powerful brew which packs a wallop. An Assam and African blend, the malty Assam is right at the forefront and the African side of things is probably Kenyan, so the whole blend is a very malty affair. It also has a sizeable caffeine hit,...

Mar. 9th, 2013
To be honest, I'm not a huge Earl Grey drinker, but rather enjoy the odd cup during the hotter months. Dilmah's take on this famous tea is very good. The black Ceylon base is perfect, using its characteristic refreshing notes to mingle with the citrus, bergamot flavouring. Lovely aroma and a nice, clean refreshing tast...

Dilmah, in their marketing, make a lot of noise about the freshness of their teas due to packaging within days of picking, and with their standard "Premium" offering it really does have a freshness distinct from most of the other big producers. The Premium in truth is an Orange Pekoe and exhibits that wonder deep orang...

This struck me as a solid-quality Jasmine tea, but nothing extraordinary.
Unlike many of Teavana's offerings, it's on the strong side.
Flavor is smooth, but there is a bitter undertone. To me, this tea felt fairly strongly caffeinated. Aroma is perfumey, more than I like it to be. The base tea is very mild and...

Good, traditional British blend with malty Assam and Ceylonese Pekoe. Best suited as a breakfast or morning tea. The refreshing Pekoe plesantly lifts the punchier Assam making an enjoyable brew. Nice aroma but a touch on the pricey side.

Mar. 8th, 2013
For some reason, I did not expect to like this one, I think in large part because I've had pretty bad experiences with finely-broken green tea in tea bags, and I also don't see Tulsi's characteristic flavor and aroma blending as well with green teas as I think it does with black tea.
Although I still wasn't crazy ab...
Earl Grey from Ahmad Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I like this tea. It has a good amount of flavor and it blends well with the tea. The aroma is really nice. It tastes a little bit weak, though. I had to steep it for 6 1/2 minutes to get it strong enough. I added cream and sugar.

*disclaimer* This is a rating from someone who doesn't usually like flavored teas - if I usually drink flavored teas, I like the flavor to be minimal!

Organic Earl Grey from Wegmans
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 8th, 2013
This Earl Grey has a classic British character.
The dry leaf is very aromatic, with a strong, fresh smell.
Upon brewing, steeping for 6 minutes, this produces a rich cup with moderate strength of flavor and a moderate body. The Bergamot is bold but not overpowering, and the base tea has somewhat of a warming qua...

I thought this an outstanding tea. Many of my favorite Chinese green teas originate in Zhejiang province, and I was eager to try this one. I found it very pleasing!

I'm not amazingly experienced with Matcha, but I usually find them to have some combination of sweet, bitter, buttery, and seaweed flavors. The best matchas I've had have kept these taste characteristics in balance, though I have a fondness for when the bitter and the butter tastes pop out a bit more strongly than 'bal...

I find Wegmans black teas to be on the mellow side, but have superior aromatic qualities. This was a really enjoyable tea that is among the strongest of their black teas. Classic Assam character.
Dry leaf is not terribly aromatic, and smells like a typical black tea.
