Green Tea Matcha from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 7th, 2019

I’ve decided to try a few blends of matcha with other green tea and started with this brand. Given that I’ve never been overwhelmingly impressed with Celestial Seasonings, it was better than expected!

Though it cannot take the place of an actual matcha craving, the addition of matcha added a bit of sweetness and...

I picked up this tea at a grocery store on a whim. The tea bags appear filled with dust. There is much better tea out there, but this is drinkable if nothing else is available. I may have to bring this to work to share with folks who might like it more. :-)

Hot Cinnamon Spice from Harney and Sons

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????

95 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 8th, 2019

I really like this tea! It’s a delightful sort of spicy with hints of sweetness, even without sweetener. I don’t always enjoy orange flavor in tea, but in this case it blends nicely with the spices, the main one of which is cinnamon with a bit of cardamom. Overall, I agree that it is reminiscent of red hots. It als...

Ginseng Green from Adagio Teas

Style: Ginseng Green Tea – Region: China

90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 29th, 2018

I wasn't sure whether I would like this one or not, but I found it delightfully refreshing. The ginseng gives the tea a bright yet herbaceous flavor. The light feeling that the tea imparts is quite nice. I'm glad I tried this one.

I didn't add any creamer or sweetener to this tea.

Raja Oolong Chai from Adagio Teas

Style: Flavored Oolong – Region: Blend

97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 20th, 2018

Mmmmmm, I'm liking this tea. It's a nice mixtures of spicy flavors that works well with the oolong base. I've seen comparisons of this tea with Teavana's Maharaja Oolong Chai, but I was never a huge fan of that tea. This one strikes me as more flavorful and balanced. Though I think I prefer it on its own, it also holds...

Maple Creme Oolong from Adagio Teas

Style: Flavored Oolong – Region: ?????

96 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 7th, 2018

I really enjoyed this tea! The aroma of maple is strong both in the dry leaf and the brewed cup. One should definitely try this tea without a sweetener first, as I think it's already almost dessert-like in its sweetness. But that sweet maple flavor doesn't taste cloying or excessive. It's a great tea for when you might...

Thai Chai from Adagio Teas

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????

90 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I really enjoy the coconut and spices in this tea. The flavors are strong yet blend well, and the tea doesn't go bitter with brewing. The aroma of the dry tea is especially strong. The tea resteeps well, though the flavors are mellowed by repeated brewing. This tastes good both with and without honey added.

Almond Oolong from Adagio Teas

Style: Flavored Oolong – Region: Taiwan / Formosa

96 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 20th, 2018

This has turned out a surprise favorite. The aroma of the dry leaf is of fairly intense almond extract. After brewing, the almond aroma is still strong but a bit more blended and muted. The oolong and almond flavors work very nicely together. The tea also does pretty well with a second steeping. I may get this one in m...

I really enjoyed this tea. It reminded me of restaurant oolongs, except with more complexity and less astringency. It resteeps well, too. It isn't my favorite oolong, but it's a solid example of its type.

Scottish Breakfast from Adagio Teas

Style: Scottish Breakfast – Region: Blend

84 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 26th, 2018

This is a solid breakfast tea. I’m often not into plain black teas — especially of the “breakfast” variety. They often come off as too bitter or astringent. This tea, however, is smooth with a nice complexity. I like it a bit more than Adagio’s Irish breakfast. As of this review, I’ve never tried their Engl...

I haven’t tried a lot of Irish breakfast teas, but I like this one. It has a very smooth quality. It’s caffeine isn’t actually too intense, and it doesn’t turn bitter easily the way some black teas can. This is a solid breakfast tea, I think. :-)

75 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jul. 31st, 2018

This tea is made up of small pellets when dry. I suspected they would expand with water, which they did -- but not overwhelmingly so. The aroma is pretty subtle.

I brewed it at 205 F by pouring water over it and then allowing it to steep awhile. It never became bitter or unpleasant. It reminds me of a mixture of asp...

Sticking my nose into the bag, I found the aroma of the dry tea pleasant and strong. The main notes were of cinnamon, hazelnut, and chocolate. After brewing (at 200 F for 4 minutes) , those scents were more muted and subtle notes of graham cracker and campfire picked up.

The taste and aroma strike me as well blended...

This is a really great fruit tea. It’s a great balance of tartness and sweetness, whether served hot or cold. The tea initially diffuses more slowly than I expected, but it does ultimately add plenty of flavor.

I will likely revise this review after a few more times trying this tea. It seems high quality with a grassy quality, but I can’t decide how I feel about the bitter undertones. I generally am not a fan of bitter teas. To be fair, it might be a fault of my brewing. I do overall enjoy this tea, though, so long as it is...

I got this on sale and, as of today, it's still on the sale price on their website. Hence, this one gets a better "value" rating from me than most Teavana teas.

I love the aroma of this tea. I always enjoy lavender, and the caramel adds just the right kind of sweetness. In fact, when I noticed the caramel bits in th...

This is a wonderful tea. Both the dry leaf and the brewed tea smell amazing. The coconut really comes out. The balance of sweetness with the black tea flavor is very smooth. It'd be possible to add sugar or honey, but it's plenty sweet enough without it. There seems to be some sort of sweet spice in the aroma, but that...

This tea is really quite impressive. Whether dry or brewed, its aroma and its flavor both remind me of smokiness from some sort of aromatic wood used for barbecuing -- though it is not "barbecue" flavored. Perhaps it reminds me of camping mixed with a cigarette smoke that somehow isn't gross?

The smokiness is very p...

The hint of banana flavor really makes this tea. I love it. It's great for when I'm craving something a bit fruity and a little sweet but distinctly caffeinated. The flavors blend very well, and the aroma is comforting.

The tea itself is solid quality loose leaf. I bought this tea (and a couple others) at a conventi...

I really love a good fruity hibiscus tea. This one does not disappoint. If doing many infusions of small cups in the Chinese style, it makes many good cups. It also makes an excellent cup of normal size. However, after that, the second cup is very weak. This is the only element bringing down the score for me. Overall, ...

This is a solid tea. The flavor is lightly muscatel, and it's easy to brew. I used 195 F, as suggested on the package, and that seems best -- but even hotter water worked fine. I like the idea of using this for a somewhat lower caffeine buzz than a morning tea.

I really liked this tea -- when it was prepared just right and very fresh. It has a lovely, subtle aroma and flavor with delightful hints of muscatel, making it a stand out pure tea. However, it was easier to oversteep than others by this brand and the intensity of the first cups magic lessened a bit with second and th...

The more I drink this tea, the more I enjoy it. Initially I felt it wasn't as distinctive as the other teas from this brand, but now I feel like it's simply a quite well-rounded tea. There's a subtle muscatel flavor that's nice. I feel like tea goes particularly well with food. Also, it resteeps very well.

This is another really lovely white tea from teakruthi. I've often found it difficult to find a white tea I really enjoy, but both of theirs are quite pleasant and smooth. This one has a rich flavor without bitterness and it resteeps well, which helps to mitigate the relatively high price compared to their other teas.I...
