Kenilworth Ceylon from Harney and Sons
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 15th, 2016
A dark and rich tea with smoky notes that were unusual for a Ceylon.
I've tried other Ceylon teas from Kenilworth, and this is not only unlike any other tea from this estate or garden, but unlike any other black teas I'm tried from Sri Lanka. I found it interesting how different this was from other Kenilworth teas,...
Uva Highlands from Harney and Sons
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Uva, Sri Lanka73 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 14th, 2016
A potent, robust tea with a distinct wintergreen aroma that comes out more some times than others. A bit sensitive to brewing conditions, and not for the faint-hearted, but good if you want something strong, especially if you drink tea with milk. I served this to a friend who likes strong Irish Breakfast tea, and she...

I haven't tried the loose leaf tea from Ahmad, but I did have the opportunity to try this tea as part of an assortment pack I purchased at Marshall's. You may also be able to find it at TJ Maxx or Homegoods.
It is a good Ceylon bagged offering that brews a nice golden color with good flavor without being too bitter....
Ceylon Black Tea (Orange Pekoe) High Grown from Frontier
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 17th, 2015
My favorite tea from Frontier yet, I thought this a top-quality black tea and one of the better Ceylons I've sampled from any company.
The dry leaf is quite beautiful, and has a mild but pleasant aroma of malt and spice that is lighter and cooler than most malty teas.
Upon brewing, the aroma becomes a bit dusty, ...
Idulgashinna Estate Organic Green OP from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Green Tea – Region: Uva, Sri Lanka83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 16th, 2015
This tea was multifaceted and intriguing. I also found it resembled aged sheng Pu-erh in certain ways.
Interesting wiry leaf, some pieces broken but most not. The smell of the dry leaf is mild but very pleasant and, in spite of its faintness, quite complex, resembling high-quality Chinese green teas a bit, but als...
Kenilworth Estate OP from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Kandy, Sri Lanka87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 17th, 2015
Classic morning pot of tea if you like your tea strong enough to stand up to milk, yet not bitter or tannic. I used to fuss with making my own 'English breakfast blend' in search of the perfect combination of boldness and color -- hate weak, pale-colored tea in the morning -- but without adding bitterness or a smoky or...

I love Earl Grey tea, this included. Not overpowering, great aroma, and sweet without been sickly. Add some milk and sugar to enjoy the sweetness even more.

Very fruity. Fairly bitter. Pretty generic overall, a lot like many black teas I've tried.

I've only had this as iced tea with sugar, not hot.
It took me a while to figure out how to prepare this to my taste. It was far too bitter when steeped cold overnight, and also when steeped in boiling water for 5 minutes (and then cooled). I found that steeping it in boiling water for around 4 minutes is best. To t...
Harrods English Afternoon Tea from Harrods
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 16th, 2015
In London, and visited Harrods so had to buy something. The English Afternoon tea is nice and comes in a cute Harrods tea can. A bit pricey due to strong GBPound versus Canadian$. A mild aroma and light taste, its an ok brew to serve for high tea with scones.

Aug. 26th, 2015
This was my first venture into "low elevation" Ceylon tea.
Produces a deep ruby liquor, with a very rounded and balanced flavor with light but noticeable "cocoa" in the aroma and taste. Not even remotely bitter. Balanced is a good word for this strong (caffeine-wise) single estate black tea.
Over steeping (4 ...
Earl Grey Bravo from Adagio Teas
Style: Blue Flower Earl Grey – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon73 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

This has been my go-to tea for the last couple of weeks. When it runs out, I'll probably try other types of Earl Grey, though maybe I'll buy this again someday. It's good, though basic.
It's a fairly mild tea with a very mild bergamot flavor. Only a little bitterness. Pretty astringent. You can only smell and taste ...
Chocolate Chai from Adagio Teas

I really, really like this one. It's a great chai that works the chocolate flavoring just right. The cardamom is the most noticeable spice for the first couple cups, with the cinnamon showing up later. In both cases they were very smooth, not overwhelming or out of place.
This also works well whether you drink it pl...
Ginger Peach tea from Metropolitan Tea Company
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon73 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jul. 26th, 2015
If you like tea with a taste of fruit this is your cup. The taste of ginger is sweeten by the peach flavor, taking away the harsh taste of ginger without over powering the brew. As for the aftertaste it doesn't linger long, but it leaves a warm feeling on the taste buds. Ginger is great for settling the stomach and thi...

The peach and ginger flavors in this tea are muted, but very smooth. I really like this one! A part of me wishes that the fruit and spice were stronger, but mostly I think this makes an excellent morning tea. The black tea is robust without being overpowering or bitter, and it holds up to multiple infusions well. Great...

It smells good, but the taste of cloves is really overpowering. When the tea is in my mouth I feel like I'm drinking hot water with a bunch of ground cloves mixed in, and it almost tastes burnt. Only after swallowing it do I detect any of the other spices: some ginger and a surprisingly small amount of cinnamon. I can'...

An excellent green tea of top quality, definitely among the best green teas I've sampled to come out of Sri Lanka.
This was my second Ceylon green tea that I tried from Blackwood Estate; the first was from Simpson & Vail. It was certainly recognizably similar to the other tea. I liked this one slightly better; it ...
Kandy OP from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Kandy, Sri Lanka87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 29th, 2015
The aroma is mild, and very typical for a British-style black tea, on the malty side for a Ceylon, and much more complex than most other Ceylons. I found it is easy to overlook if brewed weakly, but really comes alive if brewed more strongly.
This tea is quite slow to infuse; I like steeping 5 minutes or more, and ...
Ceylon Golden Tips Black Tea from What-Cha
Style: Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 12th, 2015
The aroma of the fuzzy leaves is iconically a Ceylon, it is brisk and bright, but it also has notes of oak wood, roasted peanuts, distant flowers, malt, and fruit. The fruit notes are muscatel and cherry, in fact, this tea reminds me of a three way dance between an Assam, Ceylon, and Darjeeling, how fascinating! The ar...

A strong black tea of very good quality for a very reasonable price. In spite of the "English Aristocratic" name, I think this tea has more of a Russian flavor aesthetic: bold, strong, and intensely fruity. I really enjoy the large-leaf Ceylon OPA teas. My favorite is Ahmad Tea's, and I think I still like that one a...

Tastes halfway between a Darjeeling and a typical black tea. I didn't like it the first time I tried it, but this time it's quite smooth. Don't oversteep it to avoid bittterness. Slightly raisin-like.
Whole bag of fannings diffuses immediately.
Ceylon Sonata from Adagio Teas

This tea has a nice fruity aroma. I like just smelling it for a while before actually taking a drink. I want to say that it reminds me of purple grapes.
The taste actually has a good degree of character. It's a mix between chocolate and citrus notes, and that's without any sweetener. It's also quite smooth, with ver...

I have to admit to being a little biased against this tea based on the name alone. What is this, the East India Trading Company? Are we still living in the Age of Imperialism? Come, now.
That aside...
