Dragon Well Lung Ching from Imperial Tea Garden
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5

I was really impressed with Imperial Tea Garden's Hunan green teas. This tea though, did not impress me.
This did not taste like a dragon well. Aroma grassy but also quite smokey--a quality I never encounter in true, high-quality dragon well. Toasty, but with more bite, less smoothness.
Not quite as bad as som...
China Green Tips Filterbag from Tazo Tea
Style: Mao Feng Green Tea – Region: Zhejiang, China57 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

A decent bagged tea available everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE) that Starbucks is served - offices, Barnes & Noble, airports, even the local library - I can get a quick cup of this in a pinch. Vegetal and green - a bit "dry" tasting - so I add sweetener sometimes. (For shame, I know!) I love green teas but this is j...

When Starbucks switched to what they call full leaf sachets, I noticed a big improvement in quality, often manifested in complexity of the aroma. This is one of the teas where I found the aroma increased most in complexity.
This green tea is REALLY vegetal. Like, intensely vegetal, much more so than I remember the...

I was expecting to like this tea a lot, and I just didn't. It wasn't terrible, but I liked it considerably less than a number of much cheaper teas, and than most of the other green teas I've sampled from TeaVivre.
Wiry dry leaf has an intense aroma, very fresh, and suggestive of savory qualities, but also highly ve...
Dragon Well Loose Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China77 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5

I've sampled a bunch of dragonwell lately and most of it either falls really solidly into the legit zone, or is unrecognizable as its style and not particularly pleasant to drink. This one is somewhere in between. I'd say it's legit but among the lower-end of the teas I'd label in this fashion. Think enjoyable, but ...

I thought this tea was really good. The smell of the dried leaf was fresh and grassy, and the taste of the tea was equally fresh. At first, I didn't think it was terribly outstanding, until I had a second cup- I was impressed that the second brew was just as good as the first!

I thought this an outstanding tea. Many of my favorite Chinese green teas originate in Zhejiang province, and I was eager to try this one. I found it very pleasing!
The dry leaf consists of long, extremely straight, narrow leaves, and is intensely aromatic. The aroma is among the most complex of any dry tea I've ...
Organic Tian Mu Mao Feng Green Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Mao Feng Green Tea – Region: Zhejiang, China87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

This tea has a light, clean, mellow taste. I'm not sure I would call it sweet, but it is definitely not bitter either.
The leaves are long and thin with a vegetal aroma that produces a light yellow color. Steeped at 194F for about 2 minutes, this tea has a very pleasing taste!

I found this tea to be more bitter than most green teas with somewhat of a nutty flavor, with an aroma that matched. I steeped it for about 2 minutes--maybe it was a little too long.

I notice that a lot of people who review teas use this turn of phrase "everyday tea", which I take to mean something unfussy and satisfying that you can happily drink on a regular basis. This tea had that quality for me.
The instructions say to brew it a little hotter and shorter than I'm used to with green teas - a...
Superfine Pre-Ming Dragon Well Long Jing Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 20th, 2012
This struck me as a very high-quality tea, quite distinct from any other dragon well / long jing, and unlike anything I have ever tried. A bit more like yellow tea than green tea.
Dry leaf is golden-green, and has a very fine and extremely dusty appearance, and is very powerfully aromatic, with a deeper, toastier a...

An organic tea of very good quality for a very good price!
Loose leaf has a very dark green color and a pungency suggesting fruity, grassy, and herbaceous qualities. The leaf is slow to unfurl and infuses quite slowly.
Upon brewing, the tea is surprisingly light in color and has an aroma equally suggesting of li...

A blast from the past--somehow I forgot to post this review, so enjoy it and miss SpecialTeas!
I found this tea to taste more similar to other Zhejiang green teas that I've tried than it did to mao feng green tea from other regions of China. Aroma is strong, fresh, toasty, and grassy. I can see both the fruity and...

The more high-quality loose-leaf dragonwell I try, the more I realize how diverse this type of tea can be. This tea was pleasant and easy to brew, and among the best loose-leaf dragonwells that I've sampled.
Dry leaf looks dusty, yellowish, and smells very pleasing, strongly aromatic, with a typical smell for high-...

Dragon Well greens teas are my favorite of the greens. This one is the perfect balance of bright grassy flavor and more mellow earthy tastes. I'm not sure the exact specs on when this particular Dragon Well was picked or what flush it might be but regardless its flavor works for me! :)

Got this as gift from a friend and was did not enjoy it as much as I would have excpected from starbucks. Just seemed mass produced and the only nice thing was the tea bag itself which was a nice pyramid one but the tea aroma was unsetteling both loose leaf and steeped. a simple chinese green tea

This tea resembles a good mao feng green tea: it has long, flat, slightly curved leaves, and a taste reminiscent of other Mao Feng that I've had. The leaves are a bit narrower and more needle-like in appearance than most mao feng.
The first time I brewed this tea, it did not leave much of an impression on me. I up...
Dragonwell from Adagio Teas

I tried brewing this by the exact same method I had brewed Novus' dragonwell; both were similar portions of whole-leaf tea in pyramid sachets. Although Novus can't really compare with Adagio, as a whole, I think on this particular tea, Adagio's tea fell short.
The first infusion was very flavorful, rich, and aromat...

Somehow this review got lost, so I'm posting it after the fact! This is my favorite dragon well I've tried yet. Most of what I've tried has either been too weak, or had objectionable qualities.
This is a powerful tea...not much leaf is needed to brew a strong cup. If you're used to brewing dragon well, even highe...
Dragon Well 2nd Grade from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 28th, 2011
I got this tea for a general idea of the relative quality of Ten Ren's Longjings, without much investment.
You can get a lot of loose Longjing here for not much money at all. The downside is that the quality isn't so great. Many leaves are broken, other leaves are bent, etc. For most people, I would recommend much h...
China Green Tips Filterbag from Tazo Tea
Style: Mao Feng Green Tea – Region: Zhejiang, China73 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 16th, 2011
The following review is of China Green Tips in a normal tea bag, as opposed to the whole-leaf satchet version.
True to its name, the aroma and the flavor of China Green Tips are indeed similar to the vegetal and fresh qualities of a Zhejiang green tea made from small and vibrant leaves. Apart from its basic characte...

Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

The liqueur is a deep amber tone. There are a couple of leaves left in the cup. There is a smell of cooked grass, sort of like leeks, and a soft hint of caramel in the smell.
This doesn’t seem to be a super complex set of tones to this tea. That doesn’t make this a bad tea though, it is just a sort of basic tea....
China Green Tips Filterbag from Tazo Tea
Style: Mao Feng Green Tea – Region: Zhejiang, China57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 7th, 2010
Served in a Starbucks. I was impressed with this for a tea bag, but it really did not compare to the majority of the loose-leaf green tea I buy.
Aroma was a bit muddled, vaguely toasty, fairly vegetal, and with only a hint of grassiness. Warmer, and less crisp and refreshing than I like. I like Zhejiang greens an...
Dragonwell Green Tea from Boston Tea Company
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China23 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5

I was very disappointed with this tea; it was the only sample I received from the Boston Tea Company that I did not like; the others were all quite enjoyable.
Dried leaf is broken and more grayish than other dragon wells I've seen. This does not taste at all like other dragon wells I've tried. Aroma is slightly sm...
