Chamomile from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: Egypt

Wow, well, either chamomile is growing on me, or I've finally learned how to brew it. This one has a very strong (but not bitter) flavor. I heated up the water for one minute in a microwave before adding the sachet, and (based on the reviews below) kept the steep time shorter than normal. Once it looked sufficiently go...

African Sunset from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend

Zesty! Not as complex or interesting as it could be, but quite nice. Then lemon and rooibos flavors go well together. Pricier than what I would like, but a nicely refreshing blend with a nice aroma.

Orange Sencha from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Fruit Green Tea – Region: China

37 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5

Meh. To me, the orange flavor wasn't enough to compete with the bitter tea. I'm not particularly into in orange alone as a flavoring, anyway. I saw fannings at the bottom which I suspect were increasing the bitterness over time. Adding honey helped, but overall this tea simply isn't worth the price.

In my opinion, among the best offerings by Two Leaves Tea. This is a very well done Darjeeling. A bit pricy for bagged tea, but worth it when you're in the mood to splurge. It doesn't need a long steep, either. Mmmmmm. It's really hitting the spot tonight.

Assam from Two Leaves and a Bud

Not bad for a black tea. Detected a little bitterness in the finish, but it wasn't off putting. Also smelled and tasted subtly raisin-like. Not bad, but not outstanding and not my personal favorite style of tea--especially given that it's rather pricey.

Alpine Berry Herbal from Two Leaves and a Bud

I have mixed feelings about this one. As a fan of fruity, tart, and hibiscus-based teas, I feel like I should like this one more than I did. There was nothing bad about it; for me the flavors seemed balanced, not overly intense. But at the same time, I don't find it brag worthy. Certainly worth a shot if you like herba...

White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China

53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 1st, 2014

As a pure white tea, this wasn't bad, but it wasn't a flavor to get me excited. It didn't taste bitter to me, which was a plus, but overall it was fairly nondescript. (Or maybe I'm missing nuances because I need to internalize the language of tea better?)

I'm not sure what else to say about it. I'm sure people who p...

I actually found this tea to be refreshing and clean. It's simple, but not in a way that's bitter or at all unpleasant. I brewed it a short time at 175 °F and was pleasantly surprised by how very drinkable it is. The aroma is very light and the infusion is a pale green. Its a bit plain by itself, so I recommend drinki...

Mtn High Chai from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Assam, India

57 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5

Based on the deliciously spicy dry aroma I was very excited to try this tea. Unfortunately, the flavor was much more flat, weak, and less interesting. How unfortunate.

On the plus side, it makes for a solid latte. So if you like your tea with milk and perhaps a bit of sugar, this may well be a favorite cup for you. ...

Earl Grey from Two Leaves and a Bud

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

Not bad, but not my type of tea. The bergamot flavor is very muted and I do taste some bitterness (even though I tried to prevent this with a relatively short steeping).

For my second cup I added hazelnut creamer and this improved the tea immensely. So if you like a creamy tea, this isn't a bad base, but as a genera...
