Mexican Mango Chili Mate from Capital Teas

Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 9th, 2014

This was something completely new and different, unlike any other tea, mate, or herbal blend that I've tried previously. An old review that I only am posting now; I sampled this at the Philadelphia Coffee and Tea Festival.

There's a slight kick from the chili. Keep in mind, I'm someone who LOVES spicy food, stuff ...

Morning Thunder from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Yerba Mat̩ Black Tea РRegion: Blend

40 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jul. 14th, 2012

I've known of this blend for years, but never tried it until today.

It was a bit of a disappointment. The black tea does seem to convey more strength of flavor and body, and the mate a certain sweetness. But I got the impression that the Yerba mate used in this blend was higher quality than the black tea.

The a...

City Harvest Green from SerendipiTea

Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: Blend

73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I found this one interesting as it is a Jasmine-scented tea that also contains other ingredients and flavorings, but also because it contains two different base teas.

I tend not to like blends like this, but I found this one to be relatively well-executed. The overall character is mainly of Jasmine: the Jasmine is ...

Bucaneer from SerendipiTea

I tend not to like blends of herbs and tea including coconut, as coconut is generally not a smell or flavor I associate with tea drinking.

I found the different aromas in this blend to blend very well, however. It was creamy and sweet, yet somewhat balanced.

This is certainly not the sort of thing I would buy on...

I tend not to like flavored teas like, this, but given that, I thought this one was not bad. Aroma of citrus and vanilla is strongly suggestive of sweetness, but this tea is not particularly sweet. The base tea is Keemun-like, with deep, fruity tones, but more tannic than I'd expect from a Keemun.

I'm really not s...

Enlightened Mind from ShanTea

This one blended very well...I'm used to drinking green kukicha, but this has the roasted kukicha which I think blends well with the Yerba Mate. I can't notice the sencha as much, and I don't know what the Gingko would be like. I will say, the aroma is somewhat earthy, like a root or rhizome. There's a significant w...

Passionfruit Orange from Hawaiian Natural Tea

Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: Hawaii, United States

33 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Mar. 10th, 2011

I received this teabag from a trade with a friend. I wasn't expecting that much, and honestly, it didn't deliver that much.

The one thing that this tea has going for it is that the flavoring is not overdone: it's subtle, particularly the orange--I almost notice the passionfruit flavoring a bit more.

The base tea...

White Orchard from Mighty Leaf Tea

Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: China

57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 4th, 2009

The aroma is mild and is mostly of fruit. There is a hint of bitterness, but the tea aroma is overshadowed by the fruit. Overall, this tea is very similar to the "Green Tea Tropical" by Mighty Leaf. This tea tastes slightly more bitter to me and has slightly more tea and less fruit in the aroma, so I prefer it.

Jasmine Oolong from Ten Ren Tea

Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: ?????

77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 27th, 2009

This was one of the first teas I tried from Ten Ren, and I enjoy it greatly. Richer and more full-bodied than most jasmine green teas, yet the Jasmine aroma is still strongly present. I think this blend works very well--it's hard to even recognize as a blend as the aromas blend so well. People who like jasmine tea b...

Peach Mango White Tea (White Tea with Island Mango and Peach) from Lipton Tea

Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: ?????

Very fruity aroma; something about the aroma seemed a bit overdone and somewhat unnatural. Overall though, it was not bad. The fruit dominates the aroma, however...I had little sense of what kind of white and green tea was used as a base--it was weak and not very present. The flavor is smooth but on the weak side. ...
