This tea was disappointing. It didn't have the brightness or pungency that I was expecting, and that I have had in other simple, pure ginger "teas" (the only ingredient in this one was ginger -- no actual tea). Since the "gingery" quality was dull, the lack of any other flavor to compliment it was very notable. There isn't much more to say than ... meh.

UPDATE: It's still not my favorite, but this drink is far more palatable if you use two tea bags and add a small bit of honey.

Are there any brands of ginger tea in tea bags that you enjoy? I love brewing ginger tea from fresh-cut ginger root, but I've never been able to get the same flavor in a tea bag. Some lemon ginger teas though, using dried ginger in them, have been very enjoyable.

I once recall getting some ginger packets, like instant ginger tea, to be poured directly into hot water, from one of my friends, and these struck me as way ahead of some of the ginger tea bags I've tried. They were only labelled with Chinese characters though, so I have no idea how to locate them again, and that was a long time ago.

Yep, that sounds a lot like the kind of ginger tea I've liked the most. They were packets that you pour into water (or pour into a cup and then pour water over). I don't remember the brand either, unfortunately. I probably need to make a trip back to the Asian international market I found it at and pick up a variety of their teas. :-)

I did like the Lemon Ginger tea by Yogi Tea. It was far more spicy, and I could totally see that one tasting particularly good if you have a cold and want to clear out your sinuses with something citrusy. I think these three are, so far, the only ginger drinks I've tried--but if I find others then I'll certainly review them. :-)
