Commercial Description
Known for producing the finest low country tea, Nilagama is an estate of just under 1,000 hectares. It was established in the early 19th Century and is located in the Ratnapura District, an area that is famous as the home of the Ceylon Sapphire gemstone.

This was my first venture into "low elevation" Ceylon tea.
Produces a deep ruby liquor, with a very rounded and balanced flavor with light but noticeable "cocoa" in the aroma and taste. Not even remotely bitter. Balanced is a good word for this strong (caffeine-wise) single estate black tea.
Over steeping (4 1/2 minutes) gave me a nasty case of heartburn, but shorter infusion times of no more than 3 1/2 minutes was absolutely perfect for me and my sensitive stomach.
