Saw this Organic Assam on the Republic of Tea website and fondly remembered the Temi SFTGFOP1 First Flush Black Tea that Alex Zorach had sent me a sample of last year, so I had to give it a try.

This tea is organic TGFOP1 full leaf from the Hunwal Tea Estate, in the Jorhat area of Assam. Hunwal rises into the hills with crops being grown up to an altitude of 1000m above sea level. The resulting lower temperatures give the slower growing plants a unique strength and depth of character.

Dry leaves smell wonderful, with the typical malty biscuit tones found in this type of tea. A shame the aroma does not hold up in the brew...

Nice color and robust flavor. Full body, but did the depth of character did not hold up to a second steep. Still, a very good Assam that is sure to please.
