pretty bland in terms of aroma and taste (is that synonymous with Irish?), but good for a change once in a while.

Though they ended up with the same score, I actually liked the Irish Breakfast slightly better than the English Breakfast from Twinings. Unfortunately, to say I "enjoyed" it would still be too strong.

I was surprised it was it did not have more aroma, but it was very pleasant for such a low cost tea . Overall, I liked this tea. I am a new tea drinker.

decent smell that is mild black tea.... flavor is decently strong with light black tea flavor, a little bitter....what I would consider a very basic, plain tea x2

When I first tried this tea, I was quite young, and hated it. I can only assume that my young palate had not grown accustomed to strong black teas, because now I find it much more agreeable.
The flavor and aroma are both fairly good, much better than the English Breakfast tea. Definitely malty, and it takes very well to a small amount of cream and sugar. One of Twining's best black teas I think.

The aroma and flavor of this tea were not overwhelming, it had the typical maltiness of Assam and the tanginess of Ceylon but both were muted.
The flavor, although muted, is really pleasant and a good bagged tea for when you first wake up and really just want a quick, tasty, cup of tea. Very evocative of the tea I would drink for breakfast when I was a child.

This tea wasn't as strong as I expected, considering that it's an Irish Breakfast. Then again I've never been one to think that Irish Breakfast is strong, I've had stronger Assams. I'm a big fan of smells, so I appreciate its roasted aroma. I wouldn't go out of my way for this tea, but I liked it overall and would drink it again.

I like this tea. It's strong. It doesn't seem very notable. I added cream and sugar.

This is a pretty decent, strong black tea bag. I don't quite like it as much as Twinings' Ceylon Orange Pekoe, but it's close, and it's bolder tasting. The teabag contains fine dust, but it produces a good flavor.
Aroma is malty and rich; a few of the wintergreen tones I so love in tea, and the finish is mostly of rice. Tastes like a blend of Assam and Ceylon.
Smooth enough that you can steep for 3 minutes or even longer, but it does become somewhat bitter and astringent.
I'd be quite content to drink this stuff. I think it's among the better teas sold by Twinings, and above average for the basic brands of tea bags you can find in any supermarket.

When I first wake up, I don't have it in me to be a tea snob, carefully sniffing out the grassy hay notes in obscure Chinese teas. It's not what I crave at that hour, and the subtlety would be lost on me anyway.
So, with breakfast I usually like some kind of milky, sweetened, very strong black tea. A breakfast blend, or masala chai, or maybe an intentionally overbrewed earl grey.
This tea is definitely in the right genre - rich smell, robust and a bit loamy when you brew it straight off the boil. But, for me it was less than the sum of its parts. I like breakfast teas with a strong malt character, or at least a really full flavor profile, and this one somehow tasted thin. The maltiness definitely didn't come through as strongly as I would have wanted, and no matter how strongly I brew it, all the 'rich black tea' characteristics are there, but somehow more muted and thin than I would like. There's also a bizarre soapy aftertaste I get if I sweeten it too much.
I find it works best brewed as strong as you can manage - it doesn't easily become tannic - with light sugar and milk. But even then, there are better breakfast-y teas out there, including from Twinings.
