Aroma: Maple, brown sugar, chai spice. This is a nice smelling tea! 8/10

Flavor: This is a very good one. The maple is pronounced but not aggressive, the sweet and spicy plays fantastically. Even more so, the aftertaste is really inviting for another sip. 9/10

Body: Full. One of the fullest bodies blends I’ve ever had. 9/10

Value: Its a typical David’s cost. Fair but not cheap. 8/10

Overall: Absolutely buying more of this. One of the best blends I’ve had. 9/10

Aroma: You really almost smell butter cream icing. It’s a nice note but it’s not what I typically associate with red velvet cake. 7/10

Flavor: This also has a cake batter / icing type note. It’s pretty nice. 7/10

Body: Fairly full. It’s a nice compliment to the cake type drink. 8/10

Value: fairly priced but it’s not a bargain. 7/10

Overall: solid. With so many great blends from David’s, this is a fringe purchase. 7/10

Review of Espresso Yourself by Bailz

Prep: 200F, 5 min

Aroma: This really does give you the sense of a very nicely roasted coffee; however, there is a malty black tea note behind it 8/10

Flavor: This may be the best flavor on a black tea that I’ve had. Very darn close to a coffee with some sweet notes that balance out the beans. 9/10

Body: This could be a touch beefier but a splash of milk fixes that. 8/10

Value: It’s not cheap but it’s worth it. 8/10

Overall: absolutely a reorder. Fantastic. 9/10

Review of Chocolate Earl Grey by Bailz

Prep: 200F, 5min

Aroma: Clearly earl grey. Bergamot is very strong. Not unpleasant but a little disjointed. 6/10

Flavor: I tried this plain and then added a splash of almond milk. The milk blended out some rough edges and left a nice citrus flavor with the lightest kiss of cocoa. 7/10

Body: Medium to medium plus. Appropriate for the style. 7/10

Value: This is a little pricey considering earl grey is a bargain tea (often). The chocolate isn’t present enough for me to pay the premium 6/10

Aroma: This tea reminds me of a chocolate covered biscotti. Really inviting, very dessertlike. 8/10

Flavor: Very cocoa forward with a minor note of almond. 8/10

Body: This guy is a touch thin. More heft would make this decadent. 6/10

Value: Price seems fair at around 5 dollars per ounce. 8/10

Aroma: I really don’t know how they do it but they are a master of creating blends. This smells like a strawberry rhubarb pie in the best way. The souring notes of the rhubarb pop so well. 9/1

Flavor: There is a really nice fruit balance to this and the hibiscus body Balances out very well. The rhubarb especially pops here as well. 8/10

Flavor: This tastes like blue raspberry as well. I’m not sure if I’m as big of a fan of that for a dominant flavor but it is pretty good. 7/10

Body: Fairly medium. More heft here may do more harm than good. 7/10

Body: This is a lighter tea but it’s perfect for the flavor. 8/10

Value: 6.50/oz - This is not a low cost tea but I think the price is acceptable. Considering David’s drops 20% off fairly regularly, this is fair. 7/10

Aroma: There is something to be said for a tea smelling like WGT it’s called. There is a sense of buttery, sugary, french toast. 8/10

Flavor: This is in the zone as well. It does lean on the sweeter side of French toast but this has that richness that you’d associate with breakfast. 8/10

Very hard to steep, needs a low temp and short time to avoid turning it into an astringent bitter mess. Does not re-steep at all, one and done. While I love chocolate, and I love tea, in almost every case attempting to blend the two leaves you with little more than a watered-down cup of hot chocolate. Call me crazy, but hot chocolate is supposed to be rich and creamy, and somehow nobody ever seems to understand that!

I will say that DAVIDsTEA did a better job than most with their rendition. It’s a very rich chocolate, but still too thin for my taste. With candy cane pieces and snowflake sprinkles mixed into the tea, it has the appearance of being quite literally made for the holiday season. But does it taste festive? DAVIDsTEA bills it as a sweet, icy-cool peppermint black tea, so candy canes do seem to be what they’re going after, and that does have a sort of traditional festivity to it. The addition of chocolate to the mix results in an aroma that reminds me of a peppermint patty; not festiv...

Review of Cardamom French Toast by Evertiro

DAVIDsTEA claims they take their french toast very seriously. In my opinion, they’re right! When I first saw that they had a french toast tea, I couldn’t imagine it tasting anything like one of my favorite breakfasts. Boy was I wrong! The Cardamom French Toast tea is rich, creamy, and tastes just like a buttery slice of french toast.

It’s billed as a zesty blend of “warm cinnamon, cardamom and zesty orange peel,” and they aren’t wrong. The cinnamon and cardamom are well-balanced and rich, and the orange peel provides a decent kick to go along with the lightly caffeinated oolong tea.

I gave it several chances. I brewed it first using the method that worked reliably with the Maeda-en gyokuro, but it was bitter and made me extremely jittery. I tried converting the annoying, proprietary "perfect spoonful" measurements into teaspoons (from what I found, 1 "perfect spoonful" = 2.5 tsp) and brewed it according to the DAVID's TEA directions, but it turned out even worse — horribly bitter and it made me ...

Review of Kenyan Tinderet by Brytta Sóþword

This tea is made up of small pellets when dry. I brewed it at 205 F by pouring water over it and then allowing it to steep awhile. It never became bitter or unpleasant. It reminds me of a mixture of aspects of breakfast black teas and darjeelings. For a fairly simple morning tea, it has a nice caffeine zing without bitterness.

In all honesty, it looked more like a candy store than a tea shop. It had all these colorful spoons and containers and most of their "teas" looked more like trail mix or confetti than tea (some of them had the ingredients to trail mix in them).
