Dong Ding Oolong from Tradition
Style: Jade Oolong – Region: Taiwan / Formosa83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 12th, 2013
I was happy with this tea, and especially its reasonable price! To me, it had a subtle taste, like most oolongs, and I was happy with how smooth and soothing it was to drink. I'm hoping to buy some the next time I go to my local Asian supermarket :)

The aroma is kind of unpleasantly sweet, but the flavor is really good. It's crisp, and not too bitter. I added cream and sugar.

Style: Tulsi / Holy Basil – Region: India83 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 11th, 2013
For me, the flavor of this tea was the least interesting thing about it. It's complex, herbal, a bit cinnamon-spicy, less basil-like than I would have expected. Some bitterness, and it was annoyingly hard to stop little fragments of leaf from leaking into the brew, which is a pet peeve of mine. It disrupts the texture ...

Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 11th, 2013
This tea is pretty good. It turned out really light-colored when I first brewed it, compared to other white peony teas. It also took a long time. It's pretty flavorful - it has a nice sweet flavor, but it doesn't have the same intensity to it as the Prince of Peace tea that I always drink. I don't like it as much. I ad...

Style: Gyokuro – Region: Japan73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 10th, 2013
As a matter of preference, I should say that my 'ideal' Gyokuro tastes strongly umami, a bit sweet, and grassy/vegetal on the finish. I was able to get Aiya's Gyukuro to display something like this flavor profile - along with a pleasantly sharp, matcha-like aroma - when I brewed a relatively heaping teaspoon of it for ...

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 10th, 2013
Having not drunk Typhoo for some time, recent experiences with it suggest it is unlikely to become a regular purchase. Firmly at the budget end of branded tea, a spectacular deal saw us buy some.
At first sight, things appeared promising: the somewhat nondescript aroma forgotten as a good dark colour appeared that ...
Organic Superfine Keemun Fragrant Black Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Keemun – Region: Huangshan, Anhui, China91 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 9th, 2013
I find it interesting how different people I have given this tea to have perceived it differently. I thought it a top-notch tea, but I also found that it doesn't have as much of a universal appeal as some high-quality teas.
Dry leaf is pleasingly aromatic, and shares a lot of qualities in common with top-quality bl...
Organic Superfine Keemun Fragrant Black Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Keemun – Region: Huangshan, Anhui, China60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Feb. 9th, 2013
I thought this tea was good for a basic black. The flavor wasn't as complex as the description suggests. I noticed more of a smokey taste than floral and fruity undertones. I enjoyed this tea overall, but I probably wouldn't buy it on my own for its listed price.

Feb. 9th, 2013
I thought this tea was good. The smell reminded me freshly peeled oranges, and, for how strong it was, I was surprised that the flavor was so subtle. I'd recommend it for a basic flavored tea, if you are in the mood for something that isn't terribly overpowering.

Feb. 9th, 2013
Usually when I write a review, I do it from the perspective of trying to give whoever reads it a sense of what to expect - what the tea is likely to taste like, how it will respond to different kinds of brewing conditions, what other kinds of teas and experiences it's likely to resemble - rather than saying whether I t...

I played around with the brewing times on this one a bit, and find that I like it best a little 'overbrewed'. The website says to steep it at 176F for about a minute and a half, but that made it come out a little bland by my standards. Doubling the time to three minutes produced a bracing, umami type flavor I really li...

I love this tea! It has a perfect blend of spices, and the base tea is strong enough. By the look of it, it appears to be heavy on cardamom. I added cream and sugar.

I notice that a lot of people who review teas use this turn of phrase "everyday tea", which I take to mean something unfussy and satisfying that you can happily drink on a regular basis. This tea had that quality for me.
The instructions say to brew it a little hotter and shorter than I'm used to with green teas - a...

Masala Chai Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Blend83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

My favorite masala tea so far. The aromas are very pleasant; cinnamon, ginger and cloves predominate. The brew is mild with just a little astringency. Addition of some honey and milk make for a very smooth cuppa to start the morning off.

Feb. 3rd, 2013
As usual, I am impressed with how reasonably priced Ahmad Teas can be! This tea was a great buy, with a subtle flavor of cardamom and smooth texture. I didn't find the cardamom taste overpowering at all, although the dried leaf did smell heavily of it!

If I have to drink bagged tea, I'll opt for this one. The scent and flavor are not too far off from Twinings' loose Earl Grey, which is my standard supermarket tea. The scent and flavor are strong but not overpowering; it's a little heavy on the bergamot, but that's the way I like it!

Yet another outstanding black tea from Arbor Teas! My initial reaction of "this is another good black tea, not the best, but really good" changed about 3/4 of the way through my cup! While this tea didn't pack as much of a punch as the Assam Black, I loved the subtle and smooth flavor and fully appreciated the velvet...

Dry leaf has an intoxicating rum-like or almost whiskey-like (bourbon) aroma that I find very pleasant. More similar to the Vanilla tea sold by Arbor Teas than to any other Coconut-flavored tea I've encountered before. Lighter overall than that tea, and less cocoa-ey.
Very pleasing to drink. Brews a robust, rich ...
Assam TGFOP Black Tea from Arbor Teas

This has to be one of the best black teas that I've had so far! The tea has a smokey smell and the flavor is rich and complex, much more so than an average black tea - I look forward to having it again soon :)
