Gyokuro Imperial Green Tea from Teavana
Style: Gyokuro – Region: Japan93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 18th, 2012
This is one of my favorite teas, it's good any time of year. Gyokura Imperial (to me) epitomizes what you want from a Japanese green tea; it's dark, complex, has a hint of seaweed, but somehow manages to be light and airy at the same time. As the other reviewer mentioned, the aroma is fresh cut grass mixed with a hin...

Very pleasing!
This blend was a lot like a lemon-ginger blend with added depth from the turmeric. I liked it much better than any straight lemon-ginger herbal blend, though. I find this blend had just the right amount of each ingredient.
The flavor is tangy but without being overly sour. Mouthfeel is peppery, ...

This doesn't taste much like Earl Grey. I think the bitterness of the tea dominates the flavor. I don't like it much. I added cream and sugar.

I didn't like this tea much. It doesn't have much of an aroma at all, and the flavor isn't very strong. I added cream and sugar.

The first time I brewed this tea, it had a dry aroma, but I liked it. Although it was a bit bitter, it was strong and full-bodied. The second infusion had a more flavorful and interesting aroma, and was less bitter, but still strong. I liked it better. I added cream and sugar.

It's been a while since I tried this so my review is from a fuzzy memory, but I remember this tea blend as being fleetingly fruity and not having much of a strong presence of the base tea at all. Tasted pretty low quality, but then I've been consistently underwhelmed by Trader Joe's teas, so this was not surprising.

The only tea I've ever tried from Rwanda: a humble teabag with finely-broken tea fannings.
Exceptionally strong and robust: this makes some Assam tea look weak! Good with milk and one of the few teas that I actually preferred this way. Brews a very dark blackish-brown cup, opaque, almost like black coffee. Yet le...
Pomegranate White Tea from Trader Joe's

Not as good as I thought it was going to be, but maybe it's because I am a black tea person. The slight lemongrass flavor is the best part. Otherwise, it tastes more like hibiscus than pomegranate.

This tea smells like those gummy candy peach rings, which I don't particularly like. I'm not very fond of this tea, but I don't normally like peach flavored teas or teas with peachy notes very much. I added cream and sugar.

This tea is pretty good. It has just the right amount of bergamot for me (which may be less than most Earl Grey enthusiasts like). I added cream and sugar.

I really liked this tea - for its price it is really a steal! I was suprised to find out that this tea is less expensive than Lipton, it definitely gives you more - I would definitely choose this as a staple basic tea to have around the house.

I'm no expert on Gyokuro, but I will say that, at least to my tastes, this was a top-notch example of one.
I sampled this at World Tea East, but I found I liked it better when I brewed it myself. Harney recommends 155F and 3 minutes. For one teaspoon, I found I liked the results better with a little hotter water (...
Pu-erh Ginger from Rishi Tea
Style: Flavored Pu-erh – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 7th, 2012
Quite good! Rich and warming, yet zesty and fresh.
I tend to not like most fermented Pu-erh, and I am especially not fond of Pu-erh blends, but the only other blend including fermented Pu-erh that I like is produced by Rishi (their Vanilla mint Pu-erh), so I thought I'd give this one a chance too. And I liked it!

Aroma: Apple, cinnamon, and something else "woody." Label says it contains orange peel, carob and chicory; perhaps these give that effect. Smells of fall; a touch overbearing, but comforting.

Madagascar Vanilla Rooibos (Red Tea) from Celestial Seasonings
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend73 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 6th, 2012
Aroma: sweet, floral and earthy.
Flavor: a touch on the light side; no more than 10 oz H20 per bag. Begins with the woody/herbal character of the rooibos, followed by the vanilla sweetness.
Value: Solid- not expensive, and convenient.
Overall: I love rooibos, and this is a perennial favorite.
Black Saffron from Hampstead Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 6th, 2012
I liked this tea. I thought it was pretty typical for a black tea, but sometimes that is all I need. It had a subtle flavor and the texture was really smooth. The price seems pretty reasonable to me. This is the first time I had Hampstead Tea, and after having this tea, I would buy from them again.

I had the opportunity to sample this tea at World Tea East, and speak to this company's founder, Brandon Ford. I was not only impressed with the teas, but with how Brandon's description of each tea meshed with my experience of it--I find it hard to capture the qualities of tea in words, so that was impressive.

I fell in love with Hampstead tea's loose-leaf Darjeeling some time ago, and it was not before picking up some samples at World Tea East this year that I had an opportunity to try any of their tea bags.

I enjoy Spiced Rooibos as an alternative to Constant Comment. I was dissappointed to see it has no caffeine. I got it free at a hotel in Indiana, but will look for it in the stores.
