Picture of Organic Decaf English Breakfast

Organic Decaf English Breakfast from Paisley Label Tea (Paisley Tea Co)

Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend

37 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 1/5
Aug. 20th, 2012

This tea smells kind of like green tea, which I don't like. The flavor is kind of bland, but okay. I would never buy it because I can find cheaper versions of basic decaf black tea that taste better. I added cream and sugar.

Picture of Superfine Pre-Ming Dragon Well Long Jing Tea

Superfine Pre-Ming Dragon Well Long Jing Tea from TeaVivre

Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China

87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 20th, 2012

This struck me as a very high-quality tea, quite distinct from any other dragon well / long jing, and unlike anything I have ever tried. A bit more like yellow tea than green tea.

Dry leaf is golden-green, and has a very fine and extremely dusty appearance, and is very powerfully aromatic, with a deeper, toastier a...

Picture of Organic Earl Grey (Formerly Double Earl Grey)

Organic Earl Grey (Formerly Double Earl Grey) from Paisley Label Tea (Paisley Tea Co)

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Aug. 19th, 2012

This doesn't taste like double Earl Grey, in fact I can barely taste the bergamot at all. But even as a plain black tea, I don't like it much because it's a bit too bitter, and it has a very bitter aftertaste. It strengthens very quickly. I usually like tea strong, and I found that 2 minutes was a good brewing time. I ...

Cardamon Tea (Cardamom Tea, Loose) from Ahmad Tea

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend

83 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 18th, 2012

I really liked this tea when I first tried it, but I got tired of it after a while. I didn't really know what I thought of cardamom before trying it, but now I think I like cardamom. I usually like chai tea, so it's not surprising. The flavor blends nicely with the tea. I brewed it too weak the first time - it takes ab...

Caramel Latte from Shanti Tea

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend

83 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 17th, 2012

This tea smells like heaven on a bun, minus the bun (as my friend would say). It has a rich, smoky, roasty, sweet caramel-flavored aroma, which I, as a coffee and sweets lover, am drawn to. So I was a bit disappointed by the taste, but it was still very good. I love caramel-flavored teas, but I can't taste the caramel ...

Picture of Irish Breakfast

Irish Breakfast from Epi Tea

Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Blend

67 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Aug. 17th, 2012

Tea bag has little aroma, but upon brewing the aroma really emerges...rich, malty, and complex.

Brews a very dark cup, very full-bodied and thick. Although this is among the most full-bodied teas I've sampled in quite a long time, and the aroma is powerful, the flavor is surprisingly weak, especially for this style...

Lavender Earl Grey from Epi Tea

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend

67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Aug. 16th, 2012

Brews a very dark cup, quite strong but without being overwhelming.

Aroma is very complex: the inclusion of lavender with a robust, malty base tea produces an illusion of spice, suggestive of mace, allspice, or cinnamon, and a rich, bready quality. There's a lacey sort of floral and fruity quality, almost suggesti...

Fengqing Dragon Pearl Black Tea from TeaVivre

Style: Yunnan Red – Region: Fengqing, Yunnan, China

83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 16th, 2012

In spite of having tried quite a few Yunnan teas by now, this was something completely different for me! Very interesting, although a little bit difficult to brew to satisfaction. The dry leaf, rolled into dense spheres, has only a mild aroma, more suggestive of Keemun than other Yunnan teas.

I first used a small ...

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 14th, 2012

One of my favorite bagged teas in the morning is Numi's Breakfast Blend. The tea blends four Fair Trade organic black teas: Assam, Ceylon, Darjeeling and Keemun. The blend combines the best of the four types into a flavorful and pleasing brew; strong flavored yet mild.

Style: Jasmine Silver Needle – Region: Fuding, Fujian, China

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Aug. 13th, 2012

Yet another Chinese tea from TeaVivre, of very high quality that is exactly what I'd expect for its style.

Dry leaf extremely aromatic, with an intense Jasmine aroma that is almost overwhelming. Looks like a typical silver needle, very attractive-looking, delicate silvery buds with downy white hair.

Citrus Punch from Shanti Tea

Style: Flavored Oolong – Region: Blend

43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Aug. 12th, 2012

This tea tastes kind of weird, but maybe that's because I added cream and sugar. I can't get it to brew strong enough for my taste, and I think the oolong is overpowered by the orange flavor. I thought it smelled pretty good when the leaves were brewing, though. It smelled kind of like Apple Jacks.

Aug. 12th, 2012

This tea is actually really good. It's not was I was expecting, because it has a rooibos base, and I don't like rooibos, but the berry flavor overpowers it. It smells kind of like candy. I added cream and sugar, and it actually blends really well with the cream, which also surprised me.

Mengku Palace Ripened Golden Buds Loose Pu-erh Tea 2007 from TeaVivre

Style: Ripened (Shou) Pu-erh – Region: Shuangjiang, Yunnan, China

60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Aug. 9th, 2012

The dry leaf of this looks unusually wiry and tippy for a ripe Pu-erh, with a lot of golden tips. It is quite aromatic, and the aroma is typical for ripe Pu-erh, with perhaps only a faint suggestion of more complexity.

Upon brewing, 1 teaspoon of leaf and 1 minute as recommeded for one cup, this produces a dark col...

Original Cacao Tea from Tisano

If you enjoy the aroma of chocolate as well as the flavor, this is a delightful treat.

I think I should be using more of the husk than I used last time, but still has a nice natural sweetness. That said, I drink it straight, but trend toward very dark chocolate anyway (90%) and add raw cacao nibs to food which has ...

An organic tea of very good quality for a very good price!

Loose leaf has a very dark green color and a pungency suggesting fruity, grassy, and herbaceous qualities. The leaf is slow to unfurl and infuses quite slowly.

Upon brewing, the tea is surprisingly light in color and has an aroma equally suggesting of li...

This tea is interesting. The first thing I notice is that it smells like beets - not a flavor that I like to associate with tea, at least not in this context. The flavor is good, though. At first it seemed weird, but after a few sips it started to taste really good. I added cream and sugar.

My Morning Mate Tea from Teavana

Aug. 7th, 2012

My morning mate has a very smooth, light taste with hints of chocolate. The chocolate flavor is not overpowering, and it is a nice compliment to the nuts in this tea. The only thing I found a bit disappointing is that I wish the flavor would have been stronger. It doesn't have much of a kick taste-wise, but certainly w...
