Berry DeTox from Yogi Tea
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 10th, 2011
This tea has a not so enticing potpouri aroma, but luckily, does not taste like that. It has a nice berry flavor, with natural sweetness from the Stevia. The honeybush also makes it a little smoother, so it has a nice blend.
If steeped too long, more than five or six minutes, it gets very intense in flavors of fen...

it tastes lovely, and i enjoy it quite a bit, but i wouldn't call it "ultra" spice. the tea itself is delightful, but i was expecting it to be spicier with a name like that... it was a teensy bit disappointing.

Style: Green Tea – Region: Kenya60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 8th, 2011
The dry leaf is thin and wiry, golden in color, and without much aroma.
Upon brewing, the cup produces a dark cup with a wonderful, rich aroma, like one of the darker, richer Chinese pan-fired green teas, but with a vegetal quality usually only found in Darjeeling green and oolongs. The aroma is grassy and fruity, ...
Kenya Silverback White from Imperial Tea Garden
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Kenya83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 7th, 2011
Leaf looks like a silver needle white tea with leaves on the smallish side, but with a much deeper golden yellow color.
Brewed, the aroma is very unlike other silver needle teas, and much stronger. Aroma is predominately toasty, nutty and woody, strongly reminiscent of hojicha, especially roasted kukicha, with a to...
Moon Swirl White Tip from Imperial Tea Garden
Style: Green Tea – Region: Hunan, China83 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 5th, 2011
A fascinating green tea completely unlike anything I've ever sampled before, although admittedly, it's my first tea from Hunan province so that may explain the novelty for me. The tightly-rolled tea looks almost oolong-like, rather unlike Bi-luo chun or gunpowder green tea, but upon brewing, it unfurls to look more li...

Style: Flavored White Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 5th, 2011
Decent, Christmassy tea with an unusual combination of flavors. The flavor that comes across strongest to me is the vanilla. I also for some reason taste peppermint, which is not listed as one of the ingredients. I don't like this one as much as Harney and Sons' Holiday Tea, but I do enjoy it and it does manage to t...

Style: Tie Guan Yin – Region: Anxi, Fujian, China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 5th, 2011
This oolong has a noticeable roasted quality but still a lot of greener character. It comes across as both toasty and fresh, and is very complex.
The cup brews a dark color, and the leaves turn a dark olive-brown upon steeping. The aroma is both woody and herbaceous, and has tones of nut, cocoa, and spice (especia...
Green Tea with Jasmine Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Jasmine Pearls – Region: China87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 4th, 2011
This is my favorite bagged jasmine tea. The green tea provides a solid base, and the jasmine adds complexity to the flavor. Still, it's not a subtle tea, and feels like what an English green tea should be: forthright.
The tea has a slight bitter aftertaste, but it is not unpleasant if the tea is steeped briefly. The...
Monks Reserve-Castelton Estate from Fresh Darjeeling Tea
Style: Darjeeling Oolong – Region: Darjeeling, India67 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 3rd, 2011
I don't know how to describe this tea. It tastes a little bit fruity, kind of peach-like maybe. It has a sort of smoky aroma. I don't think it's quite my cup of tea. It's a little too weird.

This tea is really good. It has an awesome malty flavor that really hits the spot. I added cream and sugar. I'm impressed because it was the cheapest brand of tea bags at the store. Amazing value.
Update: I used to like this tea a lot, but my tastes have changed since then and now I just think it's pretty good, but...
Special Pouchong from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Pouchong Tea – Region: Taiwan / Formosa40 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 1/5

This tea isn't as bad as I thought it would be, from the way the leaf smelled. It's mild, and not too vegetable-like. I added cream and sugar.

Exquisite! I think I've found a new favorite black tea.
The dry leaf is rather plain and uninteresting looking, brown, with a dusty appearance. Yet it is wonderfully aromatic, foretelling the wonderful brewing experience that followed. I knew that I had found something exceptional the moment I first smelled the d...
Decaffeinated Green Tea (48 ct.) from Bromley Tea
Style: Green Tea – Region: ?????100 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 2nd, 2011
When I retired and left the east coast I bought boxes (6) of the decaf green tea and I'm now out and unable to find it in California - I have found it online and I plan to order in the near future - I am down to one tea bag. I do appreciate this tea it's quite delicious not bitter but nice and smooth.
Strictly Strawberry from SerendipiTea
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 1st, 2011
Intensely fruity, very strong strawberry aroma. Tangy but not overwhelmingly so. This blend does contain hibiscus, presumably to make it sour and impart a red color, and I find some of these fruit blends overdo it on the hibiscus, but the amount in this one is good.
This is not my favorite style of herbal tea, but...
Flowering Jasmine Teas (Fairy Lily) from Primula Tea
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: China33 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 1st, 2011
This one was just odd. The aroma was predominately of olive, like good, strong Kalamata olives. I've had olive-like tones in tea before, and they can be pleasant, but I've never encountered a tea dominated by this aroma.
The olive lingers on the palate, leaving a salty, sour, and savory taste, much like I actually...
Dae-Jak Korean Green Tea from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Green Tea – Region: South Korea73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 1st, 2011
This is the first Korean-grown tea I've ever sampled, and I liked it a lot. It is a broken-leaf tea with a rather uninteresting-looking dry leaf that becomes pleasantly delicate-looking after it is brewed.
I found this tea hard to describe. It brews a clear greenish cup with small flecks of tea leaf. The aroma is...
Ceylon Tea OPA from Ahmad Tea

This tea is mostly good, but it has a slight vegetal flavor and aroma that I don't like so much. I added cream and sugar.

This tea is yet another amazing find for me of a tea offering truly exceptional value. After being seriously impressed with Ahmad Tea's Kalami Assam, I decided to check out this tea, an even larger-leaf black tea that was only very slightly higher in price.
The dry leaf is huge, among the largest I have seen of any...
Ginger Peach Red Tea from Republic of Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 28th, 2011
I like this tea substantially better than the black tea versions of it, especially the decaf one. The aroma is very similar to the decaf ginger peach, but I think more pleasing and more complex, owing to the replacement with the rather aroma-less decaffeinated black tea with the natural rooibos.
It's not the best q...
Woman’s Raspberry Leaf from Yogi Tea
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

This tea is really good for an herbal tea. I don't like a lot of herbal teas, but this tastes kind of like black tea, with a slight hint of raspberry. I added cream and sugar.

Nov. 28th, 2011
A classic Yunnan black tea, unusually smooth for a tea bag. Aroma is complex, with hints of cocoa, wood, and fruit. Peppery finish, characteristic of Yunnan teas.
I recommend a longer steeping time (5+ min). This tea is not as aromatic as a loose-leaf Yunnan, and its flavor is mild so you can steep it for a long ...
Kenilworth Estate OP from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Ceylon Black Tea – Region: Kandy, Sri Lanka73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 27th, 2011
A classic Ceylon. Aroma of the dry leaf is fruity, but this doesn't come through in the brewed cup.
Brews a dark but surprisingly clear cup. Earthy, with savory qualities. Aroma suggests potato and wintergreen, a hint of malt and cocoa. Astringent finish. Not the smoothest tea, and particularly, with more astri...
