Special Pouchong from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Pouchong Tea – Region: Taiwan / Formosa40 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 1/5
Oct. 21st, 2011
This is the same tea that can be purchased in large boxes in some Asian markets. It is not the same as the loose-leaf teas sold in Ten-Ren's stores. After being impressed with Ten Ren's 3rd grade pouchong, this one, which is about the same price, was sorely disappointing.
Dry leaf, which is mostly larger pieces of...
Breakfast Blend Organic Black Tea from Samovar Tea Lounge
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 20th, 2011
Nice smooth, full bodied, malty, and a light briskness. Reminds me very much of Rishi Tea's Golden Yunnan Organic Black Tea, but a bit lighter on peppery tones. It is a beautiful blend of Dian Hong style tea (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dian_hong_tea) mixing whole leaf top-quality tea and a high content of fine go...

I have enjoyed the loose leaf version of this tea for some time, and the tea bag version holds up well at transmitting the flavor, aroma and quality in a convenient form. I miss seeing the teas unfurl, and the color brew up but it is still very satisfying. I wish this tea was more widely available in the US. It is read...

This is a regular favorite for me. I'm most likely to drink it in a cold morning, but I enjoy it at all times of year.
This tea offers extraordinary quality for its price! I bought a pound of it for $6.15 at a middle-eastern grocery store. It is large pieces of broken leaves.
Dry leaf has a rich and complex ar...
Orchid Sprout Green Tea from Wild Tea Qi
Style: Green Tea – Region: Sichuan, China87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 19th, 2011
Beautiful, intense green-yellow leaves produce a rich, golden-green infusion that is very clear. Dry leaf looks like dragonwell in appearance. Upon brewing, the leaf loses its yellowish color and becomes lighter in color, almost grayish. The leaf looks very delicate.
Aroma is surprisingly strong and fresh. Grass...
Tianmu Ming Dynasty Green Tea from Imperial Tea Garden
Style: Green Tea – Region: Zhejiang, China67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 18th, 2011
This tea resembles a good mao feng green tea: it has long, flat, slightly curved leaves, and a taste reminiscent of other Mao Feng that I've had. The leaves are a bit narrower and more needle-like in appearance than most mao feng.
The first time I brewed this tea, it did not leave much of an impression on me. I up...
Ancient Gold Organic Black Tea from Samovar Tea Lounge
Style: Yunnan Gold – Region: Yunnan, China90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

Jingmai Mountain produces some amazing teas, and this one from Samovar is no exception. They are right on the money when they describe the taste and aroma as: "Deep and malty with hints of baked, bittersweet chocolate and raisin sugar. Lightly roasted body with a slightly sweet finish."
Optimal brewing is with sprin...
Darjeeling (Loose) from Ahmad Tea
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

Note: This is for the loose leaf version of this tea>
There are many cheap Darjeeling teas out there, but I doubt you will find one this good at this price. I picked up 10 ounces for less that $5 at my local Indian Grocery, and was pleasantly surprised. Good flavor and just the right hint of muscatel in the very pleas...
Alpine Berry Herbal from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Europe43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 14th, 2011
Not too sour. Mildly sour, also mildly sweet. Subtle, balanced. Fairly strong fruitiness but not as artificial-tasting as some of these blends. Aroma of hibiscus, apple, and berries.
I'm not crazy about these types of blends. This may have been above average for this style of herbal tea, and I did drink it and ...
Organic Easy Digestion from Helps
Style: Wellness Tea / Medicinal Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

This blend contains three herbs that I like a fair amount, but would not blend in this particular combination for taste alone. The aroma is muddled and somewhat heavy. The chamomile dominates, and the anise is noticeable too...the mint takes a background.
The flavor is both sweet and bitter.
This is an interest...

I didn't like this blend of Tulsi tea. It had a strange taste. It was not worth buying.

Oct. 12th, 2011
This tea has a nice, dark color and a crisp, smoky aroma. The flavor is not bitter, not too dry and not very smoky at all, as I thought it would be from the aroma and my experience with other Keemun teas. It is even less smoky than its nearly as delicious sibling, Hao Ya “B”. It has a very clean, crisp, fresh tast...

This pu'er tea is kind of a flat and earthy tea (maybe even a little bready) with pretty simple characteristics, but it has nice qualities overall, and is very calming. Overall, it left a good impression on me.
I read one review of this tea that complained about it being "dusty." The photo accompanying the review sh...
Cranberry Tea from Adagio Teas
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 11th, 2011
For the most part, I like this tea, but there is a caramel-like quality to the aroma that I find objectionable. It's not clear what ingredient imparts this quality. Besides that, I think the tea is pretty good.
The base is a standard, full-bodied Ceylon of good quality, and in this blend, the base tea is pretty so...
Organic South Indian Select Tea from Novus Tea

This tea is pretty good. It has a nice, sweet aroma that reminds me of oolong. The flavor is pretty mild, though. I added cream and sugar.

This tea is okay. I'm not sure I like Darjeeling very much. I'm starting to think I don't, in general. It has a weird flavor that I don't particularly like. This one isn't too bad compared to other ones I've tried, though. I drank it with cream and sugar.

I was a bit scared after my terrible experience with Ronnefeldt's Japanese green tea, but this one turned out to be quite a few notches up from that one (which was undrinkable).

I can definitely notice the thyme, linden, and fennel in the aroma. I don't know what mallow and elderflower smell like, so I can't identify them. The aroma is earthy and herbaceous, mostly dominated by the thyme.
Flavor is moderately bitter. This tea has a sort of slimy mouthfeel, for lack of a better descriptor...
Organic Caramel Peach from Ronnefeldt
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 10th, 2011
This tea is really good. I was surprised. I don't usually like fruity teas, but the peach blends in with the caramel flavor very well, and the caramel gives this tea an awesome sweet flavor. I added cream and sugar.

Dry leaf has an intense aroma of cocoa. Upon brewing the tea, the aroma becomes much more complex.
I brewed this tea western style and was surprised at how many infusions it lasted through. It is rare for me to find teas that can hold up to three long infusions, using less leaf. This tea lasted through four.

This tea has a sort of vegetable-like aroma that I don't like much. It's interesting, though. It has a kind of peachy flavor. I'm not a big fan of fruity teas, so I don't like it a lot, but it's okay. I added cream and sugar.

I don't like this tea. It just tastes like cinnamon, and it especially has an overwhelming cinnamon aroma that makes me not want to drink it. But the flavor isn't quite as terrible. It tastes kind of like those red hot candies, which I hate, but if you like them, then you might like this tea. I added cream and sugar.
