Typhoo Tea from Typhoo
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 15th, 2011
This has been my favorite brand of tea over 30 years. I first drank Typhoo Tea in my student days in England. I have tried other British and Irish teas, but have always come back to Typhoo.
This is a strong breakfast tea, but with more flavor and strength than teas called 'English Breakfast' in the US. It is not a...
Gingerbread Tea from Adagio Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 15th, 2011
This tea is really good. It tastes a lot like chai, which I like. Nice amount of ginger, but I can't really taste the bread. I added cream and sugar.

Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: Egypt77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 15th, 2011
This is a classic chamomile, moderately fruity, but not the fruitiest I've tried. I steeped it for a very long time, but it did not become unpleasantly bitter, which is good. The differences between different batches of chamomile I've had are subtle, but I think this is among the better ones.
Sweeter and smoother ...
White Peony (Pai Mu Tan) from Adagio Teas
Style: White Peony Tea – Region: Fujian, China90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 14th, 2011
Not what I expected, and actually, far exceeding any expectations I had! This is my favorite Pai Mu Tan sampled yet, and is far out ahead of any of the other contenders.
I had this as a sample in a tea sachet. The sachet contains the same tea that is sold as loose-leaf. I will note that the sachet was very large,...
Candy Apple Tea from Adagio Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 14th, 2011
This tea has a nice aroma, but the flavor is a little weak. The cinnamon doesn't blend very well with the apple flavor. It's a little too fruity for my taste, but I don't usually like fruit flavored teas. I like the caramel flavor, though. I added cream and sugar.

Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 14th, 2011
Very dark for a Darjeeling, but still relatively light body and flavor. Complex and interesting aroma, including grapes, a pleasing hint of a tobacco-like quality that I find is rare in Darjeelings, and some tones of toasted rye bread. Flavor very smooth.
Good for two flavorful infusions.
Another good tea from ...
Ti Kuan Yin (Oolong Goddess) from Adagio Teas
Style: Tie Guan Yin – Region: Fujian, China70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 14th, 2011
This is a very balanced Tie Guan Yin. It is darker than a lot of the modern green Chinese Oolongs, but lighter than some of the traditional dark roast ones. The cup comes out a dark amber or light brown.
The aroma is slightly floral, with a hint of woody tones. Very full-bodied; slightly honey-like upon drinking....
Organic English Breakfast from Harney and Sons
Style: English Breakfast – Region: China53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 13th, 2011
This tea was interesting to me as it is pure Keemun, and not a blend of different teas, or predominately Ceylon possibly with some Assam, the way a lot of English breakfast blends nowadays are. I don't know much about the history of tea so I can't say much about the authenticity of this tea.
I will say, compared to...
Chestnut Tea from Adagio Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 13th, 2011
This tea is really good! It has this malty flavor that I love. It's strong and not too bitter. I think it would appeal to people who usually prefer coffee, but want to try something different. I added cream and sugar.

Style: Black Tea – Region: Kisii, Kenya83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 13th, 2011
This tea was remarkably high-quality for the fact that it is finely broken, mechanically-processed CTC tea. It was also incredibly interesting!
Aroma is grainy, slightly malty, and very pleasing. Has somewhat of a high-grown character, combined with malty characteristics. Rather distinct. I can see how others sa...
English Breakfast from Revolution Tea
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 13th, 2011
Moderate strength, relatively full-bodied, but considerably less bitter than typical for an English breakfast.
I think I prefer the green and white teas from Revolution tea, but this one was not bad.
Pricey though, for the quality. Revolution's other teas, in my opinion, deliver something more unique whereas thi...
Chestnut Tea from Adagio Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 12th, 2011
I love chestnuts, and I could imagine them going well with black tea, so I was eager to try this one.
The aroma is very strong, a sort of caramelly, nutty quality. Although it's very nutty, it doesn't taste at all like chestnuts to me. It taste more like pecans than anything else...a buttery sort of pecan flavor, ...
Pumpkin Spice Tea from Adagio Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 12th, 2011
Mmm, this tea is good. It tastes a bit weak, though, and I don't want it to get too bitter. But I like the blend of spices. It's a little like chai, and I'm a big chai fan, but I like that this tea has much less cinnamon flavor. I can barely taste the pumpkin. I added cream and sugar.

Style: Green Tea with Mint – Region: Blend73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 12th, 2011
I really prefer blends of green tea with spearmint to those containing peppermint, but given that this is a peppermint blend, I think it is quite outstanding.
The peppermint has a candy-like quality, clean, clear, and suggesting sweetness. The base tea is smooth, slightly sweet, and believe it or not, blends seamle...
Peppermint Guayusa from Runa
Style: Flavored Guayusa – Region: Blend43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 12th, 2011
This tastes a lot like plain peppermint. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's all right. I'm not a big fan of herbal teas in general. I'm drinking it with cream and sugar.

Style: Yunnan Gold – Region: Yunnan, China67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 12th, 2011
This tea is mostly golden buds, and it is very similar to the other tea I've sampled that looks most similar to it in appearance, which was Life in Teacup's Yunnan Golden Bud. Smooth and peppery. Compared to that tea, this one has a softer peppery quality. Both teas are slightly Keemun-like.
Requires a long brewi...
Silver Needle from Adagio Teas
Style: Silver Needle – Region: Fujian, China60 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 11th, 2011
I was expecting this tea to be too weak for my taste, but it actually had a good amount of flavor. I'm not the best judge of gourmet teas, though, but I've started liking white teas more. The silver needle doesn't have as much of the tangy flavor of other white teas I've tasted.

Style: Flavored Guayusa – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 11th, 2011
This is pretty good for an herbal tea. I don't usually like herbal teas. It smells mostly like cinnamon. It funny that it's called Guayusa Spice, and the only spice it has is cinnamon. The flavor is pretty good, though. I added cream and sugar.

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Japan83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 10th, 2011
Genmaicha is one of those teas that is really comforting, and always goes well with food. But some of the versions available in the US are really of poor quality. By offering you the roasted brown rice in this way you can adjust proportions and use it with what ever tea you prefer. I had some samples of sencha that wer...

Style: Sencha – Region: Kagoshima, Japan80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 9th, 2011
Among the cloudiest / most opaque sencha's I've seen...bright green in color, even in the second infusion.
Aroma and flavor are actually very similar to kukicha...less of the seaweedy or ocean-like qualities, fairly grassy, and almost twiggy. Also somewhat matcha-like.
This was an interesting change of pace...qu...
Irish Breakfast Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 8th, 2011
This is the dark, bitter brother to Taylor's Scottish breakfast tea. Blended to be drunk with milk, it is a real eye opener if you try it alone. Hearty rather than robust, it makes a pretty decent cup with some malty flavor and only a tiny bit of brightness.
I bought 20 bags for about $3 at a local import store, wh...
Scottish Breakfast Tea Bags from Taylors of Harrogate
Style: Scottish Breakfast – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 8th, 2011
Although I don't typically drink my tea with milk or sweetener, Scottish Breakfast Teas are blended with this in mind so I tried mine both plain and with the milk and sweetener. When drinking plain, the tea is so robust, dark and malty that the flavors were completely overpowering, but with a touch of milk and agave th...

The dry leaf has an intense fragrance that is more food-like than tea-like, and suggests a savory dish, but also suggests sweetness.
Upon brewing this tea, however, it is less savory than the aroma suggests: mild, sweet, mellow. Surprisingly dark color, a brownish amber, but very clear. Slightly vegetal. Subdued,...
Ding Gu Da Fang Organic from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Green Tea – Region: China83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 8th, 2011
Dry leaf has an interesting aroma, almost like overripe fruit.
Brewed cup is a deep, dark color for a green tea, and has a savory quality and a full body. Very full-flavored, but milder aroma, which is somewhat neutral, with a weak fruity and floral quality.
Almost minty finish. I also detect tones of ginger. ...
