Kaimosi Estate GFBOP1 from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Black Tea – Region: Kenya70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
May. 23rd, 2011
Dry leaf has a sweet, pleasing aroma.
Brewing as instructed, this tea is very mild, with a smooth flavor and a clear quality. There are mild, dried fruit tones, a bit like a Keemun, but this tea is less earthy than Keemun. Some of the light, rice-like qualities common in some Ceylon teas. Aftertaste is clean. Fl...
China Classic Oolong from Foojoy
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Fujian, China70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
May. 21st, 2011
The Chinese name printed on the packaging for China Classic Oolong sheds some light on this tea. It reads as Fuzi Zhongguo Minnan Wulong Cha, or "Foojoy Chinese Minnan Wulong Tea." Here, Minnan refers to the southern region of Fujian province. Therefore, a more accurate English name for this tea, following the Chinese,...

Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: China67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
May. 21st, 2011
For my first cup of this tea, I used water that had just finished coming to a boil, and then I accidentally forgot about the cup for at least five minutes. It turned out very nicely, though. The tea brews to a deep golden color, and is very fragrant. The aroma is essentially similar to other jasmine teas I have had. Th...

Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: China57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
May. 21st, 2011
Ten Ren's Longjing brews to a golden-green color, and has a strong smoky vegetal aroma. This tea has a crisp finish and some real bite, different from a typical Longjing. Actually, this aspect of it is more similar to the bite and "rawness" of a Chinese red tea.
The flavor of this tea is a bit vegetal similar to its...
Green Tea with Jasmine Tea Bags from Harrisons and Crosfield
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: Blend30 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 1/5
May. 21st, 2011
This was a very subtle jasmine. Hard to oversteep. Plusses and minuses for those who like their jasmine a bit stronger!
Lungching Green Tea from Foojoy
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: China80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
May. 21st, 2011
When seeing the price and packaging of these Foojoy teas, my initial impression was that they must be low quality at such a price point. Like my experience with Tenren, this initial impression has turned out to be wrong.
This Longjing is a fine representative of the style in a teabag. The tea brews to a golden color...
Burnside Estate Special OP from Chado Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: Nilgiri, India100 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5

Very smooth and subtle. Excellent flavor. If you enjoy a "delicate" cup of tea, you will love this.

Found this green tea to be unfortunately bitter... definitely have to be careful with how long you leave the teabag in. That said it has a lovely aroma, and a strong flavor. Overall pleasant.

Dopey name aside, this tea sounded fantastic and I couldn't resist ordering it. It smells fantastic, the almond and vanilla are really strong and wonderful. But unfortunately I found it to be a bit weak taste-wise, as with most artificially flavored white teas... perhaps best served with milk and sugar to bring it out....

Organic African Nectar from Mighty Leaf Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 19th, 2011
This is a nicely mellow tea. I like it as an unwinding tea. It is very smooth with absolutely no tartness or bitterness to it. A great red tea for me, and I'd recommend it to others wanting to experience red tea.

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
May. 17th, 2011
An average strength black tea, this did not scream "breakfast" to me. More sour than bitter. Nondescript aroma. Not bad, but not great either.
This did not stand out to me relative to any of the mainstream black teas on the market, yet it is significantly pricier.
Zen Filterbags from Tazo Tea
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: ?????47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
May. 16th, 2011
Aroma comes from added flavors, not from the tea leaves, really. The flavor is basically spearmint and lemongrass, with little green tea flavor to be found. This is kind of a novelty tea, but nice on rare occasions. This tea could have broad appeal, but precisely because there is very little actual tea flavor.
The T...
Chinese Oolong from Bigelow Tea
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: China43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
May. 16th, 2011
The aroma of this tea is sweet, full, and strong. The tea brews to a dark amber brown, and is quite opaque for this type of tea. The tea itself is quite full-bodied and warming, which is a nice quality. The initial taste of the tea is full and rich, but halfway through a sip, the flavor becomes flat, boring, and lifele...

The following review is of China Green Tips in a normal tea bag, as opposed to the whole-leaf satchet version.
True to its name, the aroma and the flavor of China Green Tips are indeed similar to the vegetal and fresh qualities of a Zhejiang green tea made from small and vibrant leaves. Apart from its basic characte...
Ti Kuan Yin from Ten Ren Tea
Style: Tie Guan Yin – Region: Taiwan / Formosa73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
May. 16th, 2011
First impression of this tea is that the aroma is pleasantly full and rich, very nice for a dark wulong. The liquid is dark golden brown, but it is not thick, opaque, or hazy, as some wulong teas from a tea bag can be. The taste of this tea is characteristic of a dark Tieguanyin, with a bit of a bitter aftertaste which...

This was an interesting change of pace, and one of the most unusual black teas I've tried to date. But unlike some unusual teas, this tea was not just different, it was different in a way that I especially enjoyed.
There is some wintergreen in the aroma. It reminds me of a Ceylon tea from the Uva region of Sri Lan...
Chai White Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????70 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
May. 15th, 2011
I steeped this tea for 6 minutes to make it strong enough. When I first tasted it, I thought it was a little too tangy for my taste, and that the combination of chai spices with white tea was a little weird. I can't taste the spices much, though, for a chai tea. I added cream and sugar. After I had been drinking it for...

A very strong Assam, stronger than Upton's description makes it sound. Very full flavor: fairly bitter, slightly sour, very savory, and even slightly salty. Aroma is spicy, suggesting allspice and black pepper. Also a bit smoky, with some fruity tones as well. Peppery finish.
Interesting, but a bit too strong fo...
Organic Gyokuro from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Gyokuro – Region: China77 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
May. 13th, 2011
I was eager to try this one to see what a better Chinese attempt at gyokuro could produce, and I must say, this tea impressed me a fair amount, and was definitely worth trying.
Dry leaf has a pleasing aroma of a typical, good Japanese green tea. Bold green color.
I brewed this with a lower temperature, 160, typi...

I think this tea is a bit too strong. The black tea taste overpowers the ginger/peach.

I'm a fan of Earl Grey tweaks, so I expected to like this mix with Lavender and other herbs, but it is better than were my high expectations.
