Organic Yunnan Select Dao Ming from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Yunnan Red – Region: Yunnan, China77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 8th, 2012
Complex and smooth, a bit on the weaker side though. Dry leaf has a strong aroma, characteristic of Yunnan red teas.
Aroma is complex. Moderately smoky, resembling tobacco smoke and smoky green teas (like gunpowder) more than most smoky black teas, also moderately fruity, almost like a Keemun. Flavor unusually sm...
Organic Oolong Tea from Wei-Chuan
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: ?????70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 6th, 2012
Inside this funny shaped box is 15 full leaf tea bags of Tieguanyin. These can easily be used twice, though, so each package should make a good 30 cups.
The tea itself is fairly mild compared to most wulong tea one finds in tea bags, since the leaves are not all chopped up. The overall taste and effect are simple, b...

Bit hard for me to describe this tea, as I have just recently started my journey through the wonderful world of Pu-Erh teas.
Dry leaves:
losely compressed big leaves, few stalks. Dark green color with lots of brown and even some hints of silver. Refreshing and clean flavor, traces of tobacco fragrance (pleasant e...

Apr. 4th, 2012
The description of Ten Ren's white tea in tea bags is pretty accurate. The taste is mild and a bit earthy, and actually not so different from their wulong teas. The overall effect of the tea is smooth and straightforward, but without many characteristics of Bai Mudan, Shoumei, or other white teas, really. My initial im...

While I believe this tea to be slightly overpriced, I was impressed by how strong the tea was based off of the amount of leaf used. For the amount spent on a small box it's possible to brew a good amount of tea, so you get more for you dollar.

I've never had Dragon Well Tea so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I ended up enjoying it. This tea was more herby or grassy than what I'm used to, but it wasn't overbearing. I thought it was pretty smooth and it didn't leave any strange aftertastes - although it's not my favorite I would drink this tea again!

Arya Estate Ruby Organic (EX-17) from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 28th, 2012
This is without a doubt one of the best teas I've had. It is just an extremely satisfying tea. I have finally noticed that when I really like a Darjeeling, no matter what flush it is, it comes from Arya Estate. It has been a while since I had this, as I ran out and am waiting for this year's to come in. Therefore,...

This tea is among the best decaffeinated pure black teas that I've tried, whether loose-leaf or from a tea bag.
Full-bodied, dark, strong but smooth and somewhat mellow. There is a vaguely keemun-like fruitiness.
I find it interesting that Novus also carries a caffeinated version of this tea, it allows me to com...

Dragon Well greens teas are my favorite of the greens. This one is the perfect balance of bright grassy flavor and more mellow earthy tastes. I'm not sure the exact specs on when this particular Dragon Well was picked or what flush it might be but regardless its flavor works for me! :)

This tea is interesting, but I'm not used to pu-erh. It has a vegetal aroma. It tastes really mild, and kind of savory. With the first infusion it left a kind of tingly feeling in my mouth. I added cream and sugar.

This purple tea was quite interesting...it did taste substantially different from most black tea, even though at a glance it just looked like a typical broken-leaf black tea.
Flavor is initially smooth, but it has some bite to it after the initial sip, leaving an almost peppery finish. Unlike the Royal Tajiri Tea w...

This tea has a distinct peachy flavor that I think I've tastes in other Darjeeling teas, and I don't like that flavor in teas. It has a little bitter aftertaste, which I don't like either, and it doesn't have a very strong black tea flavor that I usually like in strong black teas. It has a nice, interesting aroma, thou...

Broken-leaf, fairly dark.
More bite than a typical bai hao oolong; more black-tea like. Fairly strong roast, some woody tones, only a hint of fruitiness. I like this more than most Chinese oolongs in its price range and of a similarly dark roast, but in the end I'd rather pay a little more for whole-leaf oolong.

I initially liked the flavor of this tea, but the longer I sipped it the less I found it appealing. After brewing it for about 3 minutes I found that it had a sweet taste and was light when I began drinking it. As time passed and I continued drinking it, the flavor became more and more bitter and left a heavy taste ...
