Well I dont use te abags a lot, but this Golden Assam seems to me from Halmari TE invoice. The leaves are evenly graded with more of black leaves less of golden tips. The liquor is malty sweet and astringent at the back of the tongue, little bitterness at the tip of the tongue. The full body rich orange color liquor is...

This clonal, classic, superfine, muscatel tea is an outstanding Darjeeling. I steeped the The Tea for 5 minutes in a temperature of 195 degree celsius. The Tea can be drink without milk. This is indeed a darjeeling second flush but its not muscatel all darjeeling second flush are not Muscatel. Only Makaibari has a house patent of Muscatel flavour. Indeed this tea has all characters of a 2nd flush, but not a muscatel.

Goomtee Second Flush Golden Tip- Review The chocolate-plum notes with notes of almond and lemon. It began as salt on the tip of the tongue, then turned to pure honeyed plums and muscatel on the middle and back, with a dry, astringent finish.

Muscatel taste in Tea is only represented by Makaibari Tea Estate, a lot of Tea estates and company have wrong connotation about Muscatel and they claim as their own. Muscatel taste is generated only in Second Flush Darjeeling Tea, all second flush doesnot represent the Muscatel. The word Muscatel in terms of tea is th...

English Teatime from Bigelow Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????40 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5

Aroma is vague, flat, stale, cardboard.
Flavor is thin, even with two teabags; if steeped longer it's bolder, but then it comes along with this firm bitterness that Alex described. Not really pleasant, but a good pick-me-up.
Value: I've never bought this tea, another freebie from the office. I suppose that mea...

The aroma of the dry leaf of this tea really got my attention: rich and strongly aromatic, fruity, deep, but also light and fresh. I received this and the Singbulli first flush as samples from Harney and Sons.
Like the Singbulli, I prefer brewing this tea for 5 minutes, as recommended. However, I also experimented...

I was surprised to find that this decaffeinated black tea is actually a single-region tea, originating in Sumatra, Indonesia.
After drinking a single-estate Darjeeling first flush for breakfast, one that I gave a 100 rating, this tea tastes pretty flavorless, but in the broader picture, it's not bad. An interesting...

After brewing this tea several times, I cautiously dole out yet another perfect score, the second one for a black tea.
Michael Harney sent me this sample after reading a post I wrote on my tea blog about black teas I found interesting, and I can't help but wonder if he hand-picked this one based on my descriptions, ...

This is an all time fave in the UK and has many fans including me. It is quick brewing and very robust, certainly not for the faint hearted, or the chap down the page who gets 5 cups from 1 tea bag. He is clearly not an English tea drinker, who on average likes it hot, strong and sweet with a good dash of milk. Of cou...

Although not my favourite brew, Typhoo has, according to my late mother, been enjoyed in my family since the 1920's. I perhaps first tasted it in the early 1950's as a young boy, and, as far as I remember, it was never usurped by any other tea in that household. It was, according to my mother, one of the few teas that ...

My wife tells me that this tea reminds her of the best of the teas from her father's shop in Canada. An elegant yet rich afternoon tea; my choice when friends drop in or after dinner. Splash of milk is all this beauty needs. Way above an average tea.

This was my go to afternoon tea until I tasted the Yorkshire Gold. Lovely, intriguing aromas and rich body. Great with a splash of milk. N.B.: This tea MUST be kept in an airtight container as it fades away very quickly when left in the box.

UPDATE: Good Assam with fine aroma, full bodied with that slight weakness in mid-palate characteristic of pure Assams, smoky finish. One negative: it seems to have a short shelf life as loose tea. As I write this, it is harvest time in Assam, and this tea (fresh from the vendor) seems to be faded or of lesser quality.

Opaque and dark black tea with a bit of smoothness. It has some unique qualities and is not the typical black tea, but it lacks any real complexity or richness. Quite plain, really.

This is a Ceylon whose character is somewhat in between the high-grown, lighter Ceylon black teas and the richer, maltier ones. Strong but smooth, with tones of rice, wintergreen, and malt. Very rich red-brown color.
Although this tea is initially quite smooth, the aftertaste is rather tannic: bitter and astringen...

Lately I've been on a roll, sampling a variety of black teas that continue to be completely unlike any I have had before, and I never cease to be amazed at how diverse they can be. This is yet another black tea that was vastly different.

Dry leaf consists of large pieces of broken leaf, mostly light brown, with some greenish and silvery.
Strongly reminiscent of a Darjeeling, and with a typical, middle-of-the-road Darjeeling character. Aroma is bright, fruity, and light, with a lot of the muscatel grape quality. There's also a hint of spruce needle...

This tea surprised me. I didn't think I'd like it much based on the smell of the dry leaf, but I like it a lot. It has a nice smooth, sweet flavor. I added cream and sugar.
