Hu Hong Mao Feng from TeaSource
Style: Black Tea – Region: Hunan, China90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jun. 17th, 2019
I ordered this exquisite tea from TeaSource with my first order, and it was both interesting and impressive.
The dry leaf is beautiful, curly and somewhat wiry. It is intensely aromatic and the aroma is beautiful: strongly malty, more like rye than other grains, with a nutty quality a little like peanut butter, but ...
Royal Lapsang Souchong Organic from Bird Pick
Style: Lapsang Souchong – Region: Fujian, China85 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5

Found this in a Chinese market at the mall in Arcadia, CA. They had a huge selection of teas. I picked up a couple of ounces of this. It was priced at $30 per pound.
It is a very dark tea, black actually, and it has a heavy, smoky smell. However, after brewing the flavor is not as intense as you would expect. The br...

This is an excellent breakfast tea. I find a bit of sugar and milk really brings out the mellowness.

The aroma of this tea is clean and straightforward, with a slight pungency that perks you up. The taste is simple, mellow, and lightly sweet. It's a great tea to drink slowly, savoring the richness with every sip. The liquor is fairly dark but that doesn't really detract from the taste.
Although at the lowest end of...
Panyang Congou Select from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Panyang Congou – Region: Fujian, China75 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I had one called China Panyang Congou from Upton, which is also currently unavailable. I'm guessing this is the same thing. It is very enjoyable and tastes different from most of the teas I can think of. There is a pronounced barley/pumpernickel flavor. I've been brewing beer lately and this reminded me of the taste...

A bit earthy for my taste. I prefer a lighter breakfast tea, but this is still well worth the brew, especially with milk and sugar.

An excellent tea, with good balance between the flavors and aromas. A bit on the pricey side.

This is a pretty mellow but still flavorful Chinese black tea. A little nutty and smoky, and offered at a good price. It has more than a little pipe tobacco flavor to it also. As Alex points out, the aroma is interesting and has some earthy, barnyard notes. I am not always in the mood for a keemun, but this is a goo...

Didnt like this at first but it has grown on me. It is best warm-hot not piping hot - that allows the full nuanced flavor to come out. Earthy with a little citrus.

I found this box of tea at a natural health store on my lunch hour. Most places that carry Prince of Peace tea don't carry black tea, so I grabbed them. The 100 tea bags are individually wrapped in paper, so I transferred them to an airtight container after removing the plastic seal from the box.
The unbleached pape...

This is a perfectly good Lapsang Souchong. Smoky and lightly bitter, but not harsh. Slightly aromatic finish.

I'm no big fan of this tea. This tea is not for me..... Anywho! I don't know what I was expecting. The taste of a prince, the taste of a wale... It did not taste like either. Trust me, I know.

This tea was more pleasant than interesting. I liked it a lot, but found it hard to write as much about it. I also thought it was slightly overpriced.
Dry leaf is very pretty (like many of Murchie's teas, their photo doesn't do it justice, so I took one of my own), with bright golden-orange tips against a dark backg...

The aroma has a mild earthiness. The liquor is a light amber color. Mild taste that would be overwhelmed by milk or sugar.

For an English breakfast tea I think this one is pretty good! I’m picky about black teas in general because I don’t like when they are too astringent or bitter. This tea isn’t too astringent at all though! However it was a little bitter, but overall it tasted pretty decent. The aroma is good and mild and smells l...

This was a smooth, naturally sweet tea (even with no sweetener added) that had a pleasing and somewhat complex aroma.
We ordered four teas (two true teas and two Rooibos) at Socra Tea during our recent visit to Detroit, and this was the tea that jumped out and left the biggest impression on me.
Very smooth flavor...

This is one of those really dangerous teas...very caffeinated but incredibly mild and smooth tasting, so it is very easy to brew it too strongly and get uncomfortably wired.
Dry leaf has a potent and very pleasing aroma: strongly malty with cocoa notes, and a faint hint of smoke and vegetal notes. Contrasting with t...

Wow! Exceptional!!!
I've tried a lot of teas from Yunnan Sourcing over the years but have never ordered nor have I reviewed any of them; they were always just served to me by others, often aged Pu-erhs. I finally ordered some of my own and I am super impressed with every one. This is my favorite one of the batch.

Finally, a good Keemun! The dry tea has an aroma of aged wood, with a smoky scent that's more like the smokiness of a smoked cheese than the harsh smokiness of lower quality Keemun. I brewed it in a French press with water that hadn't reached boiling yet. The brewed tea has a similar aroma to the dry leaves, but this a...

This is a very enjoyable tea. The twisted, tippy leaves have an aroma of raisins, wood, cocoa, and malt. When I added water I was initially disappointed to see that the leaves were broken, as I've paid less for full leaf Yunnan. Fortunately, the taste doesn't seem to suffer from this fact, with no bitterness and only a...

This is a weird tea. The dry leaves smell like chocolate and flowers, but as soon as water is added it smells like baked potatoes. It takes a while to brew: I usually end up brewing it for 6-7 minutes the first time and even longer for the next two infusions for a total of three cups.
The flavor is somewhat unusual...

It took me a few tries to get something I liked out of this tea, but I'm really enjoying it now. It seems to turn out best steeped for around 3 minutes with water just below boiling. The aroma is mostly floral and malty, with some dried fruit and a slight scent of potatoes in the background. The flavor is slightly malt...

I am a bit of a connoisseur of Lapsang Souchong. I have tried them from many different brands, and I think that the H&S offering of it is by far the best. The smokiness of it is beyond fantastic and I think that it's just amazing.

Like the tin says, it's definitely entirely comprised of nothing but Keemun, with the vegetal, almost barnyard-esque notes of the tea shining through. Probably why it's normally mixed in a typical English Breakfast. It does, however, smell delicious - like any good black tea, it's got that heady aroma of caffeine yet t...
