Earl Grey Tea from Frontier

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 17th, 2013

An Earl Grey with a classic flavor profile, but on the weak side. I see on Frontier's new website that this tea uses the Irish Breakfast Tea as a base, probably a good choice because a strong base tea is needed to hold its own against the bergamot flavoring.

Dry leaf is finely broken, and has a classic Earl Grey fl...

Earl Grey from Dilmah

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 9th, 2013

To be honest, I'm not a huge Earl Grey drinker, but rather enjoy the odd cup during the hotter months. Dilmah's take on this famous tea is very good. The black Ceylon base is perfect, using its characteristic refreshing notes to mingle with the citrus, bergamot flavouring. Lovely aroma and a nice, clean refreshing tast...

Mar. 8th, 2013

I like this tea. It has a good amount of flavor and it blends well with the tea. The aroma is really nice. It tastes a little bit weak, though. I had to steep it for 6 1/2 minutes to get it strong enough. I added cream and sugar.

Organic Earl Grey from Wegmans

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 8th, 2013

This Earl Grey has a classic British character.

The dry leaf is very aromatic, with a strong, fresh smell.

Upon brewing, steeping for 6 minutes, this produces a rich cup with moderate strength of flavor and a moderate body. The Bergamot is bold but not overpowering, and the base tea has somewhat of a warming qua...

Vanilla Bean Black Tea from Arbor Teas

Style: Vanilla Black Tea – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 26th, 2013

I can see how some people would like this tea if they are into vanilla. It had a strong vanilla aroma that smelled a little too sweet for me, reminiscent of the vanilla extract I use when baking. With the smell being so strong, surprisingly, it had barely a hint of vanilla in its flavor. I only tasted vanilla toward...

Cinnamon Black Tea from Arbor Teas

Feb. 23rd, 2013

Cinnamon. Does anything smell so good as a freshly made cinnamon roll? No, of course not. Surely the combination of cinnamon with black tea would go equally well, right? Alas, the aroma of the dry leaves smells like, well, a stick of cinnamon. The leaves look fairly generic too -- a typical black tea blend. The a...

I like the aroma of this tea, but it reminds me a little bit of those buttered-popcorn-flavored jelly beans. I can't brew it strong enough. I kind of like the flavor, but it also seems kind of bland. I added cream and sugar.

Vanilla Bean Black Tea from Arbor Teas

Feb. 17th, 2013

The dry leaves have a distinct aroma similar to vanilla extract, as would be expected but also an underlying chocolate aroma that sneaks in later. The teas leaves are small and have a very dark brown color.

After brewing, I couldn't really detect the vanilla aroma in the leaves. Instead, they gave off an earthy sc...

This tea has a pretty strong bergamot aroma, but I like it. I like the flavor a lot. It's strong and it had a good amount of bergamot. It tastes a little watery, though. I added cream and sugar.

As usual, I am impressed with how reasonably priced Ahmad Teas can be! This tea was a great buy, with a subtle flavor of cardamom and smooth texture. I didn't find the cardamom taste overpowering at all, although the dried leaf did smell heavily of it!

Earl Grey from Bigelow Tea

Feb. 3rd, 2013

If I have to drink bagged tea, I'll opt for this one. The scent and flavor are not too far off from Twinings' loose Earl Grey, which is my standard supermarket tea. The scent and flavor are strong but not overpowering; it's a little heavy on the bergamot, but that's the way I like it!

Coconut Black Tea from Arbor Teas

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Feb. 2nd, 2013

Dry leaf has an intoxicating rum-like or almost whiskey-like (bourbon) aroma that I find very pleasant. More similar to the Vanilla tea sold by Arbor Teas than to any other Coconut-flavored tea I've encountered before. Lighter overall than that tea, and less cocoa-ey.

Very pleasing to drink. Brews a robust, rich ...

Vanilla Bean Black Tea from Arbor Teas

Style: Vanilla Black Tea – Region: Blend

This tea has a notable aroma and flavor of rum. It tastes weak to me no matter how I brew it, just like most of the teas from this brand that I've tried. It tastes a little too bitter if I brew it for a long time. I usually like vanilla teas but this one is a little weird. It has a slight bitter aftertaste. I added cre...

Wow. I wasn't expecting to like this tea as much as I did. Unlike any vanilla-flavored tea I have ever had.

Dry leaf has an intoxicating aroma, suggestive of high-quality vanilla extract, and rum.

The aroma of the cup is just as potent upon brewing, and is quite rum-like. There are tones of spice that come out...

When I first tried this tea I loved it, but after I've been drinking it for a while, I now think it has a really weak base tea. I still like the flavoring. It has a nice sweet, creamy flavor. I love nut-flavored teas. I think it has a similar appeal to a caramel latte. I added cream and sugar.

A strong Earl Grey. Brewed as instructed, I unfortunately did not have much to experiment with, but the first time was satisfying to me so I'm writing a good review!

Dry leaf is strongly aromatic, and has a unique aroma. Brews a rich, dark color. The base tea has a strong presence, with a rich, warming quality.

Too weak for me. I did steep it longer after reading Alex's review of another Organic India Tulsi Tea and it did seem to help - made it smoother and seemed to lessen the clove/minty aspects of the tea. It is a nice tea but I doubt I will be purchasing again.

Vanilla Almond from Republic of Tea

This is my all time favorite tea. The smell alone is an experience when you open the tin. I am drawn to strong black tea, and this one delivers that underneath the smooth sweetness of vanilla and a charming nutty almond flavor.

Unlike some flavored teas, the vanilla and almond are prominent to the last sip.

Toasted Sesame from Adagio Teas

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Sri Lanka / Ceylon

43 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 2nd, 2012

The aroma of the leaves and the tea itself are very bland, no toasted sesame at all just a vague burnt smell.

Sadly I found this tea disappointing, it tastes like a decent black tea but there is not sesame taste except for a vague burnt taste. I was hoping for a bold sesame taste but did not get that.

Nov. 20th, 2012

Among the best examples of an Earl Grey that I've sampled yet.

This Earl Grey has a bold base tea with its own unique character evident. The base tea tastes like a mixture of Assam and Keemun-style teas: rich, dark, robust, and with a warming quality. It tastes like the base tea would make a strong and high-qualit...

This is a delicious version of Earl Grey. I'm very glad that it's organic since I'm paranoid about those sorts of things. The flavor is mild, but delicious and soothing.
