Earl Grey from Twinings

This is a very ordinary tea. The bergamot tastes old and stale, and has a smoky, stale bouquet.
There are many better choices available.

Beet Cabbage - Savory Tea from Numi Organic Tea

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: ?????

90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

Another very good "savory" tea. The most notable of the flavors listed is the cabbage. Though normally I'm not a big fan of this flavor, here it works very well. No doubt the inclusion of beet is responsible for the pink look of the brew. Overall, the flavors of vegetable and spices are very balanced.

If you're in t...

Looking at the dry tea, I was surprised that the black tea was in the form of little nuggets, rather than rolled leaves like I'm used to. Upon further reading, I think this is probably due to CTC processing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crush,_Tear,_Curl).

The scent of the dry tea is VERY spicy and rich. I think t...

Lemon Lift® Decaffeinated Black Tea from Bigelow Tea

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: ?????

Free in my office circa 2014. This "decaf" black tea with a hefty dose of citric acid (lemon juice?? I think not.) is available and drinkable but I would not go out of my way for it. We also have Bigelow's "Classic" green tea in the office. It's a step above Lipton-kick-your-ass black, but that's about it. No big w...

I haven't tried a lot of decaffeinated black teas, but I'm starting to think I may prefer them. I haven't tried the regular version of this tea yet, but I appreciate that it doesn't have the bitterness I commonly associate with some black teas. It tastes fruity and fresh, and smells wonderful too.

Though it's made o...

Peach Apple Crisp from The Persimmon Tree

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 29th, 2014

The aroma smells pretty varied, there are notes of roses, delicate peaches and apples, a touch of citrus, a bit of woody rooibis, a tiny bit of tart hibiscus, and lastly a sweet malty and caramel finish. It does not really smell like a crisp, but it does smell sweet and fruity, so I enjoy sniffing it.

Tasting the te...

This tea reminds me a bit of Twinings' Russian Caravan: a nice but smoothy black tea, naturally sweet.
Earl Grey has some bergamot and vanilla notes too.

Aroma and flavor are basically of lemon, but is kind of a neutral thing. It's not tart or sour and it never comes bitter; actually, it's kind of sweet. There are some floral notes too.
At least it's a cheap tea, I would say it's of a fair value.

I'm learning that most flavored teas smell great, but don't always have the best flavor. It's not to say that I don't enjoy them, but many taste at least a little artificial.

This is an ok tea, but it's not amazing. I steep it for about 5 minutes and it has a subtle blueberry flavor. I think I need to get over ...

The dry leaves smell just like the carrot cake my mom would make for my birthday when I was a wee little one. The aroma is rich and sweet, blending carrots, spices, and vanilla for an added extra frosting like treat.

The taste is spicy and earthy, like an unsweetened carrot cake. The spices are subtle, no kick in th...

The aroma of this tea smells JUST like peaches, not nasty fake peaches or peach candy, but the real juicy fruit. There is milder note of apricot, and a touch of lemon myrtle

The aroma is spot on, it smells just like an oatmeal raisin cookie! It is sweet, spicy, malty, raisiny (totally a word now), and of course has the grainy quality of oatmeal. The cinnamon is a little stronger than the particular cookies I grew up with, but I have had some that smell as strongly of cinnamon as this tea d...

OK - decent EG, light in terms of flavor and caffeine level. I think Tazo EG is far better.
I usually get a box of 100 or 144 from Costco, so decent value.

This was my first time tasting an Earl Grey tea. I definitely appreciated the bergamot orange balancing out the black tea flavor a bit, though it still wasn't enough for me to outright enjoy this tea. On its own, it was still too tanniny, or something (bitter isn't quite the right word). With food (I had fried eggs) it...

I got this as a free sample at the Philly Coffee and Tea Fest 2013. I actually was excited to try this. Never saw it before, but I really like Numi teas and Beet Cabbage-I mean, who would of thought. Said to let steep for 10 mins-which I did. It had a red color to it, but it wasn't as red as you would think being b...

I just recently tried this tea at a coffee shop/cafe at a local mall. I thought the tea pouch looked rather tiny, so I had my doubts as to the strength when I filled my 16 oz. cup full of hot water. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor after a five minute brew... it tasted wonderful! I would have to say that it...

20, staple free, tea bags are in individually wrapped, foil, easy-tear, bags, that are inside a bag with a red, ribbon closure and an illustration of sliced blood oranges. The packaging was charming, and the idea of trying a blood oranges in black tea exciting.

I received this tea as a gift in a swap. The name of the tea, had me sooo excited and I was so grateful to the sender. The aroma of the tea had me wondering, more of a sweet note, that of artificial sweetness. Once I tasted it, it was good and it had a good buttery flavor but that flavor ended with an artificial but...

I loathe Orange & Spice-type teas. The aversion goes back to Celestial Seasonings that I was forced to drink as a child. So, when a local restaurant, gave me a bag of this when I had asked for Jasmine (He said they had "Orange Jasmine" - and Mighty Leaf does make an Orange Jasmine but this is not it.), I drank it - aga...

The aroma is sweet and spicy, notes of marshmallow, cinnamon, toffee, and malt with a strong note of allspice. Smells a bit like spiced rum. The brewed tea still smells like spiced rum with less marshmallow sweetness. The liquid is much sweeter with strong spicy notes.

The taste sweet and malty with a velvety mouthf...

Jan. 2nd, 2014

Thanks to E. Alex Gerster for this sample. It was not my cup of tea but was interesting to try!

This tea smells lemony, but not intensely so. The lemon is a bit artificial smelling, more suggestive of lemon lifesavers or other lemon candy than natural lemon-scented herbs or actual lemon fruit. There is a hint of ...

A mild Earl Grey that was sweet in flavor, perfumey in aroma, but overly astringent.

Tea bag smells more lemony / citrusy than most Earl grey, with a hint of spice.

Brews up a surprisingly aromatic cup for a tea bag, with a perfumey smell that suggests sweetness. Rich and full-bodied, somewhat astringent, but no...
