Almond Sunset from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????

I absolutely loved this herbal tea. The aroma combined light and sweet marzipan-like tones with more robust earthy and nutty qualities. The cup was naturally sweet and very smooth. The ingredients were balanced just how I like; I can't suggest anything I would change about this blend.

I was very disappointed when...

Mandarin Orange Spice Herb Tea from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend

47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 27th, 2009

This tea is on the margins of Celestial Seasoning teas that I enjoy...it has too much cinnamon for my taste; I think the clove blends much better with the orange than the cinnamon does. It's also a tad too sour for my tastes...although again it's just a bit out of my comfort zone. This is one of those teas that I wil...

Sleepytime Herbal Tea from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend

57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 27th, 2009

This is one of my favorite Celestial Seasonings teas; the spearmint and chamomile go so well together, and dominate the aroma, although the other ingredients have a presence too. I find this tea to be among the most soothing of the commercial teas that are marketed as "bedtime" herbal blends.

Nowadays though, I str...

Tension Tamer from Celestial Seasonings

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????

73 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 27th, 2009

I drink this tea a lot when I get sick because it makes me feel better. The flavor is a bit of an acquired taste but I have grown quite fond of it. The ginseng is dominant in the aroma and imparts a bitterness and an earthy quality which blends well with the ginger. The peppermint and lemon lightens this one somewha...

Chamomile Medley from Rishi Tea

Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend

83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 23rd, 2009

This blend is predominately chamomile with only a hint of other herbs, and it is absolutely exquisite!

The aroma is mostly of light, fruity chamomile. A hint of mint comes out in the aftertaste; the muted bitter aftertaste that characterizes some chamomile teas is completely absent...in its place is a honey-like sw...

Sweet Dreams Herbal Tea from Bigelow Tea

Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: ?????

80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 19th, 2009

This has always been my favorite of Bigelow's herbal teas. I don't find it particularly sleep-inducing; it's soothing but has some bite to it and tends to make me feel perky even though it doesn't contain caffeine.

The aroma is surprisingly nuanced; the peppermint and chamomile are the dominant tones, but the other...

South African Rooibos (Red Bush) Superior from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Rooibos – Region: South Africa

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 13th, 2009

I find it hard to describe the aroma of Roobos. This one is typical among Rooibos that I've tried...earthy, woody, a hint of olives and spice in the aroma. The flavor is smooth with some sourness. Rich and pleasant.

I found the brewing instructions to be right-on; you can even steep longer with good results. If ...

Honeybush Green from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Honeybush – Region: South Africa

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 12th, 2009

I find this tea very hard to describe in words.

The aroma of this tea is very similar to that of regular (fermented) honeybush, although perhaps a bit lighter: it is warm and rich, similar to Rooibos but less grassy. The flavor has some crispness but not much bitterness. There's little sourness in the initial flav...
