Persian Pomegranate Herbal Tea from Novus Tea
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: ?????47 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
May. 24th, 2012
I don't like these sour fruit teas, and this one is no exception. I do, however, prefer it slightly to the Wild Encounter Herb Tea (berry flavored) from Novus.
Although rather similar to Wild Encounter, this one is slightly less sour, and more sweet. Surprisingly sweet, naturally, without adding any sugar. Aroma ...
Tulsi (Holy Basil) from Shanti Tea
Style: Tulsi / Holy Basil – Region: India80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
May. 10th, 2012
This is the green leaf, or Rama Tulsi. I prefer the red-leaf, or Krishna tulsi, but this is actually my favorite example of the green-leafed variety that I've tried.
I find green tulsi can sometimes have a metallic quality, and this quality is thankfully greatly diminished in this sample. This tulsi is smoother an...
Ginger Lemon Mint from Divinitea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Mar. 23rd, 2012
Not what I expected; this herbal tea has a fair amount of hibiscus, giving it a deep purple color and tangy flavor. There is little lemon evident in the aroma.
I'm not a fan; it was too sour for me. I might have liked this one better had I been expecting the hibiscus...I sometimes rather like blends containing hib...
Classic Mint (Egyptian Mint Herb Tea) from Novus Tea
Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: Egypt50 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Mar. 2nd, 2012
Very fresh, crisp peppermint aroma. Clean but without being flat. Little of the complex herbaceous aroma that I like though, in peppermint. Strong but without being candy-like.
I tried this mainly to try it, peppermint grows out of control in this climate and I'm never short of it...so I wouldn't buy this (or any...
Nutty Almond Cream from Tiesta Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 2nd, 2012
Completely unlike any other herbal tea I've tried. Not my type of blend, but very high-quality for what it is, and I can imagine others might love it.
Brews a bright red, semi-opaque cup with oil droplets on top. Aroma suggestive of a jam-filled pastry: nutty, bready, suggestive of sweetness and cooked apples. Fl...
Rooibos (Formerly Red Mellow Bush) from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Rooibos – Region: South Africa67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 29th, 2012
This rooibos had an unusual complexity for a tea bag. However, it also had considerable astringency.. Aroma slightly fruity, earthy, and with straw-like tones.
Rich. Not the smoothest rooibos though. I'd take this over most brands of rooibos sold in tea bags, although at home I prefer loose-leaf rooibos.
Mountain Herbs from Ronnefeldt
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: ?????60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 16th, 2012
A pleasing, rather neutral, caffeine-free herbal tea.
Brews a light orange infusion. Above average among the totality of herbal blends and teas that I've sampled from Ronnefeldt, but I did not like it as much as their straight black teas.
Complex and balanced. Aroma grassy, minty; the minty tones are almost bet...
Rooibos Tea from Equo
Style: Rooibos – Region: South Africa53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 23rd, 2011
A run-of-the-mill teabag rooibos. This is perhaps slightly above-average quality for a tea bag. Flavor is somewhat flat, aroma is not terribly complex. In my opinion, if you want superior-quality rooibos in a tea bag that is also fair-trade certified, go with Equal Exchange's pyramid bags.
I was disappointed that...
Chamomile (Babogag) from Wissotzky
Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: ?????80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 19th, 2011
This simple looking teabag really surprised me, producing the cleanest, freshest chamomile tea I have tried yet, better than many loose-leaf offerings.
Aroma is typical of chamomile, fruity, with some tones of straw or hay, but this has a fresh quality, almost reminiscent of celery or parsley, and a cleaner flavor. ...
Strawberry Pomegranate Red Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend27 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Dec. 19th, 2011
Sinusoidal said that this tea is similar to Tazo Passion; I agree!
Like Tazo Passion, this blend has added citric acid, something I strongly dislike because it makes the tea too sour for me after brewing it regularly. You can run it under cold water for about 15 seconds to remove most of this, but this also removes...
Strictly Strawberry from SerendipiTea
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 1st, 2011
Intensely fruity, very strong strawberry aroma. Tangy but not overwhelmingly so. This blend does contain hibiscus, presumably to make it sour and impart a red color, and I find some of these fruit blends overdo it on the hibiscus, but the amount in this one is good.
This is not my favorite style of herbal tea, but...
Ginger Peach Red Tea from Republic of Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Nov. 28th, 2011
I like this tea substantially better than the black tea versions of it, especially the decaf one. The aroma is very similar to the decaf ginger peach, but I think more pleasing and more complex, owing to the replacement with the rather aroma-less decaffeinated black tea with the natural rooibos.
It's not the best q...
Safe Sex from Henri Bendel
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend89 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 30th, 2011
I've been served this blend several times now at a friend's house, and I am solidly impressed. This is probably my favorite flavored rooibos or rooibos blend yet. Quite strikingly, the aroma is very natural...there's a complete absence of anything remotely artificial.
The aroma is very pleasing...slightly chocolat...
Blueberry Bliss Rooibos Tea from Teavana
Style: Fruit Rooibos – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Oct. 27th, 2011
I normally am not a fan of blueberry in herbal teas, but I tend to like Teavana's fruity blends so I gave this one a try. I was impressed.
Aroma is pleasing and fully natural: there's not a hint of anything remotely artificial, which I greatly appreciate. I definitely like green rooibos more than red, and the gree...
Camomile from Ronnefeldt
Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: ?????57 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Oct. 24th, 2011
This chamomile was actually a little bit unusual or atypical. It was full-bodied and rich, but a little bland, and had an unusually smooth flavor. There was less fruitiness, less of the hay or straw-like aroma, less of the lacy floral quality, and less of the muted bitter aftertaste that characterizes chamomile tea i...

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Europe43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 14th, 2011
Not too sour. Mildly sour, also mildly sweet. Subtle, balanced. Fairly strong fruitiness but not as artificial-tasting as some of these blends. Aroma of hibiscus, apple, and berries.
I'm not crazy about these types of blends. This may have been above average for this style of herbal tea, and I did drink it and ...
Organic Chamomile Herbal Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: ?????53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Sep. 25th, 2011
Aroma mostly of straw or hay, with some fruity / apple-like qualities. Full-bodied without being too heavy.
Overall though, slightly flat aroma.
I wasn't terrible impressed. But as is usually the case, the differences between this and other chamomiles I've sampled have been rather slight.
Tulsi - Indian Holy Basil from Maya Tea
Style: Tulsi / Holy Basil – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 22nd, 2011
This was recognizable as tulsi, but quite different from other sources of tulsi that I have sampled. Very interesting to sample!
It had much less clove in the aroma, but was still quite spicy, and was also very lemoney. The lemon in the aroma was what made this one stand out.
Flavor is relatively smooth...a lit...
Red Berries from Ronnefeldt
Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend37 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 21st, 2011
My overall impression of this tea was that it was relatively unobtrusive, almost bordering on bland. It was slightly too sour for my tastes, but I find berry-flavored herbal teas usually are way too sour, so relative to other similar offerings on the market, this wasn't too bad.
There's a slight hint of an artifici...
Wild Encounter Herb Tea from Novus Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend43 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Sep. 20th, 2011
I am not a huge fan of these sour, fruity herbal blends with a hibiscus base. This one is good for what it is, but it's still too sour for my taste.
The cup brews a pinkish red hue, lighter than a straight hibiscus infusion. The flavor is sour but not overwhelmingly so (much less than, say, Tazo passion, or straig...
Chamomile from Adagio Teas
Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: Egypt77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 15th, 2011
This is a classic chamomile, moderately fruity, but not the fruitiest I've tried. I steeped it for a very long time, but it did not become unpleasantly bitter, which is good. The differences between different batches of chamomile I've had are subtle, but I think this is among the better ones.
Sweeter and smoother ...
African Autumn (Loose) from Harney and Sons
Style: Fruit Rooibos – Region: Blend57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Aug. 21st, 2011
The fruit flavoring in this blend really dominates; aroma is mostly of orange. I can't quite discern the cranberry as much...I don't know if there's any spice but there's certainly a suggestion of spice in the aroma. Aroma is not quite as complex as I'd like.
Flavor is slightly sour, more sour than straight rooibo...
Lemon Verbena from ANC Educational Farm
Style: Lemon Verbena – Region: Pennsylvania, United States100 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Aug. 11th, 2011
Wow. And I thought I'd tried lemon verbena before. This is the first herbal tea that I've given a perfect rating, and only my second perfect rating.
This whole-leaf lemon verbena from the ANC Farm is better than anything I've tried fresh or dried. This is to lemon verbena what a high grade Jade Oolong or Tie Guan...
ML Verbena Mint Organic from Mighty Leaf Tea
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Aug. 10th, 2011
This was a surprisingly good herbal blend. I tend to prefer blends of spearmint and lemon verbena, and I was a little worried because this one uses peppermint: peppermint can easily overpower other aromas. Fortunately, this one is balanced just right and the mint does not overpower the verbena at all.
Pleasingly l...
Vanilla Rooibos Parfait Full Leaf from Tazo Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend15 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Aug. 3rd, 2011
Ugh. This one was sweetened, and I didn't expect it. Annoyingly, I can't find any info online about it being sweetened or what it is sweetened with. To me, this tastes extremely sweet, but I'm used to only drinking unsweetened tea. And from reading the commercial description, there's no way to know that it's sweete...
