Normally I would not seek a tea like this out; I tried this tea in the cafe at a Barnes and Noble, whose selection only included Harney and Sons' flavored teas, and I thought I'd try something new.

I can't say I liked it a whole lot, but I did find this tea pleasant, and I was impressed with its execution, even thou...

Supreme Breakfast from Harney and Sons

Apr. 20th, 2012

I think it's a great idea that Harney has chosen to create a high-end breakfast blend, combining two high-quality teas that are usually not used in blends.

Although I'm less familiar with Keemun Hao Ya B, only having sampled one example of it, I can see how it would be a natural pairing with Assam as the two teas bo...

70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 1st, 2012

While I believe this tea to be slightly overpriced, I was impressed by how strong the tea was based off of the amount of leaf used. For the amount spent on a small box it's possible to brew a good amount of tea, so you get more for you dollar.

Earl Grey Supreme (Sachet) from Harney and Sons

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 1st, 2012

Served in a restaurant.

An above-average Earl Grey, with a strong, fruity bergamot quality, and a base tea with a rich, malty character.

I think the loose-leaf version of this tea is very reasonably priced, but the boxed, wrapped sachets are pricey. I suppose you pay for the packaging.

This tea has a kind of musky aroma. It tastes interesting, but I don't know how to describe it. It's not too weird. I added cream and sugar.

Mar. 20th, 2012

This tea has a distinct peachy flavor that I think I've tastes in other Darjeeling teas, and I don't like that flavor in teas. It has a little bitter aftertaste, which I don't like either, and it doesn't have a very strong black tea flavor that I usually like in strong black teas. It has a nice, interesting aroma, thou...

Feb. 24th, 2012

The aroma of the dry leaf of this tea really got my attention: rich and strongly aromatic, fruity, deep, but also light and fresh. I received this and the Singbulli first flush as samples from Harney and Sons.

Like the Singbulli, I prefer brewing this tea for 5 minutes, as recommended. However, I also experimented...

After brewing this tea several times, I cautiously dole out yet another perfect score, the second one for a black tea.

Michael Harney sent me this sample after reading a post I wrote on my tea blog about black teas I found interesting, and I can't help but wonder if he hand-picked this one based on my descriptions, ...

This tea is very weak-tasting, but has a dominant mint flavor. It doesn't have much of an aroma. I can barely taste the chocolate flavor, or the tea. I added cream and sugar.

Decent, Christmassy tea with an unusual combination of flavors. The flavor that comes across strongest to me is the vanilla. I also for some reason taste peppermint, which is not listed as one of the ingredients. I don't like this one as much as Harney and Sons' Holiday Tea, but I do enjoy it and it does manage to t...

I tend not to like flavored teas like, this, but given that, I thought this one was not bad. Aroma of citrus and vanilla is strongly suggestive of sweetness, but this tea is not particularly sweet. The base tea is Keemun-like, with deep, fruity tones, but more tannic than I'd expect from a Keemun.

I'm really not s...

Oct. 12th, 2011

This tea has a nice, dark color and a crisp, smoky aroma. The flavor is not bitter, not too dry and not very smoky at all, as I thought it would be from the aroma and my experience with other Keemun teas. It is even less smoky than its nearly as delicious sibling, Hao Ya “B”. It has a very clean, crisp, fresh tast...

Hot Cinnamon Spice from Harney and Sons

I don't like this tea. It just tastes like cinnamon, and it especially has an overwhelming cinnamon aroma that makes me not want to drink it. But the flavor isn't quite as terrible. It tastes kind of like those red hot candies, which I hate, but if you like them, then you might like this tea. I added cream and sugar.

This tea was interesting to me as it is pure Keemun, and not a blend of different teas, or predominately Ceylon possibly with some Assam, the way a lot of English breakfast blends nowadays are. I don't know much about the history of tea so I can't say much about the authenticity of this tea.

I will say, compared to...

I really prefer blends of green tea with spearmint to those containing peppermint, but given that this is a peppermint blend, I think it is quite outstanding.

The peppermint has a candy-like quality, clean, clear, and suggesting sweetness. The base tea is smooth, slightly sweet, and believe it or not, blends seamle...

The fruit flavoring in this blend really dominates; aroma is mostly of orange. I can't quite discern the cranberry as much...I don't know if there's any spice but there's certainly a suggestion of spice in the aroma. Aroma is not quite as complex as I'd like.

Flavor is slightly sour, more sour than straight rooibo...

Here's the thing: I don’t really like my green tea flavored…I like it straight, strong, earthy, and in its natural unflavored form. The exception for me has always been Tazo’s Zen tea, which has a hint of spearmint and tastes almost as good as plain ol’ green tea. For the most part though, adding flavor to gree...

Found this green tea to be unfortunately bitter... definitely have to be careful with how long you leave the teabag in. That said it has a lovely aroma, and a strong flavor. Overall pleasant.

Dopey name aside, this tea sounded fantastic and I couldn't resist ordering it. It smells fantastic, the almond and vanilla are really strong and wonderful. But unfortunately I found it to be a bit weak taste-wise, as with most artificially flavored white teas... perhaps best served with milk and sugar to bring it out....

I was pleasantly surprised by this Jasmine. Typically I find that Jasmine teas smell fantastic but brew super bitter and tasteless. Dragon Pearl Jasmine, on the other hand, was both aromatic and flavorful without being overpowering. A solid choice for Jasmine.

I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about this one. It definitely has that "Christmas" vibe to it, and was less like a typical spiced tea. Aroma of cinnamon, clove, and with a suggestion of vanilla (although that is not in the ingredients). The nuances of the base tea don't really come through, but there is definitel...
