About Zhoushan Island, Zhejiang, China

Zhoushan Island (舟山岛) is the largest island in the Zhejiang province of China. The name "zhoushan" means "boat mountain", referring to the boat-like shape of the island and its significant rise in elevation to its highest point (over 1650 ft / 500m). It is located directly off the east coast and is roughly 200 sq. mi. (500 sq. km.) in area.

Zhoushan Island produces tea, particularly green tea. The elevation and breeze coming off the ocean impart unique qualities to the tea grown here, compared to tea produced nearby on the mainland.
