Aroma is rice-like, and very slightly malty, with a slight hint of smokiness, and somewhat fruity. Most of these qualities are very subtle. It's hard to say whether the aroma is balanced or muddled...it somehow straddles these two possibilities. I am not crazy about how the different aspects of the aroma blend together.
Overall, too weak and mellow for an English Breakfast; I wouldn't say this is true to the style. I also found this tea disappointing after Hampstead's Darjeeling, which I was thoroughly impressed by. That tea is delicate for a black tea and very complex--this tea is slightly less complex, but it doesn't have any more of a kick to it.
