Organic Green Tea from Trader Joe's
Style: Green Tea – Region: Nilgiri, India30 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 1/5
May. 20th, 2014
I thought this was pretty terrible. Steeped for 3 minutes with 180F degree water.
Cup is almost aroma-less...reminds me a little bit of Bigelow's Green Tea, but I thought less enjoyable. Tastes a lot like some decaf tea...flat. There's some herbaceous quality in the aroma, like celery, a faint honey-like finish, ...
Just Awesome Assam from Just.Organic.Tea
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
May. 17th, 2014
The aroma of the tea is malty and bright with a bit of a roasted peanut finish. It is a fairly mild Assam, but it is a nice aroma, even if I wish it was a bit stronger.
My cup of tea is brisk, malty, and nicely bright. Just the perfect pick-me-up for people, like me, who really need a boost in the morning. The more...
Organic Darjeeling from Equal Exchange
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India100 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5

I purchased this tea at amazon.com.I am a novice when it comes to teas and I don't like tea. However, this tea is delicious.I read that black tea lowers cortisol levels, and that darjeeling is the best tea.when I I drink it, within a short amount of time I am incredibly relaxed.I have high cortisol levels and am constantl...

May. 8th, 2014
The last of four rather old samples that were given to me as a gift by a friend. This one seemed to have lost a bit more of its aroma than the others did.
The dry leaf is beautiful, although slightly more broken than the others (the picture shows this quite accurately) and with a slightly lower portion of golden ti...

Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India80 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
May. 7th, 2014
The third of the four rather old Assam samples that I'm reviewing, thanks to one of my friends who gave them to me as she doesn't like Assam.
The dry leaf of this sample is beautiful (the picture Upton provided doesn't do it justice), mostly made of curled golden tips, with little darker leaf. Surprisingly aromatic...
Marangi Estate FTGFOP1 (Formerly TA49) from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Assam – Region: Golaghat, Assam, India70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 5th, 2014
Another of the old samples my friend Naomi gave to me. The dry leaf of this sample, mostly dark with a few orangish tips, had little aroma left, which made me wonder if it was more stale.
Upon brewing though, a stronger aroma came out. Brews up a bold, dark cup, with just the right amount of tannins to make it edg...
Duflating Estate FTGFOP1 Cl/Spl. from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Assam – Region: Jorhat, Assam, India73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
May. 4th, 2014
One of my friends had a rather old set of Assam samplers from Upton that she had received as a gift, and she recently passed them off to me as she's less a fan of Assam. As Assam tends to keep longer than a lot of teas, I gave it a try, and I was pleasantly surprised. All four teas seem to have kept quite well. This...

My first tea made gongfu style! This is milder than I expected and I was pleasantly surprised.
I steeped for 30 seconds to start. The tea was a very pale amber. The flavor was very light, and slightly sweet.
I did another steep of 30 seconds and the tea darkened slightly. I didn't notice much difference in t...
Darjeeling from Twinings
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

Pretty decent malty flavor - light with milk (looks a bit watery) but has taste and aroma.

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Assam, India87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 19th, 2014
Overall a very good chai - way I would like chai (I'm Indian) to be. I find other chai brands to be over powered with cinnamon or chicory. Tazo has a better balance in the chai masala.
In Canada, Tazo is more expensive than US, but still worth it.
Let me know what others think is a better chai brand out there.
Darjeeling from Tazo Tea
Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 15th, 2014
I had the opportunity to sample this at a small cafe that had only two tea bags left in their stock. It obviously was not fresh, as this tea was discontinued quite some time ago, and the copyright on the bag said 2007.
The tea was surprisingly drinkable and still retained quite a lot of flavor and aroma. Flavor wa...
Irish Breakfast from Trader Joe's
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Assam, India67 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 13th, 2014
Trader Joe's Original Irish Breakfast is a smooth and dark tea with a welcoming and appealing aroma. The longer the tea steeps the more bitter it becomes but at the suggested time of 3 to 5 minutes you will find a wonderful cup of tea that pleases. I typically drink this at work, two to three cups each day, as a regul...

The aroma of the tea is quite sweet, blending notes of molasses and baking bread with a slight undertone of roasted peanuts. It is rich and warming, just what one expects from a black tea.
The taste is surprisingly sweet and creamy, it manages to be fairly smooth while also being brisk and a touch astringent. The ta...
Aged Earl Grey™ - Bergamot Black from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Assam, India67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 2nd, 2014
Updated Review: I tried this tea again and, this time, i was able to make it so that it was more enjoyable. As long as i don't let it overbrew and I add milk, this is actually quite a delightful tea--invigorating without being bitter.
The bergamot tastes natural, but I'd like a more robust citrus flavor. Last time I...
Barooti Assam (Broken Leaf with Golden Tips) from Ahmad Tea
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 1st, 2014
My local Indian Market was out of the Ahmad Kalami Assam, so I picked this one up instead. Quite different in flavor and aroma, but still an excellent value.
Brewed at 3 to 4 minutes maximum, and you get a bold, robust flavor and aroma, but with less complexity and maltiness than the Kalami Assam. The color is extr...
Darjeeling Black Tea from Bigelow Tea

This tea is pretty good. It has a musty aroma. Brews quickly, which I like. I added cream and sugar.

Feb. 27th, 2014
My all-time favorite example of Tulsi or holy basil is the purple-leafed variety sold by Upton Tea Imports. Since I had been highly impressed by the the green-leafed (Rama) and Vana varieties from Mountain Rose Herbs, liking each much better than their counterparts from Upton, I was excited to try this one.

Organic Assam Breakfast from Divinitea
Style: Assam – Region: Assam, India70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Feb. 22nd, 2014
This is a bold, rich Assam, malty, strong flavored without being overly harsh. Perhaps slightly less edgy than average for an Assam of this strength, and this could be either an asset or a downside, depending on what you are looking for.
I find this tea is able to be brewed with more leaf than I normally use for an...
Holy Basil, Vana (Tulsi) from Mountain Rose Herbs
Style: Vana Tulsi – Region: India83 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Feb. 19th, 2014
Dry leaf smells complex, like dried ginger and anise, with a hint of straw or hay. Much more complex than the only other example of Vana tulsi that I've tried.
Brews up a very strong, dark cup relative to the amount of leaf used. The brewed cup has a spicy and very complex aroma, and a piquant (sharp but enjoyable...

This tea was decent. I enjoyed its nice cinnamon flavor and smell. It wasn't too strong because I brewed it for a short time. I prefer my spicey teas to be subtle! I assume the longer suggested brew time would yield a stronger tea.

Numi Aged Earl Grey Assam- Now we're talkin' tea! Hands down, this is my all around absolute favorite tea. The moment you open a packet, the powerful, heady aroma of bergamot saturates the senses. It is noticeably fresh, not highly perfumed like most other offerings, for they use real Bergamot, not "natural flavorin...
