Mtn High Chai from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Assam, India93 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 18th, 2010
This is a delightful chai, perfect for waking up too late for breakfast tea, but still too early for afternoon tea. It is not dominated by cinnamon, which is a nice change.
It suggests steeping for 3 minutes, but the longer it steeps the richer the flavor gets (it's been in my cup for the past 30 minutes). I'm si...
Afternoon Blend Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Black Tea – Region: India67 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 16th, 2010
This is a pleasantly malty tea, mild without being too weak and strong without being too astringent. This is one of the few teas that can be served black or with cream and sugar without drastically weakening its flavor. This tea goes well with pastries or a light lunch.

For me, this tea has been an acquired taste. Now, however, it is a favorite. Something about it is very calming - now it is my go-to bedtime tea.
The tea is sweet and spicy, and just the tiniest bit heavy.
Makaibari Estate Darjeeling 1st Flush Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Darjeeling First Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Aug. 16th, 2010
For someone who does not enjoy first flush darjeeling teas, this was very impressive! On the company description it tells about a punchy astringency, but I did not find it in the brew, which is one of the attributes I loved! For a Darjeeling fan, I think it offers something new. For a person just delving into the world...

I tried this in a Peet's in the Philadelphia airport. I let it brew 2 minutes. Peet's said they normally include two teabags but I only used one and saved the other for later--and I'm glad because this tea would have been far too strong.
This is unusually strong for a Darjeeling, but this could just be due to a ge...

Mmm! What wonderful tea. I really enjoyed the complexity of the honey tones, the tobacco notes as well as some forest flavors. A great tea!

This tea is fully decent - I'd say it's better than what most of Twinings puts out. That said, it's not a great tea. The smell is blah. The tea tastes great at the first sip, but then lingers with a bit of cardboard. I think a little bit of lemon or mint would fix that though.

This tea smells simply luscious - it's scent has a mossy, earthy quality, with some fruity hints on top. It tastes lovely iced - it starts out with a deep flavor, and then has a sweet aftertaste that lingers a bit. Even though I used a good amount of tea to brew this, the flavor is still light.

this seems like a well-balanced 2nd flush darjeeling. i imagine that this is basically what an archetypical 2nd flush tea should be. some muskiness, nuttiness, bitterness, and astringency. no single element is really overwhelming.
good tea
Giddapahar Musk (DJ 29) 2009 from Thunderbolt Tea
Style: Darjeeling Second Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

the dry leaves have a chocolaty and nutty aroma.
the musky flavor and aroma does come out when brewed. a somewhat nutty flavor. a fairly well balanced second-flush darjeeling at a pretty good value. i drink this one regularly.

not terribly impressed with this one.

An above average tea, to be sure, but nothing special here. The aroma and flavor are both what you'd expect, just well done.

The aroma is fantastic. It smells like a cool autumn night. However the flavor fails to deliver on the aroma, tasting like not much at all. Overall it's above average, due to the aroma, but there are a lot of other teas that are more worth your time.

Thank you Synth for sending me this one, and Marlena for sending some more. =)
This tea is VERY difficult to brew well, and is affected in major ways by subtle differences in water temperature and steeping time. That said, I've tried brewing this one multiple ways and I've gotten significantly better at brewing it,...

i didn't enjoy this at all... the smell is boring, the "spice flavors" are practically nonexistent... this tea is just plain disappointing. i used one or two tea bags and then let the canister sit in the darkest recesses of the cupboard for ages.

i am just your average tea drinker, not really a connoisseur, just a chick who loves tea. this is the only darjeeling i've ever tried, but i really loved it. i remember the first cup i ever drank, it was quite an experience. i was very impressed. the flavor was so... intricate, somehow.

The dry leaf is by far the fruitiest-smelling Assam that I have yet encountered...but upon brewing it's a little less fruity. This is a very strong tea...when brewed it's maltier than fruity, and has a fairly tannic aftertaste like Teavana describes. Bitter and somewhat astringent...I've had much smoother Assams.

this is alright as earl greys go, but certainly not excellent. the bergamot was not as strong as i like it. smooth.
kind of expensive. there are better earl greys out there... my favorite is zhena's gypsy - uplifting earl grey. earl grey supreme by rishi is also good.

India Breakfast Tulsi Tea from Organic India
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: India70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 29th, 2010
This tea is smooth and balanced and the way it makes you feel is smooth and balanced as well. It's a bit like a masal chai/spiced tea since the tulsi imparts clove and other spicy aromas. The tulsi is strong enough that I can't really say all that much about the quality of the tea, but whatever tea is used blends wel...
