Talk of the Town from Capital Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 9th, 2014
I'm not a huge fan of orange spice teas, but this is my favorite example of one yet.
This was a classic orange spice tea blend, a lot like Market Spice's Cinnamon Orange, or a more refined variant of Bigelow's Constant Comment. If you like either of those teas, I'd recommend this one.
I wish I had had the opport...
O Christmas Tea from Capital Teas
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend47 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 9th, 2014
Tasted a pre-brewed sample at the Philadelphia Coffee and Tea Festival; I have been rather late at posting my review, but I wrote up the review some time ago.
Aroma is intensely of sweet almonds, like marzipan candy, but flavor is sour, and there is considerable astringency.
I tasted the almond most of all, and d...
1896 (Floral Noir) from Art of Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend77 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 5th, 2014
good bold flavor and tasty...perfect strength...has many subtle flavors that I can't pick out but the package says apples, peach and cinnamon with floral finish...all mix together so none stand out

This has a full robust taste. Great in the afternoon.

Style: Fruit (Herbal) Tea – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 2nd, 2014
I braced myself for the "Bracer" and made sure not to steep it too long. About a minute in my cup and I got a nice fruity drink that wasn't too overwhelming for my taste buds. It also had a nice purple color. I probably wouldn't buy it on my own, my tastes go for more vegetable-y teas... but nice all the same.

Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Blend57 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5

A pleasant and drinkable Irish Breakfast, true to the style: very strong. Nothing amazing, but decent quality for a tea bag at the low end of the price range. A sample from the Philadelphia Coffee and Tea Festival.
A very strong tea, and true to the Irish Breakfast style, but I thought it was just a tad harsh. Co...
Passion Fruit (Paradise) from Octavia Tea
Style: Flavored Rooibos – Region: Blend50 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Jan. 2nd, 2014
This is not the sort of blend I enjoy.
I found the loose-leaf of this blend to have a cloying, artificial aroma, but thankfully, this dissipated upon brewing, giving way to a rich, full-bodied, and more subtle experience overall.
The aroma of the brewed cup suggested sourness, but upon drinking I was pleased to f...
Smaug Tea from 52 Teas
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Jan. 1st, 2014
The aroma of this tea is intense, so much so it made me sneeze. Lots of heat and spice with a hint of smoke. The brewed tea brings more vegetal aroma with the spice and the liquid without the leaves is smooth, vegetal and spicy with a hint of smokiness.
The taste is intense, starting off sweetly vegetal with the mi...
Blueberry Kona Pop from Teavana
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 28th, 2013
Another well-executed fruit blend, albeit overpriced, from Teavana.
This one definitely did not smell like rooibos, and I think this is because they use green rooibos rather than red.
The aroma was pretty complex and had a lot going on...flavor is lightly tangy (thankfully not too much hibiscus, just the right a...
Bourbon Vanilla from Kusmi Tea
Style: Vanilla Black Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 27th, 2013
The aroma of this tea is mild with notes of vanilla, oak, and fruit. The steeped leaves lose the aroma of vanilla (it is all in the liquid) with notes of fruit and malt.
The taste is fairly mild and subtly sweet and creamy. Not an outstanding tea but a pleasant dessert or morning sip.
Russian Caravan from Murchie's Tea & Coffee Ltd
Style: Russian Caravan – Region: Blend80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 26th, 2013
This Russian Caravan is a good choice for people who want smokiness without the full intensity of a Lapsang. It's a good winter morning tea. However, its lack of subtlety caused me to tire of it, and I've taken a break from it for about a year. But it's worth coming back to.

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend93 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 26th, 2013
One of my very favorite teas, robust, hearty, with a subtle cardamom flavor that is not overwhelming. I like this tea brewed strong in the morning but occasionally drink it in mid-afternoon as well. It makes a nice gift as well, since many people haven't tried it.
Brahmin (Brahmin's Choice) from Steven Smith Teamaker
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 24th, 2013
Served at the Lancaster County Coffee Roasters stand at the Lancaster Central Market. I had been wanting to try this company's teas for some time, and I am impressed.
I steeped this a little less than the recommended five minutes. Brewed up a clear liquor with a clean, fresh taste. Very bold flavor, but smooth. ...
Devonshire English Breakfast Black Tea from Celestial Seasonings
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend47 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 20th, 2013
I wasn't expecting much...but has some aroma. Tones of malt and wood. Yes, it's not loose tea, and I even think this is pretty far behind most of Celestial Seasonings' herbal blends.
Considerably smoother than Lipton, but still full-bodied. I'd appreciate a little more up-front bite--perhaps a longer steeping wou...
Constant Comment Decaffeinated from Bigelow Tea
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Dec. 19th, 2013
This has been my go-to tea for 40 years. Feel a chill, need a boost, throat a little scratchy ? Constant Comment takes it all away. Love this stuff.

Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Dec. 19th, 2013
The aroma is very sweet and fruity, specifically exotic fruits. The citrus tones make me think of dragonfruit. Once brewed the leaves become malty and the sweetness becomes more of a passion fruit aroma. There is also a hint of peach.
The taste is not as sweet as I was expecting from the aroma and I found it a bit ...
Breakfast Special - Christmas Blend from Timothy's
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend0 / 100 Aroma: 1/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Dec. 18th, 2013
Short summary: ugh, terrible, among the worst teas I've ever sampled. I am giving it the lowest possible rating.
Kelsey gave me this tea to sample, and it was a gift to her. I was unable to find much information online about this brand or company. This bag had text on it suggesting that it was a flavored tea, but...
English Breakfast Decaf from Red Rose Tea
Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 16th, 2013
The tea bag has no smell, contrasting with the tea bag of the caffeinated Red Rose English Breakfast, which has a pleasant malty smell. I steeped for 5 minutes, which is what I prefer for the caffeinated version--even that tea is on the weak side for my tastes.
Upon brewing, the cup doesn't have much of a smell, bu...
Peach Oolong from Infuze
Style: Flavored Oolong – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 16th, 2013
I was curious to try this one; I have been impressed with Infuze's other teas. I tend not to like flavored teas, but I think that oolongs, especially darker ones, often have a natural fruity aroma that blends well with flavorings of stone fruit like peach or apricot.
The dry leaf has an intense peachy aroma, almost...
Sleepytime Peach from Celestial Seasonings

smell of camomile...so not a fan of that, but also seems to have a hint of mint sweetness to it....maybe that's also camomile..., does the job of putting one to sleep though!! x2

This tea brews really quickly. The first time I tried it I brewed it too long - 4-5 minutes. I tried 3 minutes and it turned out well. I like it. It's interesting. Kind of fruity, but not too much. It has a rich, crisp flavor. It's a little more bitter than I would ideally like. I added cream and sugar.

I like Teavana Tea. I just think it tends to be overpriced and I always get someone at the store who tries to sell me something I don't want, even after I tell them that 3 times! When I walk by a store, I can not resist stopping however, and like I said, I do like their tea. I go in and buy this tea, and the salesma...

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend53 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Dec. 11th, 2013
The third and last of my recent batch of free samples from Twinings; thank you again!
The tea bag is more aromatic than most. Brews a rich, strong cup, but the cup is not very aromatic.
Very strong flavor. I think this is stronger even than Twinings' Irish Breakfast, but it is quite different from either of the...
Cocomint Cream from DAVIDsTEA
Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

The aromas are mint, apple, and coconut, all three are very strong and fairly sweet. I do not find they blend well together. When brewed the aromas of those three are still very prominent with a slight hint of citrus.
The taste is odd, it is not bad but certainly not for me, I do not find that mint, coconut, and ap...
