Organic Earl Grey (Loose) from Harney and Sons
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend85 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Dec. 23rd, 2019
This smells and tastes like some halfway point between Bigelow Earl Grey and Twinings Earl Grey. With Bigelow, the bergamot note is strong and pointed and the tea has a more earthy taste. With Twinings, the bergamot note is more gentle and the tea has a more woody taste. With Harney & Sons Earl Grey, the bergamot note ...

This blend has some potential, but is far from my favorite flavored black tea. The first and biggest turnoff was the dry-bag aroma, which reminded me of cheap incense—specifically, the sort employed to smoke-bomb a room fast, in order to mask pot usage. This is the second tea that has given off that cheap-incense v...

Basilur is creative in the packaging and marketing of their teas. This is part of an impressively elaborate gimmick: the second in a multi-volume series of well-decorated "books"—each a metal tin about the size and shape of a small hardback book—containing a plastic bag full of loose tea that gets folded and some...

I think that this is the first time I will have said (or written) this, but I actually prefer the teabag form of this tea. The balance of flavors is off in this. I've tried four different ways of brewing it, changing both the times and the amount of tea, but nothing felt quite right.
Using 2 1/2 tsp for 2 min using...
Earl Grey Tea Bags from Murchie's Tea & Coffee Ltd
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend88 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5

Now this was an unexpected treat! Rarely (if ever) have I had the loose and bagged version of a tea from the same company, at the same time, from the same order. Not only that, they're rather different (how?), but both delicious. I specifically had ordered the EG loose mainly for my wife, and the EG bags came in a v...

This is only the second tea by Bigelow that I've tried (and both, I've tried in the last two days). I've been, overall, impressed by Bigelow. I admit that after being quite disappointed by other American brands, I gravitated towards those from the UK. I assumed that they'd be better able to formulate a good cup of tea,...

Caveat: Constant Comment is one of my very favorite teas, so even a noticeable dropoff from that still garners a favorable rating from me.
The Good: As bagged decaf teas go, this is one of the most tolerable, and dare I say pleasant. Most of the wonderfully clove/orange/cinnamon aroma and flavor of original Const...
Earl Grey from Bigelow Tea

This is tea from a tea bag, so right from the start, we're not dealing with the best quality. But, this sort of tea isn't for having a gourmet experience. If it were, they wouldn't sell it for a few dollars at the local supermarket. It's a daily tea. On that level, it does fine.
The flavor profile is different from ...
Earl Grey Decaffeinated from Twinings
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????40 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 2/5

Twining's US uses a less-health-hazardous method for extracting caffeine from tea. I commend them for that, in principle. In practice, this is a terrible way of extracting caffeine because it takes all of the flavor along with it. There is a better way of doing it that is both less health-hazardous and maintains flavor...

We gleefully had sniffed demo leaves of Murchie's Earl Grey in their Victoria store before, but since had brought home and ordered only the tea bags of the cream version (Earl Grey Cream). My wife is a bigtime EG drinker—probably half her total tea consumption—and wanted some loose-leaf tea as part of our annual f...

Are you a big fan of Candy Cane Lane? If so, you'll probably love this offering too. It's basically the same, but with one major and two minor changes to the ingredients list that don't modify the aroma or flavor much:
1. Caffeinated black tea (no type/origin specified) is subbed for CCL's decaf green,
2. A littl...
Lemon Lift Black Tea from Bigelow Tea

Aug. 8th, 2019
The dry teabag smells like a spiced cake, like carrot cake or gingerbread. The spice is predominantly cinnamon (mellow "Ceylon" cinnamon rather than the hotter cassia), but there's something else there, too, like nutmeg or ginger.
Interestingly, the instructions say to only steep for two minutes. I'm ignoring their ...
Raspberry Royale® Black Tea from Bigelow Tea
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: ?????81 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

This was among the better bagged, fruit-flavored black teas I've had. Raspberry teas are uncommon in my experience, so I figured to try some that I saw on a hotel tray in Gillette, Wyoming. Their water ain't the greatest, so I drank one there and also took a bag home. Upon ripping open the foil-lined pouch (s.o.p. f...

Here is another of Upton's new naturally flavored series. This does have a pleasant, believable peach taste, and it is enjoyable both hot and cold. The price is pretty high though - I think it is the most expensive flavored tea I have seen from Upton, and I wonder why. Maybe because it contains some flower petals as...

I got some of this because the Upton website said it was a favorite in their office, and I figure that they know what is good. This is clearly a cut above your average lemon-flavored black tea (like Bigelow's Lemon Lift, e.g.) The lemon flavor is fresh and tangy, and seems very much like the real thing. The base tea...

A pleasant, fruity aroma is the outstanding feature of this tea. This contains some juniper along with orange and lemon zest flavors, which gives it a dash of piny zing. It is pretty mild overall, and tastes better lukewarm than hot or iced, interestingly enough.

Tropical fruits, peaches, and flavored black teas all tickle my fancy, so this offering from a Dollar Tree store promised to be worthwhile, as long as they used natural flavors (check), and didn't skimp on the flavoring itself (check). [TEViVE could use more tea, however...more on that below.]

I got this from a restaurant hot-tea selection box and took home an extra bag to taste-test on good well water. The bergamot was somewhat feeble throughout the consumption experience. Still, it's among the better Twinings teas I've had (yes, I realize that's not saying much).
Sweetened, as I always do, this prod...

Curiously, this line of tea isn't found on the TEViVE website as of this writing, but I have no problem finding it in a local Dollar Tree, where I first saw it. On the bottom of the boxes, TEViVE provides a batch number and "best before" date, as well as lists the blueberry and honey flavorings as being natural. The ...

This is my favorite Earl Grey Cream tea yet, and that's not a knock on Murchie's excellent rendition, which is a better value but just a notch below Teavana in richness.

This is one of the best Earl Greys I've had. The base tea is wonderful and the bergamot is subtle. Note that I'm saying that "subtle" is a positive thing, so if you like Earl Grey with a powerful citrus flavor, then this one might not be what you're looking for.
That said, the tea is extremely mellow for an Assam in...
Peach & Passion Fruit from Ahmad Tea

Both the dry tea and steeped liquor have a perfumy peach aroma that smells to me like peach Jolly Rancher candy (a discontinued flavor, sadly). There's just enough passion fruit to be detectable, but I bought this particular flavor for the passion fruit and am a bit disappointed that it isn't stronger.
The fruit fla...
