Half-litre pot at home. Pours nearly clear darkish brown with no sediment. Clear aroma of cinnamon, cloves and black tea, with hints of orange peel. Complex but smooth flavour of black tea, with notes of almonds and touches of vanilla and cinnamon and hints of cloves and orange peel. Smooth palate with almond hints and...

Half-litre pot at home. Pours clear copper brown with no sediment. Clear aroma of coconut, with notes of roast and black tea leaves and mild hints of caramel. Sweetish flavour of coconut (fortunately, not aggressive, like it can be in some cheap brands I have tried before), with bitter nuances of black tea and touches ...

A special holiday season release from Upton. Now here is a new concept - a "New England Chai." This has a mellow black tea base and is spruced up with vanilla and other spices - I could make out some cardomom and what I thought was allspice but appears to be clove. It is pleasantly spicy and has a nice aroma, but Up...

Half-litre pot at home. Pours clear light fudge brown with no sediment. Clear aroma of Darjeeling tea, with notes of bergamot oil and mild touches of caramel. Mild, bitterish Darjeeling flavour, with its natural sweetness, enriched with dryish notes of bergamot. Clean black tea palate. This is one of the best Earl Grey...

This smells and tastes like some halfway point between Bigelow Earl Grey and Twinings Earl Grey. With Bigelow, the bergamot note is strong and pointed and the tea has a more earthy taste. With Twinings, the bergamot note is more gentle and the tea has a more woody taste. With Harney & Sons Earl Grey, the bergamot note ...

This blend has some potential, but is far from my favorite flavored black tea. The first and biggest turnoff was the dry-bag aroma, which reminded me of cheap incense—specifically, the sort employed to smoke-bomb a room fast, in order to mask pot usage. This is the second tea that has given off that cheap-incense v...

I think that this is the first time I will have said (or written) this, but I actually prefer the teabag form of this tea. The balance of flavors is off in this. I've tried four different ways of brewing it, changing both the times and the amount of tea, but nothing felt quite right.
Using 2 1/2 tsp for 2 min using...

Now this was an unexpected treat! Rarely (if ever) have I had the loose and bagged version of a tea from the same company, at the same time, from the same order. Not only that, they're rather different (how?), but both delicious. I specifically had ordered the EG loose mainly for my wife, and the EG bags came in a v...

Caveat: Constant Comment is one of my very favorite teas, so even a noticeable dropoff from that still garners a favorable rating from me.
The Good: As bagged decaf teas go, this is one of the most tolerable, and dare I say pleasant. Most of the wonderfully clove/orange/cinnamon aroma and flavor of original Const...

This is tea from a tea bag, so right from the start, we're not dealing with the best quality. But, this sort of tea isn't for having a gourmet experience. If it were, they wouldn't sell it for a few dollars at the local supermarket. It's a daily tea. On that level, it does fine.
The flavor profile is different from ...

We gleefully had sniffed demo leaves of Murchie's Earl Grey in their Victoria store before, but since had brought home and ordered only the tea bags of the cream version (Earl Grey Cream). My wife is a bigtime EG drinker—probably half her total tea consumption—and wanted some loose-leaf tea as part of our annual f...

This is my favorite Earl Grey Cream tea yet, and that's not a knock on Murchie's excellent rendition, which is a better value but just a notch below Teavana in richness.
Teavana has undergone a remaking of its marketing and strategy under the Starbucks banner: no more stand-alone tea shops, just 15-sachet plastic t...
Peach & Passion Fruit from Ahmad Tea
Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend62 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

Both the dry tea and steeped liquor have a perfumy peach aroma that smells to me like peach Jolly Rancher candy (a discontinued flavor, sadly). There's just enough passion fruit to be detectable, but I bought this particular flavor for the passion fruit and am a bit disappointed that it isn't stronger.
The fruit fla...

A local Middle Eastern market had a gift pack of this tea along with a free Ahmad tea mug for $4, so I couldn't pass it up. I decided to try it alongside the loose leaf Special Blend. One thing that I'll note is that, though I assume they're intended to be the same tea, the packaging on the bagged tea doesn't include t...

The "subtle flavor of bergamot" is definitely subtle. I can't actually smell any bergamot in the dry tea. Instead, it smells entirely like a malty CTC Assam.
While the tea's brewing, I can just make out the citrus through the tea. I'm getting less malt than when dry, but much more dry, tannic, earthy leaf with a bac...

Plenty sweet and lightly spiced with clove and vanilla. This has a fair amount of orange flavor too. More than a little artificial tasting, and the base tea is bland. Nothing special here, but it is well priced.

Wow. This was one of the best-executed, if not THE best, fruit black teas I've ever tried.
I'm not normally a fan of flavored teas, but I had the opportunity to smell this at my parent's house, and the leaf smelled really appealing. The fruitiness is strong but it doesn't completely cover the aroma of the tea itself...

Twinings is a very afforadle and accessible brand of bagged teas - and if you like a classic Earl Grey (Bergamot flavor), and if you happen to like lavendar - the aroma of this tea is very nice. I adore this spicy tea. It tastes like Christmas morning in a cup. This one is good with or without a bit of honey; it is sweet enough to drink on its own. A splash of cream makes for a decadent treat. This tastes almost like melted red hot candies. It is powerful!

For a store-brand bagged tea, this seasonal offering was excellent! My immediate impression sniffing the dry bag was a striking resemblance to the flavor (not smell) of Good Earth's "Sweet and Spicy": very intense on cinnamon, with orange quite noticeable. However, unlike the Good Earth tea, this one has black tea (...

At first blush, Candy Cane Crush is definitively festive! With candy cane pieces and snowflake sprinkles mixed into the tea, it has the appearance of being quite literally made for the holiday season. But does it taste festive? DAVIDsTEA bills it as a sweet, icy-cool peppermint black tea, so candy canes do seem to be w...

DAVIDsTEA claims they take their french toast very seriously. In my opinion, they’re right! When I first saw that they had a french toast tea, I couldn’t imagine it tasting anything like one of my favorite breakfasts. Boy was I wrong! The Cardamom French Toast tea is rich, creamy, and tastes just like a buttery sli...
