This is also known as "Empress Afternoon" after the Empress Hotel in Victoria BC, down the street from Murchie's main tea store, and where this brand is served with ritual formality every afternoon. This tea should be called "Campfire Black." It takes like your are drinking smoke combined with black tea. Depending on the quality of black tea used in this blend, this tea is excellent. This Russian Caravan is a good choice for people who want smokiness without the full intensity of a Lapsang. It's a good winter morning tea. However, its lack of subtlety caused me to tire of it, and I've taken a break from it for about a year. But it's worth coming back to.
