Culinary Teas Earl Grey from Culinary Teas

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

65 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 29th, 2024

This is a pleasant EG, but very much on the lighter side. There is not a lot of bergamot flavor, and the tea is a little thin - but it makes a perfectly enjoyable cup. I would recommend this to someone who likes a mild Earl Grey.

Lavender Earl Grey from Culinary Teas

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

75 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 20th, 2024

This has a little lavender flavor plus a lot in the potpourri-like aroma, and there is plenty of bergamot too. With lemon or lime and sugar, it has a candied orange peel flavor. I preferred it with milk and sugar, which is a little more subtle. A good change of pace from the usual Earl Grey.

Baroness Grey from Culinary Teas

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

70 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Jan. 11th, 2024

I will always give a flavored Earl Grey a try; sometimes they are very impressive, sometimes not. It is interesting to see how the teamakers alter the EG formula - I have had them with lavender, chocolate, rose, and vanilla, maybe others too. This Baroness adds lemon, cornflower, and rose along with the bergamot (and...

Organic Earl Grey Black Tea from Arbor Teas

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: India

80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 29th, 2023

This is a good deal on an organic earl grey - as of this writing an 11 oz bag is selling for a very attractive price, and it is a good tea. The base tea is pretty mellow, and there is a little candied orange flavor from the bergamot. This is on the low-key side for the style. The aroma of the dry tea is strong and citr...

Earl Grey Supreme from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

75 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5

This is a mellow EG, with a smooth base tea and subdued bergamot flavor. Usually I prefer my EG with lemon and sugar, but imo this works best with milk and just a little sugar.

Earl Grey Blue Flower from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Blue Flower Earl Grey – Region: Blend

85 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

I was blown away by this when I first tried it, but a little less so now. Btw it has a slight name and number change: it is now Blue Flower Earl Grey, NT16. The use of flowers and flavoring adds a unique and refreshing twist to the Earl Grey model. The base tea is fairly light, and I think they have reduced the inte...

Natural Bergamot Earl Grey from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

65 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

More floral and perfumey than a typical EG. It is not Upton's best but it is a worthwhile tea.

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Germany

95 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5

It is always exciting for me to see a new Earl Grey appear among Upton's line up. This one strikes a great balance, with a light bergamot presence matched with a mellow base tea. This makes for an EG that tastes lovely and never irritates or seems too aggressive.

I thought this might be a real mess - (a blend of tea, bergamot, chocolate, flower petals and lemon peel?) - but it is a nice mellow tea, best with milk. Excellent when some lapsang souchong is added!

Extra Bergamot English Earl Grey from Upton Tea Imports

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend

90 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 20th, 2018

This has a little more bergamot than your average earl grey - it has more heft and orange taste - but it is not overwhelming, and is within the normal range for an EG. I find this to be a very good tea, nice with milk and sugar or lemon and sugar (which is my favorite way to take EG), and possessing a pleasant aroma....
