This tea definitely resembles a Darjeeling but it packs a bit more of a punch--more bitterness and astringency. People who like the aroma profile and lighter color of Darjeelings but find them a bit too mellow may really like this tea. The finely broken leaves have a good mix of greener and olive-colored leaves. Remarkably complex for a broken-leaf tea of this price: fresh vegetal tones, a bit of a malty aftertaste. Somehow both light and full-bodied.Infuses very quickly--do not leave for any longer or this tea will become very bitter and astrigent. I actually prefer using fewer leaves than recommended; the complexity of the aroma comes out more, and the tea is less bitter. Outstanding value! This isn't the most complex tea but it remains without a doubt my favorite black tea that I have tried in this price range. |
