Yun Nan Gold from Two Hills Tea
Style: Yunnan Gold – Region: Yunnan, China53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 8th, 2013
Purchased at the Newark Natural Foods coop in Newark, Delaware. I suspect that this may not have been very fresh.
Aroma is peppery and slightly fruity. Smooth flavor, but mild. Flavor slightly sour. Overall character a lot more like shu (ripened) Pu-erh than like other Yunnan gold teas I've sampled. Upon drinki...
Earl Grey from Ahmad Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 7th, 2013
I thought this was a classic British-style Earl Grey in tea bags. I liked it considerably better than Twinings.
Moderate body, just the right amount of bergamot. I found the base tea to be less aromatic and complex than I like, however. I strongly preferred Ahmad's English Afternoon blend, which has a lighter ber...
Dong Ding Oolong Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Anhui, China80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 7th, 2013
Very good, but expensive for what it is.
A medium-roast, woody Dong Ding; dry leaf is quite aromatic. The initial smell isn't that impressive, but if you really stick your nose in it, it smells very good: a rich, nutty aroma. I tend to prefer the modern, greener Dong Ding oolongs; even Arbor Teas' Jade oolong is a...
Coconut Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Flavored Black Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 5th, 2013
This tea wasn't what I was expecting when I originally read "Coconut." I liked the tea as a basic black, but I was surprised when I didn't taste coconut at all. The smell also didn't hold a hint of coconut, instead the tea smelled strongly of vanilla. I thought the tea was good, and I definitely wasn't disappointed,...

This is the first tea I've tried from Ahmad Tea that I was disappointed with. I found it uninteresting and below-average quality.
Aroma is slightly malty, but weak overall.
I found this tea to have an unpleasant sourness and a slightly odd aroma. The aroma was malty, but it seemed too much like other generic br...
Korakundah Estate Nilgiri FOP Black Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Black Tea – Region: Nilgiri, India67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 5th, 2013
This tea has a really sweet flavor. It tastes rich and strong, and not bitter at all. It's interesting. I like it. I added cream and sugar.

A very strong, very bold blend that will definitely kick start your day. Rich color and flavor. Stands up very well with milk and sugar, though I like mine black and bold.

Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 3rd, 2013
A top-notch white tea for a very low price: $30 a pound for a white tea that is organic certified and is among the better examples of this style of tea that I've sampled.
I found this tea was on the light side for pai mu tan or white peony tea, both by color and flavor, but it was still pleasant and flavorful.

Chai Masala Tulsi Tea from Organic India
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Apr. 3rd, 2013
I usually like chai, but I don't like this tea much. The flavor is kind of bland - I had to brew it for a long time (7 minutes). I can't taste the black tea. The flavor is kind of overpowered by tulsi, which I don't like much in this context, and I don't think it goes well with the spices. I added cream and sugar.

Apr. 2nd, 2013
This tea is as tough as it is tender, just as a Princess should be. Has a very mild fermentation quality that gives it the faintest nod to a puerh. Stands up well to milk and sugar, though I prefer it black.

Delicious for afternoon tea. Have had it with and without milk and it's quite good either way. Can happily recommend this blend.

I thought this tea was quite bad, certainly below average for Stash's offerings. I would not buy it and would not drink it again. This is the worst tea I've tried from Stash, a company that I know is capable of selling much higher-quality tea, even in tea bags.
This tea was very unpleasantly bitter, and had a hars...
Organic Breakfast Blend Tea from Stash Tea
Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Apr. 1st, 2013
This tea has a kind of bitter aroma and slightly bitter flavor. There wasn't anything about the flavor that I particularly liked, it just seemed kind of boring, but it was okay. I added cream and sugar.

The aroma is "earthy". The leaves are rolled into small balls, thus the snail name. Liquor has rich color. Excellent clean clear flavor. I'm impressed with this tea. Certainly it has made it to my top 3. I will purchase this tea again and again.

This is quite simply, ambrosia. A truly sublime tea.
Without doubt, not just the best black tea I have tasted but the best tea itself, and the closest I have come yet to that Holy Grail of the perfect cup of tea. Lovely aroma and the flavour is perfectly balanced, strong, yet smooth, typical Assam maltiness but no b...
Wu Yi Oolong Tea from Arbor Teas
Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Wuyi, Fujian, China80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 29th, 2013
As usual, I was pleased with this sample from Arbor Teas! I really appreciated the burnt and smokey smell of the brewed leaf and enjoyed the flavor, which I found to be smoother and richer than most oolongs - I usually expect a more subtle cup. Overall, I liked this tea and would recommend it to others.

The spicy smell of chai is pretty much always pleasing to me, so I appreciated that this tea delivered. The only downside was that the flavor of the tea was a little sour, but this dissipated as the tea sat. Overall, I thought the tea was good, but nothing terribly outstanding. I'd have it at a coffee shop if it was...

Mar. 29th, 2013
I've sampled a bunch of dragonwell lately and most of it either falls really solidly into the legit zone, or is unrecognizable as its style and not particularly pleasant to drink. This one is somewhere in between. I'd say it's legit but among the lower-end of the teas I'd label in this fashion. Think enjoyable, but ...

A good choice if you are looking for an English Breakfast tea and it's organic & fair trade to boot. It has a bold and distinct flavor -- for an English Breakfast -- but is not overpowering. Goes quite well with a lump of sugar and a spot of milk. Cheers.

Dry leaf is beautiful, but not very aromatic. Looks like a bai mu dan (white peony) by leaf shape and size, but a shou mei by the darker leaf color.
Upon brewing, there's a fleeting suggestion of lemon in the aroma, but when I drink it, the flavor and aroma are subdued. Aroma is mostly of caramel and autumn leaves...

Style: Hojicha – Region: Japan77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

This tea is good. I'm surprised, because I usually feel indifferent about hojicha, but this tea tastes less green than usual, and it has a rich, crisp flavor. I added cream and sugar.

I've had a few cups of this herbal tea over the past couple days, and I've been satisfied each brew. The dried leaf had a pleasant grassy smell and I enjoyed the springy texture - it was pretty fun to put in my tea infuser! The flavor had a subtle sour taste to it, but I enjoyed it.

English Afternoon from Ahmad Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 26th, 2013
Surprisingly Strong. A robust black tea with a strong, malty base but lighter overtones as well. The flavoring is Earl-grey-like, a light bergamot scent, slightly lemony and perfumey as well. Aroma rather floral, suggestive of rose and Queen Anne's lace.
Bold flavor. Quite bitter and tannic, with an astringent f...
Guangzhou Milk Oolong (Quangzhou Milk Oolong) from DAVIDsTEA
Style: Flavored Oolong – Region: China80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 25th, 2013
I should say I like this tea, but I do have a gripe about labeling. Milk oolongs aren't, in and of themselves, flavored teas. As I understand it, the name is applied to a particular oolong variety that has a milk-y flavor and aroma. However, some companies add flavor to their milk oolongs further to increase the milkyn...
