This tea is pretty good. It's strong and not too bitter. It tastes like other low-grade decaf black teas. I added cream and sugar.

Nov. 25th, 2013

Even though I am not from the UK, I drink my tea as a lot do there-cream and sugar. Since drinking this tea 5 years ago or so, it has won my heart. It is my stable go to basic black tea bag tea. When I want a no frills blend, this is it. It is very comforting to me and I reach for it when I am being nostalgic. Yes...

2nd Flush Darjeeling from Waterfall Tea Company

Style: Darjeeling Second Flush – Region: Darjeeling, India

77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 22nd, 2013

A classic and high-quality example of second flush. This was my first introduction to Waterfall teas, and it makes me eager to try more of this company's teas and see where they go!

This is the first pyramid sachet that I thought surpassed Two Leaves and a Bud's Darjeeling in quality. It is a notch more expensive ...

English Afternoon from Twinings

Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????

53 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 22nd, 2013

I received this as one of the three samples in Twinings free samples program. One thing I like about using a program like this is that I can be sure that the bag is fresh--which isn't always the case if I obtain the tea bag in a trade or sample it when out at some event or at another person's house. Twinings only gav...

Dublin Morning Tea from Bewley's Coffee and Tea Company

Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: Blend

60 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 22nd, 2013

This was my morning tea of choice this AM. Since I try to get my caffeine in before noon, I really went for it this morning with a strong black tea. My box is almost gone. I enjoyed this tea. Not fancy but reliable. I pretty much knew what I was getting, a tea I can add adequate amounts of sugar and cream to and b...

Awake English Breakfast Filterbag from Tazo Tea

Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend

63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 21st, 2013

I tend to favor English Breakfast. Tazo doesn't disappoint me. Nice tea I can count on to 'awake' me just as stated. I steep for 3 mins. I take with cream and a scant of sugar. I brew bags at home, since I can usually buy a whole box for the price Starbucks want to charge me for one cup at the store. So, this is ...

Classic Blend from Tetley Tea

Style: Black Tea – Region: Blend

23 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Nov. 21st, 2013

I do not like the taste of Tetley. No matter if I steep it for 1, 2, or 3 mins-it doesn't matter. I hate the comparison of steeping grass clippings, since I have never done so, I feel it is not a fair comparison. However, that is all I can think of, to compare the taste to. I used to buy Lipton to have on hand when...

Black Tea from Lipton Tea

Style: Black Tea – Region: ?????

Nov. 21st, 2013

I wouldn't be drinking tea today if it wasn't for Lipton, so I feel it is only fair that I pay homage to them. I will make this short and sweet. It isn't the best (they know that) and it isn't the worst (they know that as well). For the value and their longevity, you have to tip your hat. They are doing something r...

Yunnan Imperial Black from Single Origin Teas

Style: Black Tea – Region: Yunnan, China

90 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 18th, 2013

The aroma of this tea is wonderfully sublime, woodsy, muscatel, and oaky like a wine cask. The brewed tea brings more earthiness and wood notes, the liquid is very sweet and makes my nose tingle.

The taste is wonderful! One of the smoothest black teas I have ever had. Sweet, earthy, and oaky. A wonderful tea.

Nov. 18th, 2013

I thought this tea was great. I really liked the roasty smell, and thought it was a great tea for a cool fall morning.

I didn't notice a peppery smell or taste at all, so I feel like the description is deceiving.

Style: Darjeeling Black Tea – Region: Darjeeling, India

47 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5
Nov. 15th, 2013

This one disappointed me. It tasted a lot less recognizable as a Darjeeling than most Darjeeling tea bags do. There was a faint hint of the muscatel grape aroma, but the dominant aroma was like a generic black tea, not much different from Lipton and the like.

The color of the brewed cup is dark, and the tea has a ...

I really enjoyed this tea. Dry leaf is dark with golden tips, and has a strong and pleasant aroma of dried fruit, like raisins.

Flavor is very smooth, cup has just enough astringency to give it a pleasant body...aroma is strongly of dried fruit, with tones of vanilla, and a sort of bready finish, tending towards to...

Initially sampled at the Philadelphia Coffee and Tea Festival, but I'm glad I sampled this on my own because I liked it even more when I brewed it myself. An unusual Keemun with both cooling and warming qualities. Strong enough to be a breakfast tea, but stands out among both other English Breakfasts and other Keemun...

This is one of those teas that I get for free at my office, so I can't complain about the price! There isn't much outstanding in its flavor or smell, so it's pretty basic. I think this tea is a decent bagged black tea, and don't mind having it provided for me.

Chingwo County Tea from Culinary Teas

This tea was a complete surprise. It seems to be out-of-stock and I know it's been in my friend's cupboard for at least a couple years, so who knows how old it was--it was definitely not terribly fresh, yet it was still among one of the best teas I've sampled in a long time. If it's old, then it has certainly aged we...

Oct. 25th, 2013

I found this tea interesting in that it is in the English Breakfast style, but is made from pure Assam. The tea bag looks unimpressive--it's just a simple tea bag filled with very finely broken tea dust or fannings.

The brewed cup is not bad though. It's a little darker in color than a typical English Breakfast, w...

Like most of Ahmad's Teas, impressive quality. Much darker in color than Ahmad's Darjeeling tea bags though; a surprisingly different tea. Both are good, but this is much more complex.

Dry leaf has a very pleasant aroma, with a strong suggestion of wintergreen, rice, and muscat grape. This is one of the most arom...

I was expecting the taste of this Darjeeling tea to be quite bitter, however, it was refreshing. This tea was great value and even better than expected, the taste is refreshing and the aroma is not too strong and bitter like most black teas, nor too sweet. I would recommend this tea if you're looking for a tea which is...

Of course it has now been discontinued. They have kept their lesser brand.

I absolutely adore this tea. Wonderful amber color. Smooth Yunnan flavor with a sweet caramel taste being most prominent and a light spicy, peppery tone as a highlight. Does well with a short one minute steep for the first infusion, 2 minutes for the second, and 5 for the third.

It is a bit pricey, but worth every ...
