The aroma is sweet, a blend of delicate cherry and a delicate floral and fresh vegetation. Sniffing this tea reminds me of the aroma of spring rain and refreshing cool air, it is very evocative and delicate.
The first thing that strikes me after my first sip of the first steep is how refreshing it is, I feel revita...

The aroma is very delicate and very fresh, a mellow blend of fruit like sweetness and roasted chestnuts. Of course there is a vegetal presence, it is one of green beans and fresh vegetation, there is also a delicate hint of flowers at the finish. This tea smells wonderful, it has my favorite aspects of a delicate Chine...

The aroma of the leaves is very rich and vegetal, like asparagus or even green bean casserole. There is also a hint of chestnut, an even smaller hint of pepper, and sweetness as an afterthought. This tea smells delicious and is making me more than a little hungry.
The taste is very smooth and mild, I am amazed how c...

This was recommended at the Teavana store when we asked for a gunpowder green, which my boyfriend likes. The SA advised this would be close in flavor.
I'm not a fan, personally. I haven't met many plain green teas that I like. I tend to prefer jasmine green or genmaicha. Anyway, this was steeped for 3 minutes and t...

The aroma of the dry leaves is sweet and fresh, blending artichoke and lychee with a delicate hint of floral at the end. This tea smells like nature in springtime, bringing in the notes of fruits, flowers, and vegetation. It makes my nose happy.

First Grade Gunpowder Green from Upton Tea Imports
Style: Gunpowder Green Tea – Region: China77 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5

A good strong gunpowder, and a good value from Upton, as you can buy in bulk. No reason to buy a more expensive grade IMO.

My coarse palette can fortunately enjoy only strong green tea, and these tend to be the cheap ones. It's a good thing I can get a 7 oz bag of this stuff online for $3.50, since I drink a big thermos of it everyday.
I boil water in a teapot, then turn off the heat and toss the leaves right in, and let them steep for...
Gunpowder Green Tea - Temple of Heaven from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Gunpowder Green Tea – Region: ?????70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 8th, 2014
The only gunpowder tea I have ever had in a tea bag, and was among the better examples of gunpowder tea that I've tried, competing even against a lot of loose leaf (much better than the generic boxed stuff sold cheaply in most Chinatowns and Asian markets). Served in the little cafe in the middle of Franklin and Marsh...

A mix of strong vegetal (I would say green bean and a hint of spinach) and sesame seeds. There is a finish of yeasty bread and cherries.
The beginning of the taste is sweet, gently sweet like honeysuckle nectar and sesame seeds. It reminds me a of the aftertaste you get when eating sesame Halva but with a vegetal qu...

Thank you Dewey for this sample!
Dry leaf doesn't have much smell, but the minute the water hits the leaves there is an explosion of aroma that reminds me of very good Japanese sencha.
But once the tea has steeped it has a very different aroma, more like a Chinese green tea, very grassy, and with some toasty and ...

The aroma of the rather large dried leaves is both nutty and vegetal, mixing roasted peanuts and chestnuts with the aroma of spinach and a touch of kelp. There is a finish of smokiness
The taste is a bit bitter, like kale, in fact the vegetal tastes in this tea are like a blend of cooked spinach and kale. There is o...
Standard Gyokuro Tea from Kurihara Tea

The aroma is very green, like fresh grass and moisture, an odd description, but it reminded me of the way cut grass smells after a brief rain storm. There is also a touch of nuttiness and sweetness with an end note of sweet peas.
The taste is a bit grassy and sweet like stone fruit, there is a touch of fresh kelp an...
Royal Tea from Newman's Own Organics

I love that this tea is organic and *extremely* affordable, so I wish I liked it more. It goes bitter far too easily, though. I also wish it listed the style of green tea. However, it's well worth giving a shot to see whether or not you like it. A little sugar helps, but I prefer teas where this isn't necessary.

The aroma of the dry leaves is very kelpy and reminiscent of the sea air with a slight vegetal hint of spinach. The wet leaves are still quite kelpy and vegetal but now there is a fruity sweetness. The liquid smells like kelp and brackish water, which I find fantastic.
First is the initial kelp taste with a hint of ...

The aroma of this tea is a blend of vegetal and kelp, mixing seaweed, lettuce, and spinach with a distinct vegetation aroma. The leaves smell like food and nature. The wet leaves smell like a blend of kelp and kale with a spritz of citrus and a surprise note of teaberry. The liquid sans leaves smells vegetal with a fin...

The aroma is sweet and green, fresh grass and kelp with a touch of artichoke cover the vegetal end. Chestnut and very faint citrus notes cover the mild sweetness. This tea is very much so the 'ideal' of a Sencha, basically it smells exactly like you expect a Sencha to smell like.
The taste is a fantastic blend of fr...

A nice, simple green tea. The flavor is weaker than I would like, though. The aroma is likewise nice but too weak. I'd love to try a more robust version of this style tea.

The toasted rice flavor is quite strong. Some sips it didn't do much for me, other sips the smoky flavor felt like something I could get used to. I'll be more sure once I've tried a couple more of the bags.

I have also never had Dragon Well Green Tea, but I have had several other Chinese Green teas so when I was given this tea by a friend, I just had to try it. I definitely enjoyed this tea, but I found that it seemed to lack a robustness that I personally enjoy. I think this is a tea that would be suitable to the novice ...

Eh. Meh.
It's better than their black tea - but that's not saying much. I get this for free at the office - and I would pick this over Lipton Black (The tea that jolts like cawfee) any day.
Inexpensive and drinkable - but there are plenty of better green teas out there - and some are only a tad more money.

THIS tea. This may be the beginning to solving a mystery.
You see, when I lived in Japan for a year, I would make and enjoy teas just like this. I really love this flavor of green tea. It tastes and especially smells great.

My round green paper cylinder of this tea does not look like the one pictured, nor does the tea resemble the 1st reviewer's tea leaves.
I was given this tea by someone who was returning from the Phillipines and/or Singapore so perhaps it is packaged differently and a different source.
The leaves are not dry and a...
