Pure Oolong (Formerly China Oolong) from Twinings

Style: Oolong Tea – Region: Fujian, China

50 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 28th, 2010

The first sip of this oolong was delightful, but upon drinking a whole cup of it I wasn't as much of a fan. Significantly lighter than a black tea, the aroma is very floral, bordering on perfumey. Upon drinking more than a few sips, however, a lot of unpleasant qualities develop...there's a sourness, and some off qua...

Chai (formerly Indian Spiced Chai) from Twinings

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: ?????

43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Apr. 28th, 2010

The package recommends to brew for 4-6 minutes...I brewed for four. The black tea in this teabag was exceptionally weak--the cup was a clear reddish color, and I brewed with only about 6oz. of water. However, the lack of a bold black tea presence was made up for by a strong aroma of spice.

There are different spic...

Prince of Wales from Twinings

Style: Black Tea – Region: China

53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5

Fairly light overall, especially compared to Twinings' other black teas. There's some complexity in the aroma, in my opinion, more than their other black teas with the exception of their Ceylon (my favorite). Smooth...less astringency or bitterness. I find you can steep this one a little longer without it becoming t...

Green Tea from Twinings

Style: Sencha – Region: ?????

23 / 100 Aroma: 2/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 1/5
Dec. 7th, 2009

I was disappointed by this one, and this is my least favorite tea from Twinings yet. If you brew it with boiling water, it's very astringent. With water at a lower temperature, it's not flavorful enough. The aroma is muddled...this tea, unfortunately, seems to have acquired the worst aspects of a Sencha without the ...

Earl Grey from Twinings

Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: ?????

47 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 28th, 2009

I've had this both loose and in teabags, and while it's definitely a lot better loose, it still tastes more or less like the same tea. I've always found Twinings' rendition of Earl Grey to be one of the more muted ones...both in the black tea and the bergamot. It has less bite than I'd expect, and is a bit more mello...

Lady Grey from Twinings

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend

53 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5

Interesting in that it is oddly earl-grey-like but much more fruity. The black tea used in this blend seems to be lighter than the black tea used in a typical Earl Grey, which combined with the fruitiness makes for a lighter tea. I actually strongly prefer this to Twinings' earl grey.

Blackcurrants, Ginseng, and Tahitian Vanilla from Twinings

Style: Herbal Tea – Region: Blend

33 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 1/5 Value: 2/5
Oct. 13th, 2009

Very fruity, dominated by the blackcurrant. Lacking complexity in the aroma. No bitterness...but very sour, too sour for me. I didn't really notice the ginseng or vanilla. I much prefer Twining's blackcurrant-flavored black tea.

Herbal Unwind - Egyptian Camomile and Apple from Twinings

Style: Chamomile Blend – Region: Blend

27 / 100 Aroma: 1/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5

An artificial-seeming green apple aroma dominates this tea...there's only a hint of everything else. I had trouble enjoying this one; it was totally unbalanced and seemed unnatural.

Blackcurrant Breeze Black Tea (formerly Blackcurrant) from Twinings

Style: Fruit Black Tea – Region: Blend

77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Sep. 27th, 2009

I find the bold, almost pungent aroma of blackcurrants quite enjoyable in this tea...it's a deep, dark sort of fruitiness that blends very well with the black tea. The tea in this blend is nondescript and is dominated by the blackcurrant, but that's ok with me! This is a peculiar fruit blend but I enjoy it very much;...

Style: Pure Chamomile Tea – Region: ?????

53 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5

A typical and decent chamomile tea. Nothing really stands out...there's a little bit of the muted unpleasant aftertaste, and a hint of fruitiness in the aroma, a little bit of a straw-like flavor. Soothing. Not the best chamomile I've tried but certainly not the worst. Reasonably priced.

Premium Black Tea - Pure Mint from Twinings

Style: Black Tea with Mint – Region: Blend

43 / 100 Aroma: 4/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 3/5

Strong peppermint aroma, dominating the other aromas; only a weak aroma of black tea and spearmint. An unpleasant sourness. Definitely not among my favorite black tea / mint blends.
