Chocolate Puerh - Black Tea Blend from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Flavored Pu-erh – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 12th, 2014
Finally got to try a chocolate pu-erh!
Okay, this one was pleasant, but I feel like there are likely better versions out there. I can see why pu-erh can make a solid base for this kind of tea (the fish cake flavoring of it is muted by the chocolate), but it seems like the balance or the robustness of this one would ...
Spinach Chive - Savory Tea from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 11th, 2014
Not bad, but not as impressive as the other "savory" offerings by Numi. This one has a hint of saltiness or something. I feel like the mixture of herbs and spices in this one was a great idea, but maybe it needs a different balance of them.
Worth a shot, but not as strong as the others.
White Pomegranate Tea from Revolution Tea
Style: Fruit White Tea – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 10th, 2014
Not quite a new favorite, but solid. The fruity scent is quite nice. Though I think I'd prefer this with a different base tea, brewed well and kept hot this tea can be refreshing. People who like flavored white teas should certainly try this one.
I like that this tea comes with a ziplock bag inside so that you can ...
White Rose - Velvet Garden™ from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Flavored White Tea – Region: ?????67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Nov. 8th, 2014
Not bad. I liked the scent of the dry leaf better than the brewed cup. It was pleasant, though. I like this floral flavor and would like to try similar brews with perhaps different base teas. If you're big into flavored white teas, this one strikes me as a solid choice--I've simply had a hard time finding white teas to...

By both smell and flavor, I think this tea needs to be coupled with seafood--sushi would work great. The aroma in particular reminds me of Japanese fish cakes. There's also a very light natural creaminess to the texture/mouthfeel. It loses appeal as it cools, so use a very good mug or be prepared to it fairly quickly....

Another very good "savory" tea. The most notable of the flavors listed is the cabbage. Though normally I'm not a big fan of this flavor, here it works very well. No doubt the inclusion of beet is responsible for the pink look of the brew. Overall, the flavors of vegetable and spices are very balanced.

Broccoli Cilantro - Savory Tea from Numi Organic Tea
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 4/5
Nov. 6th, 2014
Just bought a mixed pack of Numi's "savory" teas, and this one does not disappoint. It tastes a bit like a well-spiced vegetable soup, without tasting salty or "brothy". At once soothing and invigorating, this is a tea (there's decaf green tea in it) that I could see myself pouring to cope with a winter cold.
As per...
Geeky Green Tea from Positiffitea
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

Not a bad green tea. It has a little ginger-like flair, though ginger is not listed as an ingredient. The peppermint and lemongrass are subtle. I don't know what gingko tastes like, but it must blend pretty well because I don't taste anything off putting.
Neither bland nor fantastic, it's certainly worth trying at l...
Mtn High Chai from Two Leaves and a Bud
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: Assam, India57 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 2/5 Value: 2/5

Based on the deliciously spicy dry aroma I was very excited to try this tea. Unfortunately, the flavor was much more flat, weak, and less interesting. How unfortunate.
On the plus side, it makes for a solid latte. So if you like your tea with milk and perhaps a bit of sugar, this may well be a favorite cup for you. ...
Casablanca Twist from Adagio Teas

If I didn't know better, I'd have thought this was a chamomile, not a Darjeeling. The mint was fine, if you like mint, but overall I just wasn't impressed.

Though I'm not generally big on Jasmine green teas, this one was obviously high quality. The floral aspects were heady, but pretty well balanced. I brewed the tea a little too long for the first cup, resulting in it having a slight bitterness characteristic of some Jasmine green teas. My second cup successfully avoided...

Now THIS is my kind of Earl Grey. Love the aroma. The flavor is at once sweet, citrusy, and deliciously floral--all blended perfectly into a beautifully soothing, must-be-experienced tea. The black tea provides body, but imparts no bitterness at all. Just perfection. :-)

I haven't tried a lot of decaffeinated black teas, but I'm starting to think I may prefer them. I haven't tried the regular version of this tea yet, but I appreciate that it doesn't have the bitterness I commonly associate with some black teas. It tastes fruity and fresh, and smells wonderful too.
Though it's made o...
Peach Jasmine Dragon Pearl Green Tea from TeaVivre
Style: Fruit Green Tea – Region: Fujian, China90 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Sep. 11th, 2014
Very fresh, fruity tea! The jasmine is muted and well blended with the tea and peach flavors. The peach is at the ideal strength--neither hidden nor overwhelming, and tasting natural rather than fake. I brewed it longer than I was expecting to because the tea seemed to be diffusing very slowly. This may have been becau...

Excellent jasmine pearl! Very smooth. I tend to get tired of jasmine teas where the jasmine dominates too much, so I was happy that this one was well balanced. The tea I had was in a sachet rather than loose, but the sachet was very airy and was very full of tea. When I've had loose pearls like this before, I've used o...

Though the cranberry flavoring isn't the most impressive or fresh tasting, it's the best thing I like about this tea. I don't really taste the tea itself, though it does give the tea some body. Unfortunately, the halfway decent first cup changed dramatically into a non-existent second cup. Very disappointed in this.

Earl Grey from Bigelow Tea
Style: Earl Grey Tea – Region: Blend67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5

Considering that I'm not often crazy about Earl Grey, I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. I managed to not overbrew it, and so I found it fairly smooth. I can distinctly taste the bergamot, which I like. It's true that it isn't a particularly complex tea, but with a bit of creamer it's a perfectly respectable way t...

Not bad, but not my type of tea. The bergamot flavor is very muted and I do taste some bitterness (even though I tried to prevent this with a relatively short steeping).
For my second cup I added hazelnut creamer and this improved the tea immensely. So if you like a creamy tea, this isn't a bad base, but as a genera...
Green Tea with Mint from Bigelow Tea

If you like the idea of drinking wild grasses mixed with a bit of mint, this tea is for you. I find that these flavors initially clash (perhaps because they weren't exactly what I expected) and don't blend the way they should, though the more I sip the more it grows on me. Certainly not a favorite, but I do think there...

This tea is a bit meh to me. It's not bad, exactly, but it's very ordinary and not really what it should be. I like teas with lemon to have a brighter, bolder flavor. In this tea the lemon is very muted. If you want a dominant green tea flavor with just a hint of lemon, you'll probably be more impressed with this than ...

Quite a nice tea. The base tea and the bergamot blended well, with neither one overwhelming or dominating the other. I wasn't quite dazzled by the flavor, but this is easily the best of the "Earls" I've tried so far. The white tea isn't bitter the way that black often is, so I suspect this is how I'll like my bergamot ...

This tea needs a really short steep time for me--say, 30 seconds--in order to be pleasing. Otherwise, it quickly becomes bitter. In fact, by the flavor, I would have guessed this was a black tea.
Not too bad if the steeping is kept brief, but there are a lot of teas I've enjoyed more.
Apple Meadow (Formerly Green Apple) from Bare Tea
Style: Fruit Green Tea – Region: China67 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 2/5

This is a lovely tea. The green apple flavoring was pleasant and natural, not artificial or excessively tart. It went very nicely with the green tea. Great for when you want a lightly sweet fruit tea.
I do wish the flavor was a bit stronger--the more the tea cooled down, the more muted its flavor became. So once you...
Genmaicha Green Tea Whole Leaf from Ten Ren Tea

Not bad at all! I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. I'd had tea flavored with rice before and not cared for it, but the flavor of this one was distinctly different. Specifically, it tasted like lightly sweetened puffed rice cereal balanced with the more savory flavor of tea itself. The puffed rice was dominant for ...

I like the idea of this tea a bit better than the execution, in this case. I'm not generally a fan of black teas, but bergamot is a nice flavor, so with the right green tea and done well, I bet that it would be lovely. Here, it was a bit too easy to overbrew the tea. The directions advise 2-4 minutes, but that's far to...
