Lavender Sencha Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Japan73 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Jul. 8th, 2013
The aroma of lavender overpowers the aroma of the sencha with the fresh leaves, it is sad but I love the smell of lavender and am a sucker for anything lavender flavored.
The brewed tea has more of the bright green aroma of the sencha which blends well with the lavender. The color is also a really lovely light gree...
Organic Jasmine Pearls Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Jasmine Pearls – Region: China40 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 24th, 2013
Like the other Wegmans jasmine teas, I found the dry leaf to have a cloying, bubble gum like sweetness.
Unfortunately, I found this aroma persisted into the brewed cup more than I'd like. Something about it screams artificial. I don't know if this tea is naturally scented but it's one of the less natural Jasmine v...
Blueberry Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Miscellaneous Blend – Region: Blend97 / 100 Aroma: 10/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Jun. 16th, 2013
My perpetual quest for the perfect Blueberry tea might have finally ended. The first thing I noticed about this tea when I opened the large tin at Wegmans were the beautiful leaves. Whole leaves and buds mixed with large dried blueberries and pretty cornflower petals. I am not sure what kind of teas were used in this b...

I was really impressed with the scent and flavor of this tea, this is probably one of the best jasmine teas I've had. Good job, Wegmans!
Lavender Sencha Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Flavored Green Tea – Region: Japan57 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
Jun. 12th, 2013
This one was a bit odd.
The combination of lavender and sencha, oddly produces a smell similar to fruit loops. It's also a smell I associate a bit with soap or shampoo.
I brewed briefly as recommended (1 minute), and the tea was a bit weak for my tastes. I tried steeping 3 minutes, because this brings out more ...
Organic Jasmine Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Jasmine Tea – Region: China47 / 100 Aroma: 3/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 2/5
Jun. 11th, 2013
Dry leaf has a very fruity aroma that I'm not terribly fond of, almost suggestive of bubble-gum. I find it cloying.
Upon brewing, the aroma is similar, slightly less offensive...less floral and more fruity than normal for jasmine, and balanced by some sort of edgy herbaceous undertones of the base tea. Very smooth...
Ureshino Tama Ryokucha from Wegmans
Style: Tamaryokucha (Guricha) – Region: Saga, Japan63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 3/5
May. 25th, 2013
I haven't had much Guricha so I can't compare this tea -- overall I thought it was good.
I liked this tea warm -- it was smooth and had a subtle flavor.
My only qualm was that it tasted a little burnt and strong when it got cold -- blech! I wouldn't recommend this for an iced tea.
Organic Jasmine Silver Needle Tea from Wegmans
Style: Jasmine Silver Needle – Region: China73 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
May. 25th, 2013
This one was surprisingly different from the pure, unscented silver needles from Wegmans. I liked it much more. Compared to other jasmine silver needles I tried in the past but did not review, this one was much more aromatic.
The dry leaf smells very strongly like wintergreen, almost suggestive of bubblegum. I fo...
Organic Irish Breakfast Black Tea from Wegmans
Style: Irish Breakfast – Region: India67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
May. 1st, 2013
I thought this tea was good, but I was expecting it to be a little stronger since it's Irish Breakfast. Surprisingly, if you are looking for a strong brew of tea from Wegmans, I'd recommend the Organic Assam over this.
This tea had a subtle roasted taste, with a bit of a nutty flavor, and it had a smooth pleasing t...
Ureshino Tama Ryokucha from Wegmans
Style: Tamaryokucha (Guricha) – Region: Saga, Japan80 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Apr. 29th, 2013
A high-end Japanese green tea, which I found infuses fast and is tricky to steep more than once. The first cup is excellent, but I was a bit let down overall, especially with how tough this one is to brew multiple times.
This tea was so similar to Wegmans' Okumidori Sencha in color and smell (and was the same exact...
Assam Organic Tea from Wegmans
Style: Assam – Region: India67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 29th, 2013
The flavor of this tea was a bit smokey and burnt for my taste, but I liked the tea overall. I was especially impressed at how strong the tea was from a small amount of leaf. The price was also extremely reasonable.

Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 23rd, 2013
I thought this tea was good for a typical English Breakfast, nothing outstanding. It wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be given that it is loose-leaf tea, but I did enjoy the roasted smell and the heaviness of its consistency. I'd drink it again, but wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Style: Sencha – Region: Japan70 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 17th, 2013
A very pleasant and affordable green tea. Strangely potent, given how mild tasting it is.
I tend not to like these matcha-infused teas, preferring either to drink actual matcha or just plain green tea, but this one was better than some of them. I also found that more of the matcha character came out in this tea th...
Lapsang Souchong Organic Tea from Wegmans
Style: Lapsang Souchong – Region: China87 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 11th, 2013
Smoked over pine fires in bamboo baskets this tea captures the taste of the fire. It is a perfect tea for cold winter nights…the taste reminded me of warm fires, high mountains, and clear cold skies. You can taste the full spectrum of tea with this type…the warmth from the sun, the aging leaf, and the smoke from th...

Style: Bancha – Region: Japan77 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 11th, 2013
This was a surprisingly good tea, the best broken-leaf bancha I have ever tried. Finely broken leaf looks unimpressive, and has a mild grainy aroma, like porridge or grits.
I brewed considerably longer than Wegmans recommended--their 1-1.5 minute guide seemed on the short side. This produced a mild, smooth cup tha...
Nilgiri Select Black Tea from Wegmans
Style: Black Tea – Region: Nilgiri, India63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Apr. 10th, 2013
This is a standard black tea; it is mild, and not very complex. I let it sit for a good six minutes, and it still did not taste bitter or astringent. I think I would have preferred a richer tasting tea, but I still appreciate the quality of this one.

Style: White Peony Tea – Region: China87 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 5/5
Apr. 3rd, 2013
A top-notch white tea for a very low price: $30 a pound for a white tea that is organic certified and is among the better examples of this style of tea that I've sampled.
I found this tea was on the light side for pai mu tan or white peony tea, both by color and flavor, but it was still pleasant and flavorful.

Dragon Well Loose Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Dragon Well (Long Jing) – Region: Zhejiang, China77 / 100 Aroma: 9/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 29th, 2013
I've sampled a bunch of dragonwell lately and most of it either falls really solidly into the legit zone, or is unrecognizable as its style and not particularly pleasant to drink. This one is somewhere in between. I'd say it's legit but among the lower-end of the teas I'd label in this fashion. Think enjoyable, but ...

Style: Black Tea – Region: Nilgiri, India70 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 21st, 2013
I thought this tea was pretty good, it wasn't terribly outstanding, but it satisfied my craving for a basic black, and the price seemed reasonable. With the combined price and quality, I feel like this tea could compete and overthrow my regular bagged blacks any day. I would buy it again if there were a Wegmans close...

Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: India77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 21st, 2013
I thought that this tea had a really nice aroma to its dried leaf, which had strong spicy tones. The brew wasn't as fragrant, but I still enjoyed its taste. This tea wasn't anything spectacular, but it wasn't all bad. I thought it could have had a stronger flavor, which the dried leaf suggested. The price seemed reas...
Read Full ReviewOkumidori Sencha from Wegmans
Style: Sencha – Region: Japan77 / 100 Aroma: 8/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 15th, 2013
A good sencha that infuses very quickly. In my opinion, much better than Wegman's Tomo Sencha, although pricier.
The dry leaf has a very dark green color and fine texture, and is intensely aromatic: highly vegetal and suggestive of sweetness and umami.
Brews a surprisingly clear and pale cup, especially relative...
Organic Peppermint from Wegmans
Style: Peppermint Tea – Region: Oregon, United States67 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 13th, 2013
This is pretty good peppermint tea. It's tasty, and it's fairly cheap. If you like peppermint tea, it's a good buy, but it's not anything I consider particularly exciting.
Read Full ReviewGenmaimatcha Green Tea from Wegmans
Style: Genmaicha – Region: Japan60 / 100 Aroma: 5/10 Flavor: 3/5 Value: 4/5
Mar. 13th, 2013
A pleasant, perfectly drinkable tea that is dirt cheap. Although I didn't think it was great, it had few objectionable qualities and I actually think it is a pretty good buy. It seems to have much more toasted rice than tea leaf, and has a bitterness and sourness that I normally don't encounter in either genmaicha or...

Style: English Breakfast – Region: Blend63 / 100 Aroma: 6/10 Flavor: 4/5 Value: 3/5
Mar. 13th, 2013
This is a really standard but high-quality black tea. It doesn't taste like an English Breakfast blend though; it's not particularly malty or robust. I found it a bit boring.
Brews an opaque orangish-brown. Aroma is fruity and reminiscent of a typical Ceylon black tea of decent quality. Flavor is moderately stro...
Organic Masala Chai Black Tea from Wegmans
Style: Chai / Spiced Tea – Region: India83 / 100 Aroma: 7/10 Flavor: 5/5 Value: 5/5
Mar. 12th, 2013
I've had this tea both on it's own and with the addition of milk an honey, and have liked it both ways. It smells good but not amazing, and tastes better than it smells. I like the fact that the tea can be brewed strongly without tasting bitter. It's a really good price for the quality of the tea.
