Diagram Illustrating Acid Reflux (GERD) or Heartburn
This diagram illustrates what goes on in GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease), or "heartburn", i.e. that the lower esophageal sphincter opens up, allowing backflow of acid and stomach contents into the esophagus.
Some doctors recommend people to avoid tea, but there is no evidence that tea causes or aggravates acid reflux.
