Foliage and Flowers of Tilia cordata, Littleleaf Linden

Linden leaves and flowers, showing small, yellow flowers and much larger leaves, long, oval-shaped, pale-yellow leaf-like bracts at base of each flowerView Full Resolution

This photo, taken in early June when the linden tree is in the middle of blooming, shows linden blossoms as well as foliage. These blossoms are used to produce an herbal tea; they also produce a potent fragrance. As these are large trees, often planted along avenues and large streets, their fragrance can be a defining feature of June in regions where they are grown.
