Excellent! Another sample served at Velvet Sky Bakery.
The leaf was rather broken, but this may have been due to being packed in the small sample container: this is a very fragile, large-leafed tea.
Brews up a clear, light-colored cup that is on the delicate side for a white peony. Aroma is floral, with notes of sweet rice. The floral qualities are evolving and complex, hard to describe, but very interesting. Flavor is relatively bold: sweet, with a faint bitterness and hint of umami or savory quality. Very low astringency. The flavor tastes much more balanced than a lot of lighter white teas that, to me, seem either weak or thin.
Resteeps well. I only brewed two cups, but the spent leaves were still aromatic, suggesting that it might be possible to brew a third, especially if using shorter steeps.
An excellent tea. I think I prefer the slightly darker white peony teas, but this was among the best of the lighter examples of this tea that I've ever tried.
I also think the price is excellent on this tea. Definitely among the best white peony teas that I've tried!
