This is a Whole Foods tea given to me by my sister-in-law in Colorado, who gets lots of organic and medicinal teas at the plethora of health-food shops in her area. She likes it when I try her favorite teas. So every time I return from there, I have a few more to review here. :-)
365 Organic Green pleasantly surprised me. As with most greens, and store brand teas in general, its dry-bag, in-cup and wet-bag aromas were mild, to put it mildly. Another weak-kneed pushover of a store brand, then? Not at all! This has a remarkably robust flavor, with some bitterness but not too much—one of the most potent straight green teas I've had so far, whether bagged or loose. This earns a good mark.
I like to brew 'em long and chug 'em strong. No resteeping for me...soak and stir and squeeze and pound out all the molecules possible in one shot! As you may guess, I'm rather numb to subtlety and nuance; you may find aspects lurking in the leaves that I overshot in my zeal for unadulterated power. Mostly what I do detect is a good deal of grassiness or alfalfa-like taste, but not enough to be offputting, or to make me feel like a cud-chewing ungulate. The aftertaste, which is decent, lasts a long time too, without getting bothersome. Next time I'm at my favorite Whole Foods in Dallas, now that they're not living down to their "Whole Paycheck" epithet as much anymore, I may just grab a pack of this stuff and make it my mainstay bagged green.
