Ilex guayusa Tree with Numerous Leaves
This photo shows an Ilex guayusa plant, a tree that is one of the three commercially-cultivated species of holly, used to produce a caffeinated herbal tea, the other two being Yerba Mate and Yaupon.
This plant, in spite of being classified in the same genus as the familiar American and English holly trees, looks quite different, with long ovate leaves coming to a sharp point, and lacking any sort of thorns. In this picture, many leaves have a reddish appearance.
