Arya Topaz, Loose-leaf Darjeeling Oolong Tea
This photo shows the leaf of Arya Topaz, a Darjeeling oolong tea. VIsually, this tea looks a lot like a Bao Zhong (Pouchong) oolong from Taiwan. Having tried Arya Topaz one year, it is quite unlike a pouchong. I found it to require careful brewing with low temperature water.
Many of the high-end teas from Arya estate are named for gems, and this one is named for Topaz, a mineral that often forms gemstones with a range of colors, often bluish. The name may reflect the blue-green appearance of these leaves.
