Yogyakarta is a special region in Indonesia, and the only region that is still governed by a pre-colonial monarchy, the Hamengkubuwono, the Sultan of Yogyakarta. Historically and culturally, the region was part of Central Java.

Yogyakarta produces tea, like Central Java.

Although total rainfall in this region is very high, rain shadow produces a strongly pronounced dry season, with little rain falling July through September. Rainfall is very heavy November through March.
