After being impressed by a number of teas from Imperial Tea Garden, this one disappointed me a lot. I've experimented a lot with brewing, and it just seems flat and bland.
The leaf is mostly broken and the dry leaf has a dusty, twiggy aroma. I experimented brewing in several ways. This tea holds up to making at least two infusions, western style, but neither steeping particularly impressed me. I also tried one longer infusion, and I experimented with the amount of leaf, but I decided I just don't think I like this tea much.
Overall character is of a greener oolong with a moderate roast. Aroma is predominately woody and twiggy, with a light roast evident in the aroma. There are no floral tones evident in most greener oolongs, and less of the herbaceous tones than I like.
This tea is inexpensive, but I don't think it offers as good value as some of Imperial Tea Garden's higher-priced offerings, which are unique teas that offer higher quality. Also, if you want oolongs in this style, I recommend buying from other sources. I've had similar teas that I enjoyed more, but which were similarly priced or even lower priced.
